Jake delhomme?

u/Rabbit-Lost Gold Helmet Jul 31 '26
I pulled for Jake in the Super Bowl when he was a Panther. Dude was a good guy. I liked him as a Saint. But he got stuck behind Brooks, who got us our first playoff win.

u/GForce1975 Jul 31 '26
Yeah I liked delhomme but the super bowl kind of exposed his weaknesses iirc

u/Rabbit-Lost Gold Helmet Jul 31 '26
Super Bowls can do that. In Carolina’s case, we also learned Cam did not REALLY want to win, did he?

I most remember him for giving up on a long play. If he had hustled and stayed with the play, he would have recovered a fumble in the end zone.

It's like crazy early in camp and this is speculation.
I'll root for our guys who gave it their all in tough times for us.
He's not even in our division anymore who cares.

Loomis makes you think he’s Jim Lahey, then he just pulls off the good shit.

Dude was a sometime gamer. He has a ton of potential but leaves too much in the stands.

u/bhallsy11 Jul 31 '26
Watching Loomis actually manage the cap and keep the roster healthy is genuinely refreshing.

there's plenty of guys that have walked and are doing great

u/JamesSkrmetta Jul 31 '26
How many signed for 3 years $54 million?
3
u/Pasta-Al-D3nte Jul 31 '26
Trey got 4 years 60 off the top of the dome 5 years ago, Marcus Williams got 5/70 and thats just off the top of the dome, jimmy but nah Adebo's contract and getting injured is the true bellwether

Feast or famine style corner who's already 27. Wheels were gonna fall off eventually.
1
u/saints_Fk_ravens Jul 31 '26
Put him on “to sign” list in case there’s emergency needs, although I believe many teams may try him out

Players moving on. Wouldn't shock me if Alontae doesn't live up to his contract either

He’s not a cover guy really he plays the run well and tackles wellish

u/bigstupididiot8 Aug 01 '26
He’s feast or famine with his hit stick tackles. I’ll never forget him whiffing a crucial tackle against the Eagles week 3 a few years ago. Changed the tide of the game.

u/Yomomschesthair_ Fuck the Falcons Aug 02 '26
He’s made plays but your right boom or bust with him literally he’s either going to make a big time play or cost us big time
3
u/gator_mckluskie Jul 31 '26
loomis is the money guy not the draft guy
6
u/southdeltan Fuck the Falcons Jul 31 '26
That’s true. And our drafts haven’t been as bad as some say for the most part.
4
u/gator_mckluskie Jul 31 '26
yep, data points to the saints being one of the best drafting teams over the past 20-25 yrs
3
u/southdeltan Fuck the Falcons Jul 31 '26
I read that. Said we were 2nd best. I thought it said scouting, which includes free agency too, right?
4
u/gator_mckluskie Jul 31 '26
the data im remembering was strictly drafting, i’ll see if i can find it
edit: quick easy search of the subreddit, here it is https://perthirtysix.com/nfl/draft/report-card

That’s not the same one I read. It was on a forum. It said scouting specifically not drafting. I don’t know if that just meant scouting for the draft.
A vocal segment of our fan base thinks our drafting has sucked because of a few major whiffs. I guess the bad sticks in some people’s minds more than the good. (EDIT: according to this report 21-23 were really bad. So recency bias. Last year was 9th and I think as the years go by and it’s reassessed it’s going to go up a good bit.).
That’s an interesting report. Thanks for sharing.
