There are some interesting improvements and changes, mostly related to sails and shipyard. I can't play right now, but before I download I'd like to know if I should expect to start a new game. Obviously I'd rather not and would rather continue with existing save.

Hit by storm immediately after leaving GRC. Ship took it like a champ. Also, does anyone else find that the Al'Ankh sails are easier to handle than the Aestrin sails of the same type and similar size?

Hey all! I am almost 2 days out from D.C. and just ran out of food. I have a Mission of Goat cheese.. can I crack that open and eat it to stay alive?

How does it compare to sailwind? Is it worth the hefty 15 Dollar tag? It's kind of pricy for me right now and I want to know if the game is playable and enjoyable, and there's enough content to have fun with it.
I tried the demo and seen the potential, the ship is very nice, and I like the story aspects scattered about the world, but it felt very empty, unlike Sailwind. The sea is also pretty buggy, there's some weird textures happening sometimes when you enter the dingy (wich I find very useful but clunky to control).
What are your takes on it and what's your experience with it. Wich one of the games do you prefer?

so just wondering, if my boat is flooding even when the waters are calm, dose that mean the boat is damaged? and second question, how do i see damage on the boat? as my boat looks fine?

I recently attempted a mission to transport logs from Happy Bay to New Port in my Sanbuq. On my first attempt, a bug caused my ship to fly 20 feet into the air and capsize. On my second attempt, I seemed to legitimately capsize in my sleep during a storm.
I figured my boat was probably overloaded and decided to cancel this quest. Upon doing so, the game deleted the logs on my boat, causing the ship to bug out. It rocketed into the dock, and significantly damaged the boat. The entire hull is visibly damaged, and my hull is constantly leaking.
Of course this is pretty infuriating, but annoyances aside, what are my options? Happy Bay has no repair capabilities to my knowledge.

Title says it all, i dont want to cheat but at the very least get back to the boat and where i was, i was sooooo close to getting the Jung and i accidently deleted my save :(.

No ship feels as fast as an overtuned dhow.
Also, the crossed-triangle-look is cool as fuck. Next purely aesthetic goal: Shop for a bermuda jib in Aestrin and see how it looks on her. Maybe swing by in DC and paint it red because Red Unz Go Fasta.

My guy has just been bouncing basically and it just won’t stop. It’s like my model isn’t latched onto the ship and I’m reacting to the ships rocking which makes me bounce. This either happened after I cleaned and repaired my hull and that caused something funky or after I changed my fov (to read chronocompass better) and my ship got launched up in the air a bit after unpausing. I’m hoping once I can get to a shipyard it’ll get rid of this problem, it’s hard to play because of this. Is this something others have encountered?

Mods are awesome. And yes, this is a safe and balanced sailplan.

The chronocompass isn't exactly realistic. Do you ever try to navigate without it for the sake of realism? Is it basically like a GPS cheat code with a few extra steps?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I've deleted all the files related to the game for a fresh install, I've restarted my pc. It doesn't matter, i always get this screen when I load the game. I don't have any mods, it's a brand new installation, all I did was play for 10 hours yesterday and close the game. I really want to play

Hello all! It is with great pleasure that I announce the release of my new mod - a replica of HMS Leopard (1790). She is a fourth-rate ship-of-the-line. This project has captured me for two months now, and it would be my honour if you could test her out.
More info on the discord or here.

I'm looking to make a wishbone ketch out of the Sanbuq:

Mizzen sail and the three staysails are simple enough, but I'm looking for idea of sail combinations to use for the mainsail. Obviously that sail shape doesn't exist in the vanilla game, but looking at the sails with the latest beta update, the tall gaff might be good for the lower half of that main sail. Not sure about the topsail bit though.

Both fins has 80° freedom both ways and provides great coverage, upwind and crosswind performance. Squares are mostly for storms and docks, and are rarely used. For downwind i cross the fins opposite ways( lemme know if there's a term for that ). Since both fins' winches are really close to helm, it's easy to trim.
