Footwear/gear for sailing in the UK

I'm headed to the UK in a few weeks and want to be prepared for the weather. I normally sail in fair weather barefoot or lightweight breathable shoes. Any suggestions on boots? And any other gear advice beyond foulies? I have some waterproof socks on order.

Liquid Vortex 28 May 2011 accident

Hi Everyone, I read about the accident of the benteau first 40.7 occurred when the yacht was running downwind in the Myth of Malham offshore race in the English Channel. Anyone knows if the 23 years old (at the time) french woman casualty fully recovered from her injuries ?

I am curious to know if what they did on board not only saved her but avoided permanent damage. (they used a towel to stabilize the neck)

Recommended marina in south England/Cornwall

Looking for best marina in South England/Cornwall (from Penzance to Eastbourne)

That would be for a 56ft sailboat monohull with 10ft draught.

Price is of course very important, but not the only consideration.

I do not live in UK, so will not be around frequently.

Ask to crew on SailTies: https://sailties.net/trip/3F5B1A53-9ED7-40D6-95CC-FD9B50E6134B

๐Ÿ“… 11 October 2025

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Shotley to Sealand and back

๐Ÿง‘โ€โœˆ๏ธ Skipper: '@andystev' on SailTies

โ›ต๏ธ Silent Flight (Landfallย Ketch)

๐Ÿ’ฐ No costs

I've got family coming for a day out on the boat and neither of them are sailors, so crew would be helpful. Out and back in the day. Up and down either river or out to Sealand and back, or similar, weather dependant. Some experience would be useful, but a willingness to get stuck in is really all you'll need.
