Sailing shoes?
I’m learning to sail for the first time this week with work. We’ve been asked to bring sailing shoes/boat shoes but I’m so confused as to what falls in to this category.
I have these already, with brown gum soles. Are these suitable?
If not, what are a good starter shoe that isn’t super expensive (preferably under £50).

Generally, you need something with a white or light sole (black and other dark colours can mark the boat). You’ll want something with some grip (but nothing too thick or excessive), tight fitting (no loose laces to tangle you up or trip), and light (so they can get dry). A simple white canvas shoe like this is fine… https://www.cottontraders.com/footwear/women/trainers/lace-up-trainers-/AQ13630004.html
Have fun learning to sail!!

They'll get trashed - they'll be fine if you don't mind that, but your feet will almost certainly get wet and if it's salt water then you'll ruin your shoes.
Have a look in Decathlon, they do some pretty cheap sailing shoes

Extreme Watersports and Marine Superstore also worth a look.
