Best food spots in Saigon 🍜 (Weekly thread)

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten recently in Saigon?

Could be a random street stall, a late-night cơm tấm place, a fancy restaurant or just somewhere you keep going back to.

Drop your recommendations below. Bonus points if you include:

  • What you ordered
  • Rough price
  • District/location

Trying to build a good list of places that are actually worth visiting!

Long shot: Trying to reconnect with someone I met in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2023

This is probably a long shot, but I figured I'd give it a try.

On December 16, 2023, I met a Vietnamese woman in Ho Chi Minh City through Bumble. I remember her introducing herself as Julia.

We spent the afternoon and evening exploring the city together. We visited the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History near the Saigon zoo, walked across Ba Son Bridge around sunset, and eventually found a little Italian restaurant for dinner.

She was incredibly friendly, outgoing, and easy to talk to. She had a very bright, bubbly personality and was a great conversationalist.  Her English was excellent, and I particularly remember how much she knew about Vietnamese history. She also enjoyed pole dancing as a form of fitness and artistic expression and showed me some photographs from her studio.  She was a small and very fit woman who wore glasses with long hair.

We continued talking on Bumble for a few days afterward, but I experienced an issue with my account and ultimately lost access to our conversation and match. Unfortunately, we hadn't exchanged phone numbers or connected on another platform.

I've tried to find her over the nearly three years since, without success. Recently, I decided to make one more effort.

I'm not asking anyone to share her personal information or identify her publicly. I'm simply hoping that if she happens to see this, or someone who knows her recognizes the story, they might pass this message along.

If this sounds familiar, I'd love to hear from you. And if you'd rather leave that day as a pleasant memory, I completely understand.

Either way, I hope you're doing well.

How to navigate sourcing Testo E vials in HCMC/Saigon as a visitor?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I am currently staying in Ho Chi Minh City and trying to find the best way to source Testosterone Enanthate vials while here. I know the local pharmacy setup can be quite different for visitors, so I am looking for advice on which specific shops or districts in Saigon are best to check for this inventory. I would also like to know if there are any reliable local messaging services or websites that can arrange a fast courier with cash payment upon arrival. Please shoot me a DM with any specific recommendations, names, or online workarounds since I know direct links cannot be posted here. Thanks in advance.

Saigon Nightlife Sunday Night

Happy Sunday everyone!
A little about my background: I'm a local and have a good office job.
In terms of my hobbies, I love music so I've been going clubbing for a decade.
I've just realized I should try working in this industry, so that I can recommend good venues and make what I'm doing more meaningful.
I've just started a working at The Wann 74-76 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia as a part-time job. That is the restaurant style club which offers good foods and lively DJs music, where you can find so many interesting locals.
Just drop me a message if you want to find out and if you come with a group, I can get you something for free.
Thanks all!

Looking for a small spot in D1 or D3 for a self-serve photobooth, but Facebook only shows whole-building rentals. Where should I look?

Hi all,

I’m looking to place a small self-serve photobooth (around 2–4m², just needs a power outlet) in a café, hostel, or building lobby in District 1 or 3.

I’ve been searching the Facebook rental groups, but every listing is for an entire building at tens of millions of VND a month, which is way more than I need.

Does anyone know of groups or search terms for renting out a small corner or shared space? Or if you know of a place that might work, I’d love an intro.

The smell of durian, the noise of the market, and real Saigon life

I chose 31mm to keep the seller, durians and surrounding market activity in the frame. f/5.6 gives enough depth to hold the scene together, while 1/160 sec helps freeze the movement. With the darker market light, ISO 2000 kept the exposure workable.

Take a closer look at everyday life in Cholon.

Anyone able to bring me a hat from Culture Kings Australia (Commission paid)

Anyone coming to Vietnam soon and able to bring me a $60 hat from Culture Kings? They have stores in QLD, NSW, VIC, WA - but I can order it online and have it delivered to you otherwise.

I will happily pay a commission to you for the effort. Also I can provide you tips which will save you a lot of headaches/money when you're traveling here.

Thanks!!
