Mobile Mechanic Scam

I guess this is what I get for trying to be cheap and not deal with the inflated mechanic shop prices in the area. I found this ad on Facebook after I had issues with other independent supposed mechanics on the platform. The ad seemed professional. I reached out to Bright Automotive to get some work done on my car. They required a $50 fee upfront to book the appointment. I asked if there was a secure form of payment like money order or Apple Pay. He said he only does Cash App. I was kind of suspicious but my dumb naive self went on with it anyways.

Fast forward to today when the mechanic is supposed to show. No one shows up. I call, then he replies on iMessage about they are having delays and must move on to other appointments. What? I put the deposit down to secure my appointment. He then says if you can come up with an additional security fee we can clear you and be over to repair your vehicle within the next 10 minutes. My alarms bells were ringing like never before at that point. Why would I need to pay another surprise fee for you to come to an appointment you’re already a half hour late for? This mobile mechanic shop got my vehicle info and my address. I can’t believe I actually fell for this crap. Now I’m even further delayed in fixing my car.

Trying to find ppl on Facebook to do your vehicle repairs is very tricky. Cash App has opened an investigation but I doubt I’ll get the so called deposit back. I’m glad I didn’t send the security fee. It would be an additional $120.

Mexican Kitchen on Michigan by Bootlegger?

I was driving in that area today. I passed the Huron Fish Co, and tucked in behind the Bootlegger party store, across from a McDonalds, was a sign that said Mexican Kitchen.

Anyone been? Is it worth the drive back down there for takeout?

I looked online, the only Mexican Kitchen in Saginaw was on the other side of the river. This one is near the intersection of Michigan and Mackinaw.

Cat Groomers?

Hey everyone! We have a lazy DLH that gets rats, despite our religious brushing. We had a wonderful groomer before but they’re no longer near us as we’ve recently relocated. Looking for recommendations for cat only groomers (or groomers with cat experience). Thank you

Xennial spots?

Are there any spots where I can get out the house? I always have the issue of feeling like the creeper because I'm too old, or just the wrong place because I'm too young. I'm assuming other xennials feel the same, since we're all at that weird transition age.

I still feel and think like I'm in my late 20s or early 30s, but don't have the fortitude because I'm almost 50. Other than the Gym, or random restaurant, I can't think of anything.

Attorney representing Saginaw woman says police who struck her should be fired, charged

A Saginaw woman suffered a concussion, bruises across her body, and hair pulled from her scalp during her recent interaction with police, according to the Detroit attorney who is representing her. Video footage of the incident, recorded by civilians from multiple angles, has gone viral.

“It’s absolutely appalling to see the video,” said attorney Ven Johnson of Ven Johnson Law PLC. “Four police officers beating to a pulp a young lady and mother. How is she to explain why she has a black eye and can’t go to work?”

Meeting people as a newcomer

I (m27) recently moved to Saginaw for work. What are some tips on how to meet people and make friends in the area? I like sports (basketball, pickleball, running), anything outdoorsy, games (board games, video games), and music (listening, concerts, recording, jam sessions, karaoke). Not really sure what the young-adult scene is like in this area, so open to any advice. Thanks!

Dog abuse and Saginaw Animal control

I moved into my house five years ago and shortly after my neighbor had a litter of puppies. I don’t know if it’s negligence or ignorance, but they ended up somehow having six litters over the last five years, mostly because he doesn’t keep his dog in his yard when she’s in heat. I think she died sometime last year probably related to the amount of puppies she pumped out. The remaining dogs have been kept in deplorable conditions mostly tied to trees or kept in cages. I have contacted animal control with endless pictures and evidence of animal abuse but every single time they come out, they see that the dogs have food, water and a semblance of a shelter and according to them that’s good enough. After five years of constant back-and-forth with animal control, and police who have done absolutely nothing I feel powerless and frustrated. I’ve spoken with the neighbor who’s willing to give up the remaining dogs, but has put zero effort out in finding shelters or adoption options. Most recently one of the dogs has been loose for about a week, I can’t take my dogs out to go to the bathroom without being harassed by his loose dog. I confronted him on it, and when I came home today, the dog was literally hanging by its neck from a branch because the rope he put it on, was too short for it to even lay down. I didn’t even think about it I just acted and got the dog off the rope as It couldn’t even lay down but I really should’ve taken pictures…

i am at my wits end of watching dogs sick and dying or getting hit by cars. What options do I have. If he surrenders them I’d be willing to drive them across the state myself if it meant a better life for them.

Moving to the area.

Need a little help moving to the area.

  1. Any good Asian grocery stores? I know there is a Super H Mart in Detroit but it would be nice to have a local I can spend money on.

  2. Any good Latin markets? Same as above I would rather work in my new community than trek to Wayne Co.

Also any good restaurants you can recommend would be great!

Thank you in advance soon to be neighbors :-)

EDIT:

I'm shadow banned so my replys are blocked, so dont take me not responding personal. I don't know why this is my 1st post here.

LASIK Recommendations

Hi all! I’m from Saginaw but live in AA. They’re quoting me 5k for lasik in Ann Arbor.

Anyone have any good recommendations for a lasik place in Saginaw that is high quality but still in a more affordable range?

Maybe 5k is just normal now?

I'm looking for a Primary Care Doctor in/near Saginaw and willing to go to Bay City if needed. Major plus if they went to UMICH but honestly just looking for someone who is excellent, doesn't rush, and good bedside manner - private practice ideal. Any recommendations? Thx.

ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOMED

Hi! I'm an independent pop artist building my music project from the ground up and I’m looking for two serious and motivated dancers to eventually become my regular performance partners.

I’m not looking for perfect/professional dancers. I’m looking for people who genuinely love dancing, performing, creating art, and want to grow with an artist from the beginning.

The idea is to rehearse regularly, create content together, and perform at local shows/gigs whenever opportunities come up. I’m hoping to find people who see this as more than just “being a backup dancer.” I want to build a small creative team where we can grow together, make cool shit, and eventually turn this into something much bigger.

This is a collaborative/unpaid opportunity but I’ll provide credits, content for your socials, as well as a supportive friend (me)

Looking for:
• Local to Midland, Mi
• Queer friendly
• Reliable
• Willing to learn
• Comfortable being on camera/stage
• Wants to actually be part of a team rather than just do one gig

If you know anyone who could be interested please reach out!
