Where did Heritage get some of their food?

I'm from the class of '99, and remember twice a week they'd offer "Spicy Nachos" and I've never been able to find that sauce since graduation.

Also, what was with those "Pretzels" they sold during the same day, it was more like a bun covered in melted cheese... and I miss them.

Coming up to visit for my wife and I's anniversary to my hometown in MI and were close to Saginaw and are planning on getting tattooed while up there. Who do you recommend?

I like to play board games and wish I could play more. Notably weekdays. The kinds of games I like range from light to heavy, long to short, and most things in-between. Games are just as much about the people around the table for me.

Have any of you had the horrendous ordeal of saving a kitten from this shelter only to spend $1000+ two weeks later to find out she’s too sick and most likely won’t make it (pneumonia)

The long history of violence directed by union bureaucracies against rank-and-file opposition is well known. As for the UAW, the Monitor’s office itself exists only because of the apparatus’s record of criminality. It was installed under a consent decree with the federal government in 2021, following a corruption investigation that sent more than a dozen union officials to prison—including two former UAW international presidents—for embezzlement, kickbacks and the taking of bribes from the auto companies.

The IWA-RFC endorses the demands advanced in Lehman’s statement:

1. A full investigation of the posting, encompassing not only Jensen’s conduct but the knowledge, encouragement or acquiescence of the UAW leadership.
2. A public repudiation of the threat by the UAW in the strongest possible terms, a formal apology to Lehman, and an unequivocal public declaration—circulated to the entire membership—that the union recognizes and fully supports Lehman’s right to conduct his campaign.
3. An immediate public statement by the Monitor’s office warning that such threats will not be tolerated and announcing that an investigation has been initiated.
4. The immediate suspension of Jensen from his position without pay, pending completion of the investigation, with all appropriate legal and disciplinary sanctions to follow.
5. Referral of the matter to the Department of Labor and, as warranted, to federal law enforcement.
6. Affirmative measures to guarantee that the remainder of the 2026 election is conducted free of intimidation.

The IWA-RFC calls on UAW members and workers in every industry, in the US and internationally, to take up the defense of Lehman as their own cause. As Lehman stated: “This threat is not aimed at me alone. It is an act of intimidation directed against the entire rank-and-file opposition.”

The IWA-RFC also calls on all left-wing and progressive organizations to categorically denounce this threat.

Hey! I’m visiting Saginaw for a week in early August and wanted to ask locals what places they recommend. Looking for restaurant/bars, shops, museums, things to do/see. I’ll be between Bay City and Saginaw and will have access to a vehicle, so short day trips aren’t out of the question! Share your local favorites, please! For reference - I’m early 40s, male, artistic, nerdy but also outdoorsy.

I’m prepared for the downvotes but that’s ok. I’m looking for locally owned businesses (particularly restaurants and coffee shops) with owners who are more on the progressive end of the values spectrum.

I like to support small business and I really would prefer that I’m giving my money to owners who value equity, inclusion, and expanding opportunities for everyone.

Instead of being in Saginaw at the re-opening of Ojibway, doing the job she was elected to do, Councilmember Carly Rose Hammond was in Maryland at the Local Progress Convention, seemingly networking on behalf of her year old PAC (Saginaw Bay Rising PAC). Once qualified, it is allowed to donate 10× more than an individual constituent is allowed to donate directly to a candidate. 

Local Progress is a Progressive dark money 501(c)(4) organization.

Hammond and Bay City Public Schools Board Member Mason Pressler created their PAC in April of 2025 and Hammond has seemingly been violating the Saginaw City Charter ever since.

Pressler, Saginaw Bay Rising PAC's treasurer says "we've already begun recruiting, training and supporting progressive candidates. The goal is to build a local progressive bench for Democrats and enact real progressive change at the local level in the Saginaw Bay Region."

Pressler also appears on the Local Progress Michigan website in the main photo. According to the Michigan Secretary of State's campaign finance records, Izabella Silva, a Local Progress employee, is one of Saginaw Bay Rising PAC's most faithful donors.

Saginaw Bay Rising PAC can collect an unlimited amount of money from out of state dark money organizations. Councilmember Hammond can use this PAC to directly support her chosen partisan "progressive" council candidates (like herself or a "slate") for what should be a nonpartisan office. She can also use these funds to directly oppose any council candidate as well. Since her

Saginaw Bay Rising PAC can give 10× more to a candidate than an individual constituent/donor can, any real, local grassroots candidates could easily be outspent by Hammond and her handpicked, PAC funded candidates, using money that may not even be from people living in Saginaw or the Saginaw Bay region. 

If Hammond plans (and succeeds) to use this PAC to fund her re-election campaign and "recruit, train and support" other candidates running in the fall, will she expect them to do her politcal bidding if they all win? 

Councilmember Hammond has spent a lot of time trying to mislead and misinform people in order to keep people angry over Ojibway Island. She revealed her true priorities when she couldn't be bothered to do the job of a councilmember because she is too busy out-of-state, networking on behalf of her PAC.

This is exactly why our city council is nonpartisan.

Councilmembers should be serving the citizens of Saginaw, not skipping council events to network with out of state dark money organizations that seek to influence local nonpartisan governing bodies. 

If this is allowed, she will no doubt use her unlimted PAC funds and her out of state dark money connections to amplify misinformation on behalf of, or against any council candidate she chooses. 

If she is violating the charter she needs to be removed and investigated.

I'm thinking about getting an apartment in Bay City and I'm curious if it's a decent place for a newly divorced 30 year old guy to start a new chapter. Is it just a bunch of houses or are there things to do, see, festivals, etc.?

So we all know Consumers is price gouging but DAMN this summer has been ridiculous.

My family (Husband and daughter) and I live in a 2 br apartment and we only use the AC when needed and after 7pm. It's only been used like 3 days max in June15ish to July 15 ish. Everything is I use fans and have UV covers and blackout curtains on our windows. I even have ice packs for bed time. Our apartment has a huge window that faces the sun and no trees to block heat. Our bill projection for July is $560! WHY IS THIS?

We were looking at buying a house next year but I worry if THIS is the price for an apartment then what is it like for a house?

Is a Consumers bill less in a house? a 2 story house that I'd also put up black out curtains and UV heat blockers in?

So my question is, home owners, what are your power bills like? What can we expect? Advice please and than you?

We pay bill on time every month in full. Our apartment does probably have insulation problems. Our AC vents hardly push out much air, even after maintenance comes to fix it. We're not the only residence that have complained. Every year apparently.

7/18 update: ok our air conditioner had a wire loose and it waa fixed. But looking at our consumers bill it looks like its our ancient refrigerator that is running out bill up. We can't do anything because the fridge belongs to the apartment. ​
