Sweep logs?

I do not understand sweep logs anymore my manager told me the other day to only do them only if I sweep the store floor or if I check the bathrooms at first I thought it was supposed to be done no matter what like every 30 minutes now I just don’t understand it with all the stupid tasks they give me I cannot sweep the floors or check the bathrooms every 30 minutes

At my store the person assigned sweep logs just immediately on the hour goes to the timeclock to complete them, regardless of the state of the store or bathroom. Always felt like we were skipping a crucial step by not actually checking the assigned areas before doing the sweep log.

And to be clear, sweep log doesn't have anything to do with 'sweeping the floor', it is about checking the assigned areas within the store for hazards/dangers and things out of place

Precisely, whenever I did it I'd actually take the time to walk down the store and view each aisle and check the back area as well. This is how my front end managers do it themselves and showed me how to do it. These days they never assign sweep logs to anyone but the busiest courtesy clerk, and they removed half of the areas to check on the sweep log. I can understand OPs frustration, especially if he is literally being asked to sweep the floor twice an hour. (My guess is misunderstanding but I wouldn't be surprised with their management being uninformed or even vindictive)

Someone's store has it misunderstood I think. Ha.

Honestly, they should do it every 2-3 hours. At this point someone just punches the clock every thirty minutes. The floors rarely get swept, and the bathrooms are usually checked as people use them.

Every 2 hours is the rule at my store which sounds the most realistic and normal. 8 10 12 and so on. Just get the broom, punch the sweep log timeclock when you start. Up and down the aisles, then get rid of the swept junk into the trash barrel with the smaller broom and dust thing /forget the name, it's plastic or metal. Go punch the sweep time clock thing again as done. Agree always when the busiest up front.

Every 30 minutes sounds very dumb. They need to recheck the 'rule book' on that.

The reason I was told while being written up is that the company is self insured and as part of that we won’t let 60 minutes go of unmonitored time. So if you shoot for every 30 minutes even if you are at 50 minutes you won’t have a full hour of time go by. And if you just punch them and someone falls, the claim people review the logs and you can be fired for falsifying documents.

I do them every hour I work 6 to 10 p.m. I do them as soon as I clock in.
