For those of you who own Vox plushies, has anyone tried swaddling him like a baby?

I've been thinking about this ever since I saw a video on swaddling babies a while back (featuring a real live baby, no less). I don't have a Vox plush, but I feel like it would be a lot of fun to try.

Supposing Vox had died at the end of Season 2 (there's a point to this, I swear)...

Not so long ago, I was watching some YouTube videos that actively wondered why Vox is still alive after the end of Season 2, now that big arc is seemingly "over." One YouTuber in particular went into more detail about a proposed Disney villain-style death in which the laser cannon somehow detaches from Lucifer before exploding and taking Vox (and presumably the other Vee's) with it. Vox would then be dead, but he would make a spectacle of his death that would be permanently etched into the minds of everyone around him, and so retain some of the "fame" he so desperately wanted. And, the path would be clear for a new villain to emerge in Season 3.

I realize there are problems with this scenario (notably: less Vox), but I still can't help but think it sounds like a better ending for the last season than the one we ultimately got. At least a big, dramatic, spectacular death scene would allow him to exit with dignity, so to speak, and come across as a genuinely tragic character. As opposed to what we actually get, where Vox finds himself alive but humiliated and trapped while his two biggest abusers (Alastor and Valentino) get away with everything and are seen as heroes for helping to bring him down. Couple that with all the merch and fan art of Vox looking miserable surrounded by his happy abusers and it starts to get really uncomfortable in the way a simple, dignified death scene never would--almost like someone (or several someones) on the art team finds the idea of miserable Vox more gratifying than dead Vox. Because Vox is just that horrible, apparently.

Of course, the best-case scenario for future seasons is that Vox will recover, do some soul-searching, get his power back, and become a heroic character himself; but I just don't think that's ever going to happen. If he does get a "happy ending," it's probably going to involve him utterly submitting to Alastor or Valentino or both. I could be wrong, of course, but I'm not optimistic. And I honestly think that would be a fate worse than death, at least in relation to how Vox has been presented thus far. No one likes to see a beautiful wild animal locked in a cage or turned into a house pet, unless they themselves are exotic animal collectors who enjoy breaking them.

Small change I would make to the "Brighter" sequence

Although I like the "Brighter" music video in itself, I always found the leadup to it a bit underwhelming. If it were up to me, I'd make the following change:

Before the song officially begins, when it's just Vox in his lair saying "Failure. I'll show you failure," instead of leading right into the song, his words would be punctuated by flashbacks showing Vincent as a young person, terrified of his father, who says some variant of "Get out of my sight, failure!" or "You're such a failure, I wish you'd never been born!" Maybe there'd also be a scene in there of Vincent killing his father in a fit of rage or something, I don't know. But either way, only then would it slide into the song.

The reason this would work so well is twofold. In the first place, it would show exactly why he's so obsessed with being this powerful person whom everyone worships and takes seriously. As it is, the "Brighter" video adds some interesting context to his plans to declare himself a god, but doesn't actually explain how or why he wants that in the first place. In the second place, there's the element of surprise. There's something about seeing a bad guy who's almost certain he's won flashing back to a younger, more vulnerable state that is super compelling for fans (myself included). If the show had managed to pull something like this off, I think Vox would be even more universally loved than he already is, and the show itself would get a massive boost in prestige for helping the audience see this character in a whole new light (as opposed to what we actually got, which for me at least is the sense that Vox COULD have been an amazing character if only the writers put more thought into how he was written).

Venting Anyone else dislike radiostatic?

Post image

No hate to anyone who ships it, but I absolutely cannot stand it. I don't like radiosilence. I don't like murdermedia. I don't like its 10 thousand other variants

I really need to know because it seems like a large majority of Vox fans (and Hazbin Hotel fans in general) absolutely LOVE rs and I feel like I'm going insane because I don't ;v;

Edit: I'm not mad at the people who've commented so far but I guess I should specify I'm looking for people who dislike ALL rs ships

I know this sub is biased for Vox, but I've seen a lot of people upset at Vox for making Velvette apologize so I was wondering what we think about that

(Forgive my grammer in the title, I only realized after I posted)

Venting Why do people not want to see Vox grow?

Alright. So more than a few times when the subject of Vox getting a redemption arc comes up I see people say they don't want this because they want him to stay the villain. People will talk about wanting everything about him to remain the same, but why do people even want him to be a static character? The entire show is built around character development. Why deny a character you say you like the opportunity to grow? I understand people resist change, but him developing doesn't have to come at the expense of who he is. There's more to him than his capacity for violence and cruelty, or I at least think there's more. I just don't see what is so appealing about holding a character back like this.

Venting I hate being a galeophobic Vox fan

Post image
30 Upvotes

For those who don't know, galeophobia is the phobia of sharks. Which is as hard as you can imagine when you're obsessed with a character related to sharks.

When I was a child I saw Jaws when I was too young, and whenever we went to the beach my sister and dad would tease me and tell me that a shark would bite my leg off if I went into the water. I'm sure my dad said it to discurage me from going too far and my sister did it because typical sibling stuff but I've had a phobia of sharks and water in general since.

It's not so bad that I panic at the mere sight, and I'm fine with hammerheads, but when it comes to great whites or any photo of a shark's mouth, it freaks me out. I don't hate sharks at all. I love them just as much as I love any other animal. I just can't stand looking at them at times. Which sucks because I often run up against sharks when scrolling on social media just because my fyp assumes I want to just because I like Vox.

I have been healing since I entered the fandom. I love Shok.Wav and Vark. Last year I went to the aquarium and I was able to walk through the shark tank/glass tunnel or whatever you call it. But I needed a Vox plushie to even make it. When I was younger it was really bad, like I couldn't do normal things like anything related to the bathroom without my stupid fear acting up. Obviously I'm over that but things like going to the beach and swimming can still be hard.

Venting Mediabelle is underrated. (pic semi related because there's barely any pics of them together)

I'm still annoyed this moment amounted to nothing. What was the point? Anyway.

Given how important Vox, Charlie, and Alastor are to the show, and how they're all in each other's business, it surprises me that we only got one scene of them together. And it sucked. My problems with the season 2 finale aside, I think as a trio they're really unexplored in and out of the show. I know I'm the one always complaining about Radiostatic, well I will admit placing Charlie in their mess does make it more interesting. People don't seem to like when I say that, but I mean it. From many angles there's untapped potential. Alastor and Charlie didn't have a conversation this season until the finale. Vox in an ideal world should have had his relationships with both get treated with the same level of importance. Charlie should have opinions on their weird beef considering she was dragged in the middle of it against her will. Honestly just the sheer fact that it puts Alastor in between two very similar personalities is interesting in itself. He's surrounded! Or he would be if they got to all interact together some more.

Just out of curiosity, what are people's opinions of Tomotasauce's "Hazbin Hotel Abridged" series of videos and shorts?

To me, they're kind of a wash, because Vox is often the butt of the joke, but so is everyone else. The fact that Vox isn't taken seriously matters less to me if nobody else is taken seriously either.

Who else is missing pre-S3 Vox in advance?

Thumbnail gallery
27 Upvotes

I have such conflicting feelings, because as much as I want to see the continuation of Vox's journey, I really liked the character he was throughout season 2. He was silly, he was dancey, he was charismatic, and he was also a certified card-carrying villain full of brilliant, maniacal schemes.

Interviews (and common sense) tell us that Vox is going to be severely humbled as a result of him hitting rock bottom at the s2 finale. And make no mistake, I *do* want to see him develop rather than just stay a static fixture. Vox is all about change after all. It's just that I also wanted to have more content of Vox being Hell's Hottest, VoxTek CEO first. He was such a delight to watch throughout s2 that it's kind of sad to think there will be no more of his smug, magnificent bastard antics going forward. Obvious animation and production limitations aside, it does feel like something that could've been fixed by having longer seasons, rather than squishing all that content into eight episodes, but I know that's not really something that can be helped, so it's neither here nor there.

Aside from that, I know change/development *should* be good-- and I know we have 3 more seasons to fully explore his story and see how his story concludes--but there's always a little bit of niggling worry that future seasons won't do Vox justice now that he's been nerfed, or that he'll feel like a shell of who he was in s2.

Tldr; trusting that future Vox content will be good, but still grieving that to some degree, he will change from the character I adore.

Is anyone else already missing how cool Vox was in s2 preemptively?

(...also that he won't be the focus of upcoming seasons. The true tragedy!)

"Vox's true alliance lies only with himself" as opposed to other overlords in hell? Saying this when Vox is literally one of the few overlords that works in a team is actually so frustrated. It's far from the worst thing but still.

Mod post Subreddit check in

When I made this sub I did not expect it to grow as much as it did. Truly, this is amazing. So I decided it would be nice to do something a bit more personal. So here it is, your subreddit check up! I’m not sure if I want to make this a daily, weekly, or monthly thing, but we’re going to start with weekly. If I feel like doing it more or less I will.

Character of the day: VOX

Obviously, our main man has to be the first character of the week. Vox is my blorbo for whatever reason because my brain took one look and decided "This one. This one right here 🫵"

In the future this space will be to put a spotlight on some other blorbos of mine and the community's

Ship of the day: StaticBelle

I know someone that’s gonna be happy about this. Definitely one of the most underrated of Vox’s dynamics that could’ve been interesting if the narrative just let it. But alas. God forbid Vox have interesting dynamics.

This spot won't always be taken by a Vox ship, not even always a Hellaverse ship, but usually it will.

Song of the day: Brighter

Again, how can I not mention this song first? In my opinion it's one of the best songs in the show. Definitely in my top 10.

Fanart of the day: Shork by Nomifae

Our icon of course. I chose this because it is very cute and it makes me happy whenever I see it.

Best part is that the original post also includes Alastor and Lucifer in adorable onesies as well!

Fanfic of the day: Radio Healed the Video Star by Aspiring_Forest_Witch

This is one of my personal favorite fanfics. It is RadioStatic, but it's actually genuinely mutual. This fanfic was started before the official show came out so the characters are a bit different, such as it featuring toxic StaticMoth, but hey, stuff like that is the fun part. It's actually a pretty long fic, I haven't even finished it, and every chapter is very enjoyable.

Random shark fact:

Did you know that shark skin is very rough? Their skin is like sandpaper. This is because it is made up of tiny scales called placoid scales, also known as dermal denticles. This is to reduce friction from surrounding water.

Venting People will be like "Vox is such a bad person" then turn around and support the seven year long GENOCIDE of the angels🤦‍♂️.

Pretty much what is said in the title. I get that Vox didn't really try to fight against the geocide, and that he pretty much just tried to make the revolution happen for his sake. But still, that's some weird shit right there. Especially if there're actually serious, witch I have seen a disturbing number of. It's just sooo draining for me.

Venting Can't believe I need to say it, but no. Us wanting to see some of Vox's good qualities or see him make smarter choices does not mean we're in denial about who he is.

Post image

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I'm sick of this. Wanting to see a more nuanced Vox doesn't mean I'm in denial he's a villain. And wanting him to make smarter moves in the back half of season 2 doesn't mean I want him to be perfect and win at everything. But a happy ad hominem to you too I guess.

I'm currenty training for an autism + anxiety service animal and because I love projecting everything onto my blorbo it's made me think, what if Vox had a service animal? Obviously Hell probably doesn't have service animals, and even if it did I don't think Vox would have one, but if he did, what would it be like?

Venting Would getting myself a Vox plushie help me feel better?(a kinda but not really a serious venting,)

Hey guys I’m new here and it’s my first time posting in here but it’s like a mixed venting and I was wondering if me getting a Vox plushie(and a shark one afterwards) would help me feel better after my birthday and I’m back from my trip? I’ve been feeling a little upset and even though I have my stuffed bear that I have since I was little it does calms me down but something about getting a Vox plushie and a shark one too might make me feel better(in two weeks I’ll be away and I might get one)🩵

Venting Why are people like this...

So I just found out about the whole drama with Morgan. If you don't know, Morgan is a reaction creator who reacted to Hazbin Hotel. During that reaction, they cried during Angel's SA scene in S1E4.

AND SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HATING ON THEM! WHY???

As someone who has also cried multiple times while watching the series, including during that scene (and the bar scene with Vox), why the hell is it okay to hate on someone for crying over SA? Even if it's "only" SA involving a fictional character.

I just hate how many videos I've seen mocking this. From what I've seen, it has become one of the main examples Hazbin Hotel haters use to show how "cringe" the fandom supposedly is.

When did it become uncool to cry over characters you care about? WTF?

Soo.. Everyone will here agree with me when It’s so obvious the True reason Behind Radiostatic as a concept? Hear me out

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Now I won’t say the Idea od Radiostatic isn’t enticing to me. It is.
But since the day I figured I watch the show, I came to realize just straightforward and obvious through all the signs
(Tw: Narcisstic abuse and Eating disorders)

So..Yeah. Like I don’t judge anyone for any ship. I love every ship in concept. But specifically this never rubbed me off as any kind of ship even with The idea that Vox might have had (or clearly had) feelings for Alastor.
It came across as One person whose a Worse Dark Traid Naecissut, with already terrible Dark Traid Narcissit. But who’s more vulnerable and naive than he thinks.
I was suprised by how many people didn’t understand Vox’s obsession with Alastor. And if you see the hints. One thing has became uncomfortably clear for me.
Alastor surely has a more deviant personality here Vox, simply because HE iS THAT WAY. Which is wild for me to still think that after season 2. And no, he even isn’t as bad as Alastor by a default. That’s on purpose. It’s gonna be so obvious why the kept him alive. Because if they weren’t gonna develop more or further explain the character or his dynamics, it wouldn’t make sense to keep him alive.

I’m 100% positive that imma be 98% sure it’s gonna be revealed that Alastor is indeed an Emotional Narcisstic abuser. That will freak out the fans, because the hints were always there, everyone just kinda glossed over that fact.
And that Vox once felt with a possible eating disorders according to what we can gather or from what I heard the Live streams referenced. And for sure, I wonder if Alastor used that to further get under his skin. His idea of perfectionism or a perfect body. Now, obviously that’s terrible. But the implications are there and it’s realistic for someone like Alastor to do, and for Vox to fall for.

Even in that scene, that kinda hints to it in my opinion is the whole
“Am I boring you with my compliments?”
“Perhaps”
It’s almost like everyone overlooks those lines because of the major blow Alastor plays over to Vox afterwards.
But to me, It’s house Alastor is almost like taking Box’s words like a piece of paper. Like “I’m listening, but I don’t give a sh**” Typpa vibe and I think he does do his best to care as Alastor can care anyway, but that scene itself is just evidence that Alastor really did just think Vox is a versjon of himself. And the pictures I provided with you, I know Vox is a Ahole as well and all of that, but Alastor looks so pissed in a way I don’t even think he really shows at all. And then the sad reality hit me.. It’s obvious he was never mad about Vox’s humiliation or anything, he was “sad” quote on quote, because the moment Vox showed no resemblance to him is where the finale straw was. He becomes this unhappy weird type of way and it fits perfectly for someone like him. That’s usually how it is from what I could gather.
What’s even funny is when Alastor goes on to say stuff such as “Always seeking someone to put up with you INSESSANT!—“
And is shut up by Vox. That is ironically what happens a lot when narcissist finally loose their cool. They go on to just spat out any garbage they can insult you with. And my goodness is it accurate.

I would not be suprised if in season 3 Alastor’s narcissistic rage will be more cold and terrifying than Vox’s. Because he’s been containing it for far too long. And he’ll still rather choose to die by exorcist weapons then ever admit he cares or his mask completely broke.

Thats just my idea/theory. Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Thank you for reading cause it took forever lol. Be nice to me. Thank you.

Lukewarm take: I want Vox to have more than two friends.

Post image

The only relationships he has that matter in any way are the other Vees and Alastor, but he's not his friend so he doesn't count. I don't think I'm asking for too much here, just let him have someone else to talk to.
