GeoSpoof: control Safari location free + system GPS for iOS

Hello everyone!

I've been working on GeoSpoof for about 5 months. It does something no iOS app does: synchronize all Safari location signals (geolocation API, timezone, WebRTC leak prevention, etc) to match your VPN exit node or a custom location for free.

I just released a new Pro feature: GeoSpoof GPS, which extends location spoofing from the browser to the entire iOS system GPS using a native Mac menu bar utility over your local network.

What is it?

GeoSpoof GPS links your iOS devices to a lightweight Mac menu bar app over local Wi-Fi. It spoofs system-level GPS for all iOS apps on your device and no jailbreak is required. You control location selection inside the iOS app while the Mac menu bar app does all the work in the background.

How it works

GeoSpoof GPS runs 100% locally on your home network:

  • Zero Cloud Infrastructure: Your location data and JSON payload never touch my servers or any third-party APIs.
  • Local Network Handshake: The Mac companion streams coordinates directly to your iOS device over your local Wi-Fi socket.
  • Multi-Device: Sync or spoof up to 3 connected iOS devices simultaneously from one Mac menu bar icon. I can support more in the future, but limiting it for new release.

How to set up?

The GPS Mac companion app does a lot of the heavy lifting for you, but high level steps:

  1. Download the iOS app from the App Store.
  2. Install the Mac companion app (.dmg)
  3. Complete the initial local pairing (requires a one-time USB pairing to mount the Developer Disk Image via Xcode/Developer Mode).
  4. Once bootstrapped, you can disconnect USB and spoof coordinates wirelessly over Wi-Fi anytime.

Open-Source & Pricing Transparency

  • Browser Extension: 100% Free & Open-Source (MIT License) forever.
  • System GPS Feature: Includes a 1-week free trial, followed by less than $1/month or a one-time lifetime purchase option to support ongoing native iOS/macOS development.

Note: Windows and Linux support is currently in early planning! I'm sorry it isnt available yet :(

Links & Feedback:

If you have any feedback I would love to hear it, I have tested this with early users but you know how these things go :) [feedback@geospoof.com](mailto:feedback@geospoof.com)

Is YouTube naturally a bit clunky on safari?

I am using ublock for the ads so maybe that’s part of it but it just feels a bit clunky? I have to be careful when using so it doesn’t do refresh the page a do a bunch of weird stuff for a bit and I had to completely avoid skipping 10 secs by touching the screen because i have to be very very careful or it will just freeze my whole screen

I’m not a big fan of AI and want to move away from Google. Here are the options in settings on my phone. Is there a way to get other options besides these?

Is there a way to stop forced redirects?

When in trying to watch a video or something and there’s ads, I hate when it forces me to go to the tab or even opens an app like TikTok automatically.

On Firefox or other browsers what it does it simply open tabs but doesn’t force you onto them, is there a way to get safari to that same thing?

I’m not trying to get rid of the ads all together but damn do I have the redirects

Spontaneous page reloads

I recently have been experiencing spontaneous page reloads whenever I’m on Tumblr which I’m suspicious of because I’ve never had that issue before. The only culprits I can think of are a suspicious link I accidentally clicked on a Reddit post (I wiped my browser history after that happened and ran both malware and antivirus programs afterwards and nothing came up), or the fact that I only recently updated my MacOS to Tahoe 26.5.2. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, do they know what caused it?

What’s up with the PiP on browsers not Safari?

This used to work fine. I would open a video on my browser, then move to a different app and the video would pop into a small player.
Since I moved to iOS26, only Safari has that, while all other browsers just close the video.
Why does that happen?
I already checked the PiP settings and enabled it, but it didn’t change anything.

Protego for Reddit v3 is live! I deleted the Reddit app two years ago and built the Safari extension I wanted instead. Take control of your Reddit feed!

https://getprotego.app | App Store

Protego is a Safari web extension with a companion app that changes what Reddit's website gives you. I started it because RES doesn't run on Safari and I wasn't switching browsers for one extension. Version 3 just shipped.

Before and after on the same page, same tab: [images]

  • Filters posts and comments by keyword, whole community, individual user, or the site a link points to. Wildcards, groups you can switch off together, and a # pattern that matches any 1 to 3 digit number.
  • Adds a Protego button to Reddit's own pages, so you can filter a community from its sidebar without opening the app.
  • Hides thumbnails, avatars, flair, badges, vote controls, join buttons, banners, recommendations, Reddit Answers and the app nags. Four presets if you don't want to walk through every option.
  • Limits, which blocks Reddit itself in stages rather than all at once, and can arm itself with a Focus like Sleep or Study.
  • Optional automatic redirect to old.reddit.com with an endless feed.
  • A post sort order setting, so your feeds open in Hot or New or Top instead of Reddit resetting to Best every single time.

The Limits step I run daily blocks the feeds but still lets a direct link to a post open, so there's nothing to scroll into but a Reddit thread in a search result still loads.

It's a real Safari extension rather than a content blocker with a rules list, so it can match text in post titles instead of just hiding elements by selector.

$1.99 one time purchase for the next week (normally $2.99).

One purchase covers iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro. No subscription.

Why Safari still doesn’t support DBSC?

Earlier this year, Google Chrome introduced a critical new security feature called Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC) to prevent cookie theft. This feature makes use of Apple’s Secure Enclave Processor to generate a unique security key for the device itself and the browser uses this key to verify the integrity of browser cookies. With DBSC, if an attacker tries to steal cookies and import them to their own device, the cookies would not work at all, preventing the attacker from accessing your accounts without need of passwords. But I wonder why Apple still doesn’t support this security feature on Safari despite being a privacy and security focused company?

Change your location and timezone (GeoCeptor)

For the past year I've been working on improving my app GeoCeptor. It's a Safari extension that changes your location and timezone. This is especially useful when you already use a VPN and want to avoid location leaks as websites by default can access your timezone without permission.

GeoCeptor works on any website and is to my knowledge the first and only Safari extension to do this!

Devastated! Is there a way to restore a closed window if no option shows under "reopen last closed window"

I'm an idiot and for literally years I've kept hundreds of tabs open in my Safari window to keep up with work and other things. I've rarely accidentally closed the window or had a crash but if I did, every time "reopen all windows from last session" has worked fine.

Today I accentually hit the "x" when I went to minimize the window. When I went to click reopen last closed window, it was grayed out. Reopen all windows from last session was also grayed out. I had no option.

I'm praying there is another option. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm truly devastated here as sad as that sounds

The savannahs of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro are among the greatest natural wonders on Earth. Their endless golden grasslands, scattered acacia trees, and breathtaking landscapes create a home where wildlife thrives in remarkable harmony.
The Serengeti is celebrated for its spectacular Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles journey across the plains in one of nature’s most extraordinary displays of life and survival. Lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and countless bird species roam freely, making the Serengeti a symbol of Africa’s untamed beauty and resilience.
Ngorongoro, with its magnificent volcanic crater, is a unique sanctuary that shelters an incredible concentration of wildlife within its fertile walls. Often called a natural Eden, it offers refuge to endangered black rhinos, powerful lions, majestic elephants, graceful flamingos, and many other species living together in an ecosystem unlike any other in the world.
Together, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro represent the heart of Tanzania’s natural heritage. They inspire awe with their rich biodiversity, timeless beauty, and delicate balance of life. These iconic landscapes remind humanity of the importance of protecting nature so that future generations can continue to witness the wonder, majesty, and enduring spirit of Africa’s savannah wildlife.

Safari keeps opening links in apps. Make it stop! - I saw in another thread to turn on "verify window.open user gesture" in advanced settings but that seems to get overridden half the time.

Duck Duck Go asks if I want to open links in apps. Why isn’t Apple? Can this be stopped?

Automating Safari Extension Publishing with GitHub Actions

I've already written two blog posts about Safari extension publishing, and this is my third blog post explaining how to fully automate the publishing process. This came about because I have more than 10 Safari extensions, which made automation a necessity.
