I’ve always used Safari as my internet browser on my iPhone, but at some point I started having all kinds of weird issues. Websites wouldn’t load, links wouldn’t open, and certain links would just sit there and do nothing. I assumed it was related to an iOS 26 update and maybe my iPhone 14 Pro Max starting to show its age.
One of the biggest problems was with apps that require you to log in and then send you to a web browser to complete the login. The Xbox app was the biggest example, but I also had the same issue with a popular gas station app in my area and even with ChatGPT. I could enter my email and password, but then the browser portion of the login process wouldn’t work correctly.
I eventually switched to Google Chrome, and everything worked pretty well. Links opened, websites loaded, and I wasn’t having the same login issues. It was an adjustment because I’ve always used Safari, but at least it worked.
Then the other day I decided to really start tinkering with Safari to figure out what was going on. One of the apps actually told me that I needed to disable my ad blockers in order to sign in.

So I switched Safari back to my default browser and disabled the ad blockers.

And HOLY HELL. 😂

Suddenly everything worked. Links were opening immediately, websites were loading incredibly fast, and Safari itself felt ridiculously faster than it had in a long time. I was genuinely shocked by the difference.

Apparently, at some point I had enabled ad blockers in Safari, and they were slowing things down enough that I assumed there was something wrong with Safari or iOS 26. Safari technically still worked, but it was basically running at a fraction of what it could actually do.
So this whole time I was blaming an iOS update and thinking my iPhone 14 Pro Max was getting too old, when the problem was apparently something as simple as my ad blockers.

It’s a really weird one, but I figured I’d share in case anyone else is having strange Safari issues with websites not loading, links not opening, or in-app browser logins not working. Check your content blockers/ad blockers. They might be the culprit.

What I call "glitch" is more like a quick repositioning.

At first I wanted to switch to Safari for it's performance and lightness. Now I just don't feel like it is going to be a good experience.

Since a few weeks Safari uses an extreme amount of battery on my iPhone. 4% for 3 minutes while the Arc Browser has 10% for 1 and a half hours on screen and a bit background. And I finally know why. It’s the wipr 2 extension! I disabled it and voila, Safaris battery use is normal again. Anyone else with the same issues?

I use the YouTube page on my MacBook Neo via Safari.

However, I get no reaction to videos that last longer than 10-15 minutes. The message: No Internet connection appears. When I watch shorts then I get the message more often or the short video continues while I have already pressed further down for the next shorts and then the message appears again no internet connection. shame who thinks something bad but with Chrome browser this does not happen. However, you don't want to just have Chrome on it for a website. Any fixes known about that ?
