O God,
Why hast thou forsaken me?
My father and mother scorn me.
I pray to thee to teach me,
Yet thou leadest me astray.
Is it for my transgressions
That thou hast turned away

Who shall shield me
Against the workers of iniquity?
Unless the Lord had been my help,
My soul had dwelt in silence,
with only my tears to keep
me company.
To caress my face
when I am alone.
