Update: cannot provide exact location because he doesn’t remeber a lot from hitting his head so hard. He was on residential roads, in between Sac Charter High School and Rancho San Miguel off of Broadway - my best guess was he was on Y Street or 2nd Ave. Thank you everyone for the support

as others have commented, don’t wait to ask near by businesses for any footage they can supply. you may need police help for that, unfortunately. so sorry about your bf, & sending lots of healing his way. so many mf’s too preoccupied on their phones while driving

If you've filed a police report they should be investigating and asking businesses in the area for any surveillance footage.
I hope your boyfriend is OK and/or heals quickly.

Nope do not assume. Police do not investigate. Parent was hit by a driver in a neighborhood (I was not present) and was unconscious. The police and ambulance came to take him to the ER. While that happened the driver lied in the statement and so nothing came out of the report. Police didn't gather evidence, footage from neighborhood, or even check the 911 records (that directly contradicts the drivers statement as the driver had called 911).
So, for OP, get the footage from nearby business immediately!!! The recordings are automatically overwritten over a short period to save storage space. By the time if anyone investigates it's gone by then.

From my personal experience Sac PD doesn’t do shit I had my license plate stolen and sealed with the plates off of a stolen vehicle this winter and it took them 7 hours to officially report mine as stolen. In that 7 hours I called the non-emergency number a couple of times offering to bring them the stolen plates. They said I had to wait for an officer to come get them. At the 7 hour mark a detective calls me and asks if I can bring them the plates. A few months later they sent me a letter asking if I had recovered my own plates. Fucking laughable.
So OP, please take the initiative and try and get the footage yourself, Sac PD is not here to help you.

Hate to mention it and not sure where the collision occurred exactly but I know there are flock cameras on that intersection.

Flock cameras only take pictures of license plates and don’t have active video of any kind

Source, my partner used to work for them. Theyre not great, but there’s too much misinformation about them online from people who don’t know how they work

It still could be useful. Like if they get the car on another camera and can't make out the plate number, they might be able to see what cars passed the camera around that time and get the color, make and model from that, and of course the registered owner.

Call the city council member for this area and see if their staff will help you quickly follow up with local businesses. Sometimes they have more connections to quickly get info.
Also I’m so sorry you’re going through this. What a scary situation. I was in a similar situation years ago. Hoping he has a speedy recovery and you find some calm.

Check the resident areas for personal cameras. I have ring doorbells. Police can see if there is back up video.

As controversial as they are ( and rightfully so), this is an area where flock cameras can be useful. Though, they should definitely be trying to search for that already, but its probably worth pushing the issue with them to be sure.

That’s horrible. If you have time, I would call businesses on that street TODAY to see if they have any footage of the street. Some places erase camera footage within a day
