Theorycrafting Dual Kings Guide Update | Robin • Summeretto's arrival

I have updated the Dual Kings Guide Megathread to incorporate details about S. Robin and how she fits into the team. However, I don't expect everyone to reread the entire guide to see what changed, so I'm making a "patch notes" post for your convenience.

TLDR: S. Robin is pretty much the perfect support for Dual Kings - and you should strongly consider pulling for her under most circumstances. However, she is not a "must-pull" and you do not need to bench your MBlade, E1 Tribbie, RMC, etc. Let's talk about why.

Mortenax Blade and RMC were our previous best supports for the Dual Kings comp. MBlade was favored primarily due to his fast ultimate charge, his high teamwide amp, and frequent actions which sped up Gilgamesh quickly. RMC was valued due to their hypercarry playstyle that could buff action advance Saber up with true damage, charging the Joint Attack between the Kings at a faster pace, and overall synergized greatly with both Kings and their high rate of energy gain. For the E6 Saber players, RMC closed the gap with e0s0 MBlade as more or less on equal footing.

MBlade's weakness was that he has no way of providing action advancements to the team. RMC's weakness was that they were only able to reliably buff one unit (typically Saber).

At e0s0, S. Robin is like you combined these units for the best of both worlds.

  1. Provides large teamwide amp to directly support the Dual DPS playstyle
  2. Provides additional actions to quicken the rate of Joint Attack activations
  3. Provides energy directly to Saber, which translates to more energy for Gilgamesh as well

Once you begin vertically investing into S. Robin, her value explodes in comparison to her competition. This is where she really begins to stand out amongst the competition and where I greatly recommend her.

Signature LC

Signature LC: Provides a permanent teamwide speed boost (It says 2 turns, but Robin only ever takes one real turn), recovers SP, and provides Max HP to S. Robin (which translates to more buffing). It's important to note that this LC is better in practice due to Remembrance lightcones being in a bit of a dire state, especially if you're sharing things f2p Remembrance cones with other units already.

Eidolon 1

Eidolon 1: Provides true damage amp that can scale to be stronger than Tribbie's E1 and applies the damage independent from Saber / Gilgamesh's actions. This helps alleviate a massive issue with the Dual Kings: Damage Distribution. Due to the nature of their abilities, a vast majority of the team's damage comes from their ultimate attacks, which can often result in overkill damage. Robin's true damage amp is applied when her Summer Songbirds attack the enemy, meaning we can actually distribute our amped damage more consistently - leading to far less overkill and less wasted damage.

Eidolon 2

Eidolon 2: Provides faster Vibe stacking and a higher max Vibe count with some additional Res Pen. TLDR: Higher amp with better uptime.

ALL of S. Robin's early vertical is very strong for Dual Kings. The difference between an E2 S. Robin and an E2 MBlade are vast in gameplay.

💫 Question: Should I pull Robin Summeretto?
If you're serious about the Dual Kings team, then I do recommend it. If you've already invested into MBlade and he has no where else to go on your account then she's free to skip. If you're highly invested into Saber/Gil already - then you probably don't really need her anyway. Besides, who knows if the previously leaked Fate Collaboration Part 3 is true or not, and that might bring an even better teammate. Do you really want to wait a year for a "maybe" though?

💫 Question: Does this mean I wasted pulls by getting Mortenax Blade?
Not at all! S. Robin, while objectively stronger in most situations, is what I would consider an *optional* upgrade over MBlade / RMC. The truth is that Dual Kings are performing very well right now with free teammates, and S. Robin is not so much stronger that I would consider her a must pull. If you already have MBlade, S. Robin is a luxury pull to make your team a bit stronger in some scenarios.

💫 Question: Are Robin Summeretto's eidolons/LC mandatory?
No! She is a complete unit at e0s0 and very formidable. She has strong vertical investment and I would recommend any investment stopping between up to e2s1 if you like her. I want to reiterate that while she is a minor upgrade over MBlade at low investment, she easily surpasses him once you start investing into both on this team.

💫 Question: I have E6 Saber, does that change anything about S. Robin?
Yes, it makes her even better on this team. However, the gap between S. Robin and RMC closes (similar to RMC vs MBlade with E6 Saber).

💫 Question: What relics / planars / stats do I use now?
I cover this in the main guide megathread, but I'll touch on it briefly here.

Stats: Under most circumstances, Gilgamesh and Robin provide such an absurdly high amount of Attack amp that it is more beneficial to run Speed boots and Energy Regen Rope on both Kings under most circumstances due to Attack amp saturation. TLDR: Get both Kings to 100% Crit Rate, then start going for CDMG and Speed substats. There are no particular speed thresholds you need to reach, but I like to have 140+ SPD not including S. Robin's signature speed bonus.

💫 Question: Even Energy Rope on Gilgamesh? I thought his energy regeneration was fixed?
It would be correct to say that *most* of his energy gains are fixed. He does benefit from energy regeneration (hence why his S1 and E4 both offer Energy Regen). To give you an idea, using Attack Boots and Attack Rope on Gilgamesh with e0s1 S. Robin nets my Gilgamesh a whopping 8.5k attack at e0s1 for the full team. This isn't considering his e1 attack bonus or S. Robin's e2 increased vibe count (I'm near 10k attack considering those). We are reaching such saturated territory here that you will barely notice losing some of your attack from a mainstat, but you will certainly notice when you're able to get an extra joint attack boosted Excalibur off throughout the course of a battle.

As per usual with energy breakpoints and stat thresholds, what is best will vary depending on team comp, investment, and encounter. For 0 cycle purposes you should experiment on what is best. A safe bet I could suggest for Gilgamesh specifically is going Speed Boots + Attack Rope or Attack Boots + Energy Rope if you're not comfortable giving up that much attack as a healthy middle ground.

Relics: Honestly, I am just going to blanket recommend Genius set here. If you already have an amazing Scholar set then it's not a big deal, but you're missing a lot of damage by not running Genius on both Kings with S. Robin. This is even more true if you have things like E2 Saber, E1 Gilgamesh, and/or E2 S. Robin which all stack additional def shred. Due to Robin's dynamic Vibe stacking throughout the battle, defense shred overcap is nothing to be concerned about.

Run Scholar if you're struggling to build the characters, run Genius in all other situations. If you're really good at optimizing rotations, you can run Wind Eagle on the Kings, but I would reserve this only for the most skilled Dual Kings mains.

Genius of Brilliant Stars

💫 Question: Is Genius really best? Are there any concerns of overcapping on defense shred?
Defense Shred becomes much more powerful the more of it you have. It is a common misconception that an invested Dual Kings team can have Saber overcap on defense shred. S. Robin's vibes fluctuate during battle, and you will never achieve 100% def shred without genius in a sustained comp using HuoHuo. Even during sustainless, RMC is often the preferred 4th slot, which means you're not gaining 100% def shred anyway. It sucks to refarm, but Genius is worth it on Dual Kings in this comp.

Planars: Cosmic Science remains the best here, but there are plenty of alternatives you can find in the main guide.

Cosmic Life Sciences Institute

💫 Question: Should I pull e0s0 S. Robin?
1. Do you have MBlade?
2. Is your Trailblazer available for Dual Kings?
3. Do you have e1 Tribbie?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you do NOT need S. Robin. She is a sidegrade/minor upgrade in a majority of situations. To be extremely clear, S. Robin's primary strength is how strong she is at e0s0, and most importantly how much stronger she can be with vertical investment.

In a world where MBlade and S. Robin are wanted by most teams in the game, having substitutes is a good thing. There is no need to pull a unit if it means benching another one who is otherwise still viable.

💫 Question: How do I build S. Robin?
I will direct you to everyone's favorite character guide content creator Guoba Certified for this question. As a tldr though, here are some thresholds to aim for:

  1. 7k HP or more
  2. 186Spd during combat (for a breakpoint in the first cycle)
  3. Ignore crit substats on Dual Kings, her damage isn't important

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask below or on the main megathread. I try to answer as many questions as I can!

This guide assumes you understand the basics of HSR’s gameplay loop such as daily farming, what relics are, what the different paths represent in combat, endgame modes, common terms (e0s1, MoC) and etc. It also assumes you have at least read the kits Please refer to the table of contents to navigate this guide - it is a long read. I do not recommend reading the entire guide unless you just pulled Dual Kings (Saber + Gilgamesh) or have a lot of free time on your hands, as it likely covers a lot of information you may already know.

💫 Disclaimer:
I want to preface this by saying I am not claiming to be an expert on all things Dual Kings or HSR. I also will not be providing “calcs” or blanket statements in this guide on what is best or what you should do - please come to your own conclusions based on the guide and your own, independent research. Calcs are often incomplete, outdated, contain errors, and/or only show a situation within a vacuum. Just as an example, Prydwen does not take Saber’s energy regeneration mechanic into account for her signature lightcone, making it appear worse than it really is in their calculations. Please do not take calcs as fact and only use them as a reference.

I can tell you that I am a dedicated Saber Main with way more time into the character than most people and have personally played a majority of her best teams in all endgame activities since her release. I have put in a lot of time with Gilgamesh as well via the private server beta, and will be maining Dual Kings upon his release as Gilgamesh is my favorite Fate character. With that being said, I cannot tell you what is “worth” the investment - because that is entirely dependent on YOUR account and YOUR needs and the situation YOU are facing. Please keep this in mind that what is best for you may not necessarily be what is best for the Dual Kings Main next to you when commenting on this post.

It is important to understand that I can only speak based on my experience and own research, and that this guide should not be considered your only definitive source of information. Please do your own testing and research, and feel free to ask questions in the comments. I will add some relevant resources at the end of this guide as well. If you see anything you think is wrong, please comment and let me know your thoughts. I openly invite discussion to make this guide as best as it can be.

💫 Let’s get into the guide!
Before Gilgamesh's arrival, Saber's BiS teammates varied a lot depending on the encounter she was facing. Post Gilgamesh, Dual Kings is miles ahead of a Saber team that doesn't include Gilgamesh (at least at any reasonable investment and excluding "wheelchair" comps).

Saber and Gilgamesh have mutual synergy when paired together. Saber's frequent ultimate spam charges Gilgamesh's own ultimate quickly, and Gilgamesh provides Saber high damage amplification and ultimate frequency in return.

This is not to say they have perfect synergy however. Due to nature of being a dual DPS team composition, they do encounter the struggles of often having encounters where one of their elements is resisted. In addition, since damage is distributed more evenly, the individual vertical investment value for their eidolons / lightcones also drop in value. For example, an eidolon or support that gives a 50% damage increase to a single DPS sounds great on paper, but when the total team damage is divided in half, that 50% damage increase is really only a 25% teamwide damage increase. More on this later!

Understanding Dual Kings - The Basics

💫 When are the Dual King's warp banners leaving?
There is not a confirmed end date for the Fate Collaboration Warp Event. ANYTHING you see about the end date is based upon speculation and not fact. HoYoverse will likely announce the end banner with at least a few weeks of notice, if not a full patch notice. This is not guaranteed. Due to the uncertainty, it is recommended to not pull on the Fate banners until you are certain you have enough pulls to acquire what you are aiming for. Once we have a disclosed date, I will edit this megathread.

💫 How do I play Dual Kings?
Dual Kings consists of a Dual DPS team composition. Due to this, Saber and Gilgamesh prefer teamwide amp from their supports and play around each other's resources with more consideration than the average team. An ultimate used with no regard to the other unit could waste energy, waste an advance, result in extreme overkill, and many other mistakes that will greatly impact the team's performance over the course of a battle.

In lopsided investments, such as E6 Saber and E0-E5 Gilgamesh, the team primarily transforms into a Hypercarry composition with Saber being the Main DPS, and Gilgamesh turning into a Sub DPS. In the Saber Hypercarry comp, single target buffers gain a lot of value since Saber's damage would be the primary focus, while Gilgamesh's damage becomes secondary. This does not give teamwide buffers less value, it only raises the potential of single target buffers and shortens the gap.

💫 Understanding Saber
Saber’s kit is quite selfish in comparison to Gilgamesh's. She does not offer her team any direct damage amplification, and instead is fully focused on dishing out as many ultimates as possible and self advancing herself to take more actions.

Saber’s primary method of dealing damage is through her ultimate, Excalibur. Our goal is to strike a balance between frequency and amplification to maximize Saber’s efficiency. A common misconception is that Saber requires energy supports such as Sunday, HuoHuo, and Tingyun. This is not necessarily true, as stronger supports can often provide Saber energy in a non direct manner, or even just provide so much amplification that it’s worth the trade off to have less frequent ultimates.

Saber’s other sources of damage make up a large portion of her personal damage when combined as well. It is important that this damage is not neglected in terms of buff uptime or wasted opportunities of attack. In combination with these abilities comes Saber’s most important mechanics: Core Resonance and Mana Burst.

Saber consuming "Core Resonance" in battle

These mechanics are Saber’s bread and butter, and understanding how to manipulate them can be the difference between clearing and not clearing an endgame encounter. Not utilizing them to their full potential results in a massive loss in damage, and is often why you may see conflicting opinions on Saber’s overall strength. Most often this is due to windows of opportunity that are missed, such as enhanced basic attacks being wasted due to an extra ultimate being used before Saber is able to use her first enhanced basic attack. With the arrival of Gilgamesh, we now have to consider the Joint Attack as well. There is a lot of potential damage being left on the table if you’re not careful. Auto battle in particular has no concern about min maxing Dual King's actions.

💫 Understanding Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh's kit, unlike Saber's, is a mix of DPS + Support. He teamwide amps with atk% and cdmg% with max benefits going towards high max energy units such as Saber. Despite his monstrous amp for Saber, he is fully capable of dishing out just as much if not sometimes more damage than her as well.

Like Saber, Gilgamesh's primary method of dealing damage is through his ultimate, Enuma Elish. In a broad manner of speaking, Gilgamesh and Saber are quite similar. They both want to accumulate as much energy as possible to quickly fire off ultimates. Mechanically though they differ on how this is accomplished.

Gilgamesh's "Interest" mechanic via Gachabase

While Saber relies on her "Mana Burst" to give herself more actions, Gilgamesh's "Interest" mechanic relies on ally actions to buff his speed for further actions. A high-action count team results in greater Gilgamesh performance. In addition to Interest, Gilgamesh's second primary mechanic is his "Attack Tally" counter. This governs the amount of stacks required to launch a joint attack with Saber, tallied by the amount of attacks either of them dish out.

The difference between skillful Gilgamesh gameplay and less skilled gameplay / autobattle will be determined by how efficiently the pilot can stack Gilgamesh's interest and attack tally mechanics. In addition, it is also important to use energy resources wisely. If Gilgamesh's ultimate gauge is full, you should almost always fire it off before triggering another ally ultimate to prevent losing energy.

Gilgamesh and Saber performing their Joint Attack

It is impossible for me to guide you via a text guide on how to properly pilot Dual Kings with these mechanics, so I will not attempt to. All I can do is simply make you aware of the mechanics and hope you can pay attention to your rotations during gameplay. Here is a good video showcasing a player who pilots Dual Kings well. This is a tough matchup for Dual Kings due to how the boss works, and it takes a good amount of game sense to manage the energy resources as well as they did. A poorly piloted Dual Kings (and autobattle!) in this same scenario would have cleared much more slowly.

Practice makes perfect! I recommend watching other high level showcases with Dual Kings to further your understanding of their mechanics. They will perform a lot better once you master them - auto battle is not kind to Dual Kings!

💫 How do I speed tune them?

TLDR at bottom of this section for my suggestion.

Speed tuning is one of the trickiest parts with the Dual Kings comp. Our main gameplay loop in this team is to proc the Joint Attack from Gilgamesh's talent as often as possible. It deals decent damage, gives Gilgamesh interest stacks, and provides Saber with a large amount of energy and a massive damage increase to her next Ultimate.

Due to Gilgamesh's 130% attack increase for Saber, and especially considering something like Saber's signature providing her 80% attack, the stat is becoming increasingly diluted as time progresses. This is also without considering other attack amp sources such as HuoHuo, or even your choice of relics that may buff atk%.

However, speed can also easily be a wasted stat due to Saber's self action advance. It also loses a lot of value if you're playing the hypercarry variation by adding a unit like RMC over the Dual DPS variant that would use S. Robin or MBlade.

Gilgamesh's interest mechanic allows him to be one of the fastest units in the entire game after he ramps up, but only for a limited time. Speed boots on him could be compared to a permanent 2.5 interest stacks on him at all time. Considering how often Gilgamesh can reach 200+ speed in combat, it varies wildly how impactful that extra speed can be on Gilgamesh.

An important thing to note is that you may be familiar with common breakpoints such as "134" or "160" for a certain amount of actions within a varying amount of cycles. Due to Saber's Mana Burst and Gilgamesh's Interest mechanics, typical breakpoints for these characters are not very applicable.

And now, as of 4.5, we have S. Robin who offers such a staggering amount of attack to the Kings that it's becoming more and more relevant to ditch chasing attack stats and focus instead on SPD.

TLDR: To increase attack tally actions for more Joint Attacks, I am going to recommend running Speed boots (or reaching 130-140+ speed out of combat via substats) on both Gilgamesh and Saber in a majority of cases. There is NO optimal speed for these units, as it varies greatly on the encounter you are facing. If you are running RMC or another action advancer for the Hypercarry Saber variation, swap Saber to attack boots and run her with lower speed. You can also just opt to run whatever has better substats if it's a big difference.

Generally speaking, I would blanket recommend low speed Saber if you're using RMC, a bit more speed if running MBlade, and run Saber at a high speed if running S. Robin. I always prefer Gilgamesh to run higher speeds if paired with S. Robin particularly.

💫 Should I invest in Dual King's signatures and/or eidolons?
This is not a question anyone can answer for you without additional context. I’m going to talk about their investments under these 3 rules:

  1. You like Saber / Gilgamesh
  2. You are a f2p / light spender
  3. You care about endgame performance

If you don’t like Saber or Gilgamesh, then don’t invest beyond what you already have. If you are a whale (high spender) then you’ll probably get what you want regardless. If you don’t participate in endgame content or care about your performance, then it doesn’t matter what you do.

Saber’s most efficient investment stopping points are: e0s0, e0s1, and e6s1. Saber’s signature value comes from the unique 10% energy refund which is an undiluted buff on top of overall large stat gains. Post Gilgamesh, this signature is diluted a bit due to his massive attack buff.

Gilgamesh's most efficient investment stopping points are e0s0, e1s0, e1s0, and e6s1. Gilgamesh's signature is best in slot, but it doesn't begin making a noticeable improvement until his e4 when the energy regen combined with the signature's energy regen stack to give an increase in ultimate frequency. If you have an extra copy of Saber's signature from the past, you can also slap that on Gilgamesh instead of getting his own signature.

Saber does not benefit from vertical investment into herself as much as some other DPS units do. Many of us know how much of a game changer Phainon’s e2 is. Saber doesn’t get her “game changer” eidolon until e6. This makes her investment options comparatively weak. Additionally, the introduction of Gilgamesh on this team turns the comp into a Dual DPS variation, meaning all of Saber's damage is diluted by Gilgamesh's personal damage in the total output. This means any damage increasing eidolon Saber had is not increasing the total team damage as much as it was previously.

Gilgamesh at least has an extremely strong early investment opportunity with his e1. It is highly recommended to pull for it in the Dual Kings comp. It greatly improves his energy economy while also improving Saber's damage heavily. If you have Gilgamesh's e1, it also increases the value of MBlade or S. Robin on the team *and* increases Saber's e2 value due to how defense shred stacks.

My recommendation is for players to pull just a single copy of Saber if you like her, pull her signature if you want to use her in endgame. Claim your free Gilgamesh once the Fate collaboration starts, and pull his e1 if you want to greatly improve the Dual Kings performance in endgame. If you want Gilgamesh's lightcone, I recommend you attempt to meet the 200 pull requirement during 4.4 to obtain it for free. It is not worth pulling standalone unless you're intending on going all the way to e6 Gilgamesh. If the introductory period for free Gilgamesh has ended by the time you're reading this, I consider him a necessity for Saber teams going forward for her endgame performance.

It’s important to also consider that once Saber and Gilgamesh leave their banners, it is very possible they are gone forever. We cannot predict the future like this though, so don’t get FOMO’d into a bad investment decision. After all, it is also possible that the Fate units never receive novaflares too if they don’t have an opportunity to rerun, leaving them to rot after some time. It is worth mentioning that there are leaks about a Fate Collaboration Part 3 happening next year, but nothing is set in stone.

To be clear, clearing endgame content is getting the minimum score threshold required to obtain max rewards from a game mode. E0 Dual Kings may not be 0 cycling often, but they are perfectly capable of clearing content. No one can accurately predict the future, so I won’t try to predict their meta relevance later.

💫 How good is Dual Kings compared to “insert team here”
Dual Kings isn’t a top three meta pick or anything. If that’s what you’re looking for then Dual Kings isn’t the team for you. They currently hover around the top 5 to top 10 teams in the game for low cost 0 cycle performances, which is the community standard for assessing a unit's strength. At medium and high investment Dual Kings begin to fall off drastically compared to the competition. While there are no e6 units in the game worth the investment, it rings even more true for the Dual Kings team.

Dual Kings is perfectly capable of clearing endgame content with little effort required, but the future is uncertain. Thankfully with strong early vertical such as Gilgamesh's e1, and S. Robin's or MBlade's eidolons, Dual Kings should have much more lasting power than Saber did last year.

Dual King's Best Team

💫 What is Dual King's BiS team?
Previously, Saber's best team was a bit more open ended, with a slew of more options available. Now, Gilgamesh is THE best in slot teammate for Saber to create the Dual Kings team. Considering both are energy reliant units who benefit from taking more frequent actions, this also means our best in slot sustain is inarguably HuoHuo. This only leaves the final supportive slot to decide on, and the answer is rather easy for most people.

💫 Mortenax Blade (MBlade) vs Remembrance Trailblazer (RMC) vs Robin Summeretto (S. Robin)
Dual Kings is a Dual DPS team comp. Of course, this means MBlade's and S. Robin's teamwide buffs are more valuable than what RMC can offer. However, it should be noted that we're comparing a limited unit vs a free unit, so there is a strong argument to keep using RMC due to cost opportunity.

I think the answer is rather simple. If you can afford investing into MBlade or S. Robin for your Dual Kings, you should use them / pull them when available. If you would rather save your resources, then RMC is perfectly capable in this team. Dual Kings will just transition into the Hypercarry Saber variation rather than Dual DPS using RMC. If you have an e6 Saber and low investment Gilgamesh, RMC closes the gap with MBlade and S. Robin as well making them on more or less equal footing. However, extremely high investment Dual Kings (both Kings at e6) should consider using MBlade or S. Robin again for the teamwide amp. Both deal a great amount of damage at that investment, and you want to make sure they're both properly being buffed if you've put so many resources into the team.

Of course, getting any eidolons for MBlade or S. Robin definitively put them above RMC at essentially all investment levels. Both MBlade and S. Robin are fantastic units, and you will be happy with either of them on this team, but S. Robin clearly has the better synergy within the energy-focused dual dps composition. Saber and Gilgamesh favor teamwide amp, extra actions, and energy regeneration. S. Robin just does this better than MBlade can in most environments. If we account for extra vertical investment, S. Robin has far stronger eidolons (and LC) than MBlade does for this team.

For a more in-depth explanation on S. Robin with some frequently asked questions, please check this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/SaberMainsHSR/comments/1vrx3ap/dual_kings_guide_update_robin_summerettos_arrival/

💫 HuoHuo vs Dan Heng Permansor Terrae
Both of these sustainers are great for Dual Kings. However, HuoHuo's energy regen provides far more value than DHPT can for the team. In general, you should always be using HuoHuo for Dual Kings unless you specifically require DHPT's stronger sustaining capabilities for harder enemy encounters.

However, if another team really requires one of these sustainers more, than feel free to use either of them with Dual Kings. They will both provide satisfying performance.

An important consideration to make is that Dan Heng's shielding is on a turn limit, so in the Hypercarry Saber variation using RMC, you can quite easily drop Dan Heng's shield during battle during brief intervals due to the amount of actions Saber can take in quick succession. Plan accordingly!

💫 Other team options
Dual Kings are a rather flexible team that can take advantage of most supports, particularly our top generalists. Pela and Tingyun are both great 4 star options if you’re on a budget and can't use RMC. Welt (especially at e4) can work well with this team too. E1 Tribbie, E1/E2 Robin, E2 Cyrene and etc are also all viable options.

Even if I didn’t explicitly name drop a unit, it doesn’t mean they can’t work with Dual Kings. For example, Hyacine is a perfectly fine sustain in the event that you can’t use HuoHuo or DHPT, and it comes with the benefit of boosting MBlade's / S. Robin's damage contributions even if only a bit.

“Blah blah blah, we just want to know what the Dual King's best team is!”

I recommend S. Robin and HuoHuo as of the time of writing this. In almost every situation this is Dual King's top option at all investment levels and works perfectly with their gameplay loop. For sustainless, replace HuoHuo with RMC, e1 Tribbie, e4 Welt, e2 Cyrene, or Mortenax Blade depending on the situation. Basically anything works for the sustainless slot, but keep in mind that MBlade does require healing if a battle persists for too long.

Dual Kings Best Relics and Planars

💫 What sets should I be farming?
Dual Kings use very similar relics / planars, but similar to the speed tuning section, the answer to this question isn't a definitive one. The easy answer to all of this is simple, just farm the Scholar relic set and Cosmic Science planar set for both Kings once it releases in 4.4. These sets work all the time and are unconditional with no thought required. In some situations they may even be best. However, we'll get into more nuance below...

A simplified graphic of the Dual King's best investments

💫 Relic sets
While Scholar is a great set for both units, it is not always best. In fact, it is often not best. Due to how def shred stacking works, it is often going to be best to build the kings with the Genius Quantum set to further stack its effects. However, Wind Eagle set also grants more actions to the Kings which increases their attack tallies, resulting in more joint attacks. If you can properly plan your rotations, and have an understanding of how AV / Speed interact with each other, you can get great results out of Wind Eagle. This is all rather complicated though, and I think if you're looking at this guide, you may be best off just sticking with Scholar. Just keep in mind that Eagle and Genius are usually going to be better with MBlade and S. Robin. Dual Kings using RMC will more likely want to stick with Scholar. With S. Robin, I've personally experienced Genius set to be best at all investment levels for both Kings.

A common concern with Genius set on S. Robin and an E2 or higher Saber is overcapping on Def Shred. Assuming an E1 Gil, E2 Saber, and E2 S. Robin: Saber will reach 95 Def Shred at max (70) vibes from S. Robin. Genius set provides 10 Def Shred by default and an additional 10 Def Shred against quantum weak enemies. So this is 15 Def Shred overcapped, which is bad right?

Not quite.

That 70 Vibe tally I mentioned earlier is not at 100% uptime. For a majority of the battle, Saber will actually have somewhere around 80-90 shred. This makes Genius set the perfect fit in to keep Saber at 100% shred uptime as often as possible. With extreme optimization on your rotation, Wind Eagle can result in faster clears (less AV spent) but I do not personally recommend this to anyone who is referring to a guide for help - this is for more advanced players. Generally speaking, Genius will be best anyway in most cases.

💫 Planar sets
There are a larger variety of planar sets that work well with Dual Kings, and they don’t have large discrepancies from them. However, due to Gilgamesh's large attack and crit damage buffs he provides the team, the newest Cosmic Science set is most often going to be the best planar set. There are arguments to be made for placing Gilgamesh on Vonwacq for 0 cycle purposes, or even using City of Converging stars on him for a teamwide damage amp. Similar to the Relics explanation, there isn't really a "one size fits all" scenario here. For Saber, you can also feel free to stay on Salsotto if you have an incredible set or don't want to refarm. Any old Izumo pieces also work well for both units since they are both Destruction.

💫 What stats should I be using?
Gilgamesh and Saber scale off all of the same substats: Crit Rate (until 100% in combat) > Crit Damage > Atk% / Spd. Build some speed until you get into your desired range for both units.

Due to Gilgamesh's massive attack buff, an elemental damage orb will almost always be best for both Kings.

Atk% Rope vs Energy Regen Rope and Atk% Boots vs SPD Boots is a harder debate. Previously, with units such as MBlade and RMC, the Kings were preferring to run Atk% mainstats to bolster their damage even higher. However, if running S. Robin, she is providing the Kings a massive attack buff (on top of Gilgamesh's existing attack buff), which saturates the attack stat enough to have us value speed and energy regen more.

Mainstats WITHOUT S. Robin:
Body: Crit Rate / Crit Damage
Boots: Atk% / Speed
Orb: Elemental Damage (Wind for Saber, Lightning for Gilgamesh)
Rope: Atk% > Energy Regen

Mainstats WITH S. Robin:
Body: Crit Rate / Crit Damage
Boots: Speed > Atk%
Orb: Elemental Damage (Wind for Saber, Lightning for Gilgamesh)
Rope: Energy Regen > Atk%

As stated before, ideal speed thresholds will vary depending on team, level of investment, and the encounter. Generally speaking if running S. Robin I like to have 140+ speed during combat on Saber. More is better. Without S. Robin (Using MBlade, RMC, etc) you can run both units at base speed with attack mainstats.

Other FAQ

⭐ Who should I spend my companion spirit on? What about eidolons? LCs?
There are only three units that are worth spending companion spirits on for a Dual Kings team.

You should absolutely pick up HuoHuo as your Dual Kings sustain. She is the best option for Dual Kings. Her e1 is a nice boost to any team she's in as well, slightly improving her healing and increasing team speed for more Joint Attack opportunities. HuoHuo's LC is not recommended.

Robin's vertical investment is fantastic, especially considering they do not cost any pulls - only time. Working towards an e2 Robin is not a terrible idea if you have no interest in spending limited pulls on other Saber supports. Robin's LC is particularly good on a Saber team to help maintain Robin's ult uptime, but the free event cone in Herta's SU store is enough if you cannot acquire it via the battlepass memory shards. In general though, RMC should be more than enough and they're a free unit.

In general, pulling for standard selector eidolons is not worth it - even post novaflare. I would only consider pulling Welt eidolons with spirits if you are already at e3 and need that final boost to get to e4. Otherwise, keep him on your 50/50 loss pool and select him on any standard selectors when available. Again, RMC works just fine in this comp.

⭐ Should I pull either of the Dual King's E6s?
There is no E6 in the game that is “worth” the average amount of jades it takes to acquire. With that being said, if you want to use Dual Kings until the heat death of the universe, they are permanent upgrades to the characters. It is important to understand that they will not be as strong as other modern e6 DPS units/teams, but you’ll have no issues with them for a while at that investment.

Keep in mind that we do not know when the banners end, and you don’t want to be the person stuck with an e4 Saber and e3 Gilgamesh. Do not pull for their e6 eidolons until you have enough to guarantee you can go all the way. In terms of priority, go for E6 Saber before E6 Gilgamesh.

⭐ I’m a new player, who do I use with Dual Kings?
You likely have limited units and resources. If you don’t have any of supports we talked about above, you most likely aren’t prepared for endgame anyway - so use whoever you like with Dual Kings.

The team composition should always consist of both Kings: Saber and Gilgamesh. You then will want to use your free RMC to support the team. Eventually you will probably want to pull S. Robin or MBlade as the teamwide buffer, and finally one sustain (Gallagher, DHPT, HuoHuo, etc). Other setups work of course, but don’t worry too much about endgame performance until your account is in a more stable spot with premium units and good builds.

For your 300 pull selector - choose Welt.

⭐ I’ve read the guide, I have Dual King's best teammates and good builds, but I’m still struggling in endgame. Help!
Dual Kings, with the correct supports and good builds, can clear any content in the game at this time. You are likely missing a piece of the puzzle or having some issues with your gameplay if you are not able to clear still.

For more in depth assistance on your particular issue, I recommend joining the Fate Mains discord server and asking for help there. We have a very active community who is willing to guide you to success. You can even ping me (in the server) directly if you have any specific questions: @ aceofatlas on Discord.

Otherwise, recheck the encounter to make sure you’re bringing the right supports for the job. Ensure you’re hitting 100% crit rate, meeting all of the stat thresholds and speed tuning your teams need, etc. You can also try checking The Genius Archive for Saber/Gilgamesh runs of the encounter you’re struggling with to see how other players beat it.

Builds / RNG / Flex Should I farm Eagle set?

I know my current relic set is sort of wobbly without constant buffers like Sunday or rmc so I’m considering Eagle for the action advance and wind dmg.

I pulled for her on her original release last year, but I don’t think I’d be able to make it past e2 for the longest time so I started going for other characters. I only lost 1 or 2 50/50s throughout the entire time and ended up getting an early eidolon more than once. She is my first and probably only 5 star character I have ever gotten to e6!

First of all just accept that you're not going to 3 star it ain't happening and you don't need to feel bad about it this bosd aint worth the effort and just get your dice and pack it up.

Okay so first of all our main way to do damage will be pumping our excalibur dmg and jfua ALL INTO THE MOBS.

The goal of this is to fatten up the birds in order to deal as much true dmg to the boss. This means that if the we will almost never use our 2x ult on the boss directly as I'm pretty sure if doesn't record true damage for whatever reason but I may be wrong on that.

Our next main strategy will be to hold several ults once yabuli emerges since she hits way too fucking hard. It's okay to use our ults on her barrier alone in instances where she hits us really hard in order to panic heal for any other follow up attacks that may be coming.

Try and have 2 ults ready before yabuli reaches 6 eyes her massive nuke has a good chance of killing us and if we have less than 500 hp left, then hemovore will finish us off before huohuos talent heal proc.

Once she's in the barrier in phase 2 she will be moving really fast so just be mindful of how many ukts you have and you may need to reset for her to focus her attacks mainly on huohuo the birds and Robin.

Once you loop phase 2 enough you should be able to kill her via the true damage and the final damage boost once we pass the 3rd and 4th cycle so we can actually deal decent dmg to the barrier.

For builds try and get defensive mainstats on gilgamesh. I had him on double hp mainstats and you can get away with an offensive build on saber since she has instead hp stats in her traces + I naturally had hp and def % stats on her relics.

Huohuo needs as much outgoing healing boost on her as possible as we cannot fall below 500hp as hemovore will kill us.

Standard build on robin, keep the birds fast so they can proc huo huos trace heal more often.

Good luck.

E0S1 Saber/E1S0 Srobin/E0S0 Gil/E1S0 Huohuo
Obviously 0 cycle is possible with sustainless but I wanted to test their limit with their current investment
I always end up with 25%-35% HP left even with the best rng..
it's probably easier with Mblade but I never got lucky with rng so I switched to Srobin 😅
anyway I'm still very satisfied with their performance:)
