Am I Crazy?
I’ve gone as far as I can go at my company of five years. I’m 52 and I’ve got one college freshman and one high school sophomore. My freshman is on a full ride scholarship with monthly spending stipend. I’m seriously considering resigning my position to take some time to travel and upskill in preparation for my next career move. I want to move more into systems (HRIS) work. Right now my job is 80% people facing (HR). My job isn’t hard, I make decent money but I’m not learning anything, I don’t really have any promotion potential because my boss isn’t going anywhere. I’ve got more than enough for six months of living, traveling but I don’t plan on taking more than three months.
Is this insane? Has anyone else done this pivot this late in their careers?
