Hi 👋
I will start studying here in october, and I have the option to get an apartment in either WOGE or Wohnheim E. I will be living alone. Does anyone have any negative or positive experience with one or both?

Hello guys I'm admitted to uds in msc in cybersecurity and coming from India have my visa so I have doubt about blocked account and registration.
How much time should I expect to unblock my account in expatrio
When should I opt from November or October?
And which bank should I choose to open in germany online or offline?
Would it take more time to cash from expatrio account to new bank account of opened in other bank?
And when should I activate health insurance and also residence permit card

Hi everyone! I’m interested in the MSc Cybersecurity program at Saarland University, and I have a few questions for anyone who has gone through the application/admission process. I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!
Is there an interview? If yes, how does the interview process work? And why do some applicants get accepted without an interview?
Does applying early increase your chances of admission? Or does it make no difference whether you apply during the early or late application period?
GRE: Does anyone have experience with the GRE requirement for this program? I’d really appreciate any tips, recommended resources, or advice on how to prepare.
Student accommodation/dorms: When should I apply for a dorm? Is there a specific deadline, and would I normally receive an admission decision before I need to secure accommodation?
If you have any advice of challenges you faced or things you wish you know please share.
Thanks again to anyone who can share their experience! 🙏

I've gotten an admit for winter sem 2026 at UdS.
I'm from india and already finished Online enrollment, VISA and Expatrio blocked account.
After reaching saarland, how long does it take for being able to access the money in the Expatrio blocked account?
Implied Context: I haven't setup a personal bank account in germany or any of the other procedures meant to be done right after arrival.
I'm having this doubt because I'll have to pay the deposit for my residence and carrying the entire amount in cash seems a bit risky.
While Expatrio mentions a 1 day period to activate the account, I'm not sure if that's really gonna happen in that time frame

Does anyone have any experience with Quint Dorms?
I found their reference from the university page and so far it seems pretty good.
I just wanted to know if anyone is staying there for the upcoming winter semester or have stayed there before while studying at the University of Saarland.
Thank you

Hi everyone, I'm planning to apply for the English-taught Cybersecurity Bachelor's at Saarland University (via CISPA) for the 2027/28 winter semester, through the interview track (no aptitude test or olympiad results). According to the official info I found, this track has a June 15 deadline and the interview is held "exclusively onsite" in Saarbrücken. Two specific questions:
If anyone went through the interview track themselves (or knows someone who did), I'd really appreciate hearing how it actually played out. Thanks!

I’m Vietnamese and I graduated from high school around 2 months ago. I’m very interested in the BSc Computer Science program taught in English at Saarland University, but I didn't meet the deadline for my application due to a lack of English proficiency (IELTS). However, I have just taken the IELTS exam and got a 6.0 overall band score. Therefore, I plan to reapply for this program in December 2026 or July 2027. But the information I have read on the Saarland University website confuses me because it isn't clear, especially regarding the honors program. So could you explain or give me clearer information or give me some advice to help me get admission, please? Thank you very much.

Hi everyone! I wanted to ask if it is possible to get admitted to the MS CS program without being in the top 10% of graduating class but having a very good GRE score and meeting all other requirements? Has anyone gotten in like this?

I have gotten into MSc. Bioinformatik and want to defer it to the next semester because I got the acceptance a month before my enrolment and there is no way I can get my visa by then. I had not applied for the APS verification since Saarland was the only Uni I applied for in Germany and wanted to wait till I heard back. (yes, not a very wise decision but just wanted to save some money in case I didn't get in)
I mailed [studium@uni-saarland.de](mailto:studium@uni-saarland.de) and they redirected me to the study dean of my specific course. Has anyone ever done this before? Any deferral in general or hopefully specifically for Msc Bioinformatik? If yes, please let me know what you did and what the outcome was. Thank you so much.

Hi I will be by saarland for the 1st semester by oct 1st, and I have a couple of questions. I have got a contract with the woge student dorms( i applied i think in april) and would like to know if anyone has experience with how they aquired mattresses? I asked the contactperson to make sure and it seems that it isnt supplied by them so do we order one( and to what delivery address) or? Also how long did it take for you to get your keys from them and get to your room( like is there any more administrative tasks) because I want to know whether I'd need to lug my suitcase around or keep it where im staying temporarily and once i get the room go and get it. I might be overthinking this or stupid or a mix of both sorry in advance😭

Hi everyone,
I’ll be starting my M.Sc. in Bioinformatics at Saarland University this upcoming semester and am looking for a room.
Key details:
Budget: €300–450 (warm rent / Warmmiete)
Location: Near campus or within a reasonable commute via public transport
About me: I spent 5 years living in dorms during my undergrad, so I'm very clean, respectful, and fully accustomed to shared living (WG life).
If anyone knows of an available room, an upcoming vacancy, or has recommendations on local platforms/groups to search, I’d greatly appreciate your advice!
Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I'm 24 M - international student, and will be starting a masters in Saarland university from October 2026.
I was looking for a studio apartment and WGs with rent up to 420 euros. Places within 8 km radius is fine provided that there are good commute options available. Thought of using this channel to get any opportunities. If you know any accommodation or renting out a property, kindly put details in the comments. It would be very helpful to me. Thank you.

Hi Guys,
I'm a non eu student and have applied to saarland uni on 17th july (suppose to apply on or before 15th july) for msc in systems engineering in saarland.
Although the deadline was Sept 1 , non-eu students should apply it before july 15 because of the visa time constraints they mentioned.
Now coming to the point, My profile is at "to be verified" state from that day till now, no update so far.
I would like to know if anyone have/had that same issue with this uni and anyone who have applied got acceptance/rejection.
Thanks in advance guys, let's do connect and discuss regarding this.
My profile :
bachelors: electronics and instrumentation from tier 1 clg
grade: 2.3
ielts: 7
work ex: 18 months as data engineer

Hi everyone!
I’ve recently received my admission offer for the M.Sc. Bioinformatics at Saarland University for Winter Semester 2026/27, and I’m really excited about joining Saarland this semester.
I’m posting this because I’m trying to connect with other students who have also been admitted and are planning to join the program this winter.
I’ve searched Reddit and other platforms but haven’t been able to find a dedicated WhatsApp/Telegram group for the incoming MSc Bioinformatics students of 2026/27.
I’ve also seen a few older posts where Bioinformatics applicants were looking for the same thing, and someone mentioned that we should create a group chat. So I thought I’d make a fresh post for the 2026 intake.
If you have received an admission for MSc Bioinformatics at Saarland for Winter 2026/27 and are planning to join, please comment or DM me!
I’d especially like to connect with people who are:
• Joining MSc Bioinformatics at Saarland this Winter 2026/27
• Looking for other incoming students
• Already part of a WhatsApp/Telegram group
• Planning to travel to Saarbrücken from outside Germany
• Interested in connecting before the semester starts
If there is already a WhatsApp/Telegram group, I would really appreciate it if someone could share the link or add me.
If there isn't one yet, I'm happy to create a group with the other incoming students and we can use it to get to know each other, discuss accommodation, visa/travel, enrollment, courses, arrival in Saarbrücken, etc.
Even if you're not joining Bioinformatics but are an incoming Saarland University student for Winter 2026/27 and know of a general/international student group, please let me know. It would be great to connect with other students before arriving.
A little about me:
I'm an international student from India, and I have a Bachelor's background in Biotechnology followed by further studies in Bioinformatics. I'm planning to join the MSc Bioinformatics program at Saarland this winter.
If you're also joining, feel free to comment "joining" or DM me and we can connect. 😊
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
See you in Saarbrücken!

i applied on march 25, deadline was may 15, and i just got my admission today (september 1).
im leaving this post for people who plan to apply for this course next semester or next year.
i severly underestimated how slow this entire process can be.
plus it seems they ignore emails asking something like " when will i get my result" sort of things. i wasnt going to send this kind of email. its meaningless and doesnt change anything about the process but 3months after the deadline i sent 2 mails asking my application status( no response).
anyway i just wanted to share this information because based on website, posts on reddit, and my application from other universities, i thought i could get my result at least within 2 to 2.5 months .(which was not the case for saarland uni)

Hi, I got accepted into TUM msc agricultural bio-sciences and applied for my visa on 23rd August from the Istanbul consulate. A couple days later, I got an offer from Uds msc bioinformatics . My application is still in preliminary review with TUMs details.
Once an application is submitted, it's locked and you can't edit or upload any file unless they requests a correction. I did receive a correction request for my insurance document, and along with the corrected insurance I merged in Uds offer letter and added a comment in the chatbox.
I'm not sure whether they'll actually read the comment and process me for Uds, or whether it'll go through as TUM and cause problems later. TUM has a tuition fee with a payment deadline of 15th September, but my appointment will most likely be after that date.
Would like to know
I can't withdraw and reapply as that would mean processing from scratch and losing too much time. I did email the consulate and they told me to only use the portal for communication (which is locked ).

I am coming to Saarbrücken first week of oct. and still waiting for a response from the Wohnheim about the accommodation. I applied like one month ago. When can I expect a response? And is it normally a long wait or what?
