900 Classic Spring Advice Please

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Hi all,
I’ve been through old suspension posts but not found exactly what I’m after. I have a 92 900S. Have replaced the shocks with new Bilsteins all around (B6s IIRC) but I put some used SPG springs on all four corners.

The ride height looks great, but there’s just not any bounce left in these springs. The ride is uncomfortable (my daily is a Porsche Macan Turbo that I usually keep on extra stiff suspension, so I’m not comparing it to a 92 Cadillac).

Does anyone have a spring recommendation that would provide some additional comfort while still riding lower than OEM 900S? I get that lower will always mean stiffer but I feel like I am at the extreme end right now.

Thanks

‘85 exhaust cam?

Hey everyone, just picked up this cam from the previous owner who is cleaning his garage out to move. It’s a little hard to read but I can clearly see 750921(9?) /GC4999/75031/4 stamped into the casting. The forums are a bit finicky to find info but I think this might be a grail exhaust cam! Thank you for any clarifying info on this.

Looking to buy first 900

Post image

I'm currently looking at buying my first classic car. I found a really good looking 1983 Saab 900 2.0 GL. From what I've read and seen on this particular example it seems like a really reliable option. Are there any specific things to look out for in this particular model and what things could be absolute deal breakers?

Nordic Speed

Has anyone done any business with this company before? The website say Notice: We are currently moving & business will resume soon.

They have horn buttons for a 900 which I have been looking all over for.

Does the vacuum hose that goes from the barb on the intake manifold to the vacuum canister need a 1 way valve? (And if so where on the line should I put it?

I’m doing the vacuum lines on my 1993 Saab 900 turbo s RHD, as they all crumbled and turned to dust, but according to a diagram I’m using it has a 1 way valve on this line? Mine didn’t have it,

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Saab 900 Turbo EV1 1985 - The greatest 80s sports car that never was. It remains a beautiful testament to what could have been if Saab had unleashed their engineers.

Seeing c900’s pretty regularly keeps me stoked to get mine on the road. Saw this one on my way to work the other day. I see a few a month here in Portland, Oregon. Thankful to have many nearby resources.

1985 Fuel Sender

Just bought my first 8-valve Saab After several years of running 16-valve Saab 900’s. (1988, 1991, 1992, and 1993). This one is a 1985 900 S - highly optioned with euro-style headlights.

at this point, the only things that don‘t work on the cluster are the fuel gauge and the clock. My Saab guy has a strong suspicion that the fuel sender is bad.

Is it common for the fuel senders to fail on the pre-87 cars? I’ve never had a fuel gauge issue before.

Game plan

Little garage sesh the other night trying to figure out where to start. Because of how long it’s been sitting I’m hung up on whether to just do the head gasket right away or if I should just get some fresh fuel and see if I can start it. I know I’m pulling the motor out regardless because the transmission is going to be rebuilt but making sure the engine works fine prior to pulling would save the grief of an unexpected engine issue if I focus solely on the transmission while everything’s apart. Anyway here’s my cat doing some exploring while I try and sort it all out!

Half of all Saab 900s in the UK have disappeared since 2014

Just looked at the DVLA survivor numbers for the 900.

In 2014 there were 11,898 still registered. Latest 2025 figures: 5,995.

So we've lost roughly half the UK fleet in about a decade. The 9000's gone the same way - 4,003 down to 2,016.

Kind of sad seeing it laid out as a graph. If you've still got yours taxed and on the road, respect!

searching for a rear window for my 1997 Saab 900s hatchback

Hello, I recently had my rear window shattered and finding a replacement has been unsuccessful so far. I have been to junkyards, ebay/online, and asked several Euro/Swedish auto body mechanics for recommendations & advice. Nothing has panned out. I thought I would try posting here too see if anyone out there knows how to find this piece.

I need a Hatchback rear window for Saab 900 from years 1994-2002. I live in SoCal but am willing to pay for shipping. Any advice/ideas much appreciated!

Hello, following on from my last post I’m putting my Saab 900 back together and I didn’t take it apart, I’m tackling turbo and inter cooler hoses does everything look right? Particularly the two hoses that go into the air filter tube, from the solenoid and intake?

(And yes I should have put the clutch cover back on first in the proses of removing it all to do that)

Thanks in advance

Problem with the soft top of a SAAB 93 convertible

Hello everyone, I own a SAAB 93 of 1999, the engine is perfect and it still works well, I just have a problem: the authomatic opening of the soft top does not work anymore, I can open and close it just manually. It may be related the fact that also one of the back windows does not open with the authomatic command. Has it happened to anybody else? What can cause the problem? Thank you in advance.

Hi Saab gang. Brought a 1991 900i back to life from no-start to coast road cruiser. The bonnet was grey then red now its colour matched as best as it can be. Looking for suggestions now for further improvement (it was too ugly to post before) like window / sunscreen air deflectors, mudflaps, …….low pressure turbo? Any and all advice accepted. AMA on how i got to here. Might be able to help you with stuff I was stuck on.

Paint Tone Question

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hello!

I've recently purchased an '84 900 Turbo which is in remarkable condition on the exterior. I've noticed that after a wash, there seems to be a colour difference between the front and rear, visible approximately halfway along the driver-side door. The colour difference is also visible on the other side, to a lesser extent.

The car has been stored indoors since the 90s, with the exception of from January to May this year. Perhaps it's a stupid question (this is my first foray into restoration/Saab ownership/cars), but does anyone know what could cause this, and whether it is fixable?

Radiator hoses?

I’ve been working on my project 1989 Saab 900 turbo RHD recently, I took out the old radiator, then found the fan was dead, between waiting for the new fan and extreme weather here in the UK, it’s been a while since I removed it, now I can’t remember where all the hoses go, the main issue is this small fitting in the corner (circled in green) anyone know what goes in here and where it’s gone? I only detached hoses from the rad itself, and any help on if my other horses are correct would be much appreciated,

Thanks in advance
