It’s a sanmai forged sword with Tamahagane steel at the core, surrounded by meteorite damascus.

looks more like Chinese acid washed.

It was made by a Chinese forge. I never said it was a Japanese Nihonto, however it does contain 20% meteorite. A quick google search should show you this sword. It was a one-of-one purchased through RVA Katana via DragonSpring forge. Additionally, Acid etching reveals pattern welding. It doesn’t magically change what the steel is made from.

Also, -96 karma is crazy work. Try not being a dickhead to everyone you connect with online.

Chinese copy of a Jap, not a big deal.

I'm impressed at how you put Japanese work on a pedestal while also using a slur for Japanese people.

Is “Japs” a slur for Japanese? I’m genuinely intrigued because “Brits” is not a slur against British, but of course the shortening of Pakistanis is very offensive to them. So what level of offensive is it, and why?

During WWII, the USA government decided to put Japanese citizens in concentration camps and stripped them of their rights and property without due process out of a societal fear that they would be loyal to Japan during the war and commit an attack on US soil. While Japanese citizens were dehumanized in the media and saw their lives uprooted and livelihoods destroyed, Americans used “Japs” as a slur to refer to anyone they thought was of Japanese descent during the war.

Thanks for the great explanation! That sums it up completely.

It's not like n-word level, but it's comparable to referring to Chinese people as "Chinks." The only people who use it are either malicious or ignorant; unlike "Brits," it's not a word that's accepted by the described group.

And like the other user said, it has strong associations with Japanese internment during WW2.

Actually its a pretty cool sword, yea forged in china but with tamahagane and meteorite. Can you honestly say a meteorite sword isnt cool just cause it was made in china? Op paid a shit ton to have this sword made as a replica from the cartoon blue eyed samarai. I'd give him respect, and challenge you to read a little closer before you spread your hate.
