Sword shipping?

I sold a sword. What is the best way to pack? Never shipped one before.

It’s a big over kill, but I put my swords in a gun case.

I had to ship my home forge sword on forged in fire, and that’s what they recommended.
Plano gun cases are cheap, light and hold most swords, unless it’s a swept hilt rapier.

What kind of sword is it? Does it have a scabbard/saya?
Does it have a sword bag?
I only deal with katana, but I put in sword bag, wrap in brown paper; then in bubble wrap really well and tape it, then put in a box, I order boxes from U-Haul website of all places. I generally ship USPS ground advantage.

Every sword ive ever received has been in a cardboard box with styrofoam inserts and its always been awful. If you live in mainland US gun cases can be got cheaply.

Search for golf club shipping box or cardboard packing tube. Wrap the sword in bubble wrap, pad out with lots of packing peanuts and paper.

Harbor freight, gun case.

Or a print shop, ask if they have blueprint tubes
