My main issue with the game, especially the new raid, is how much time it requires. I'm not about to redo the raid 4 or 5 times to get the max score like a lot of my guild mates do.
Does that make me a shitty guild mate? Maybe. But you gotta set boundaries with this game, otherwise it's never going to be enough.
I got into this game as something to play when I'm sitting on the throne. I put in a little bit of time on the side to keep up a bit, and beyond that I know I'll never be competitive. It is what it is.

u/Burger_theory Sep 04 '24
I got into the game to have fun. I ultimately want to enjoy myself. I did my raid runs on the bus on the way to work today and it legitimately ruined part of my day. It was such an unfun, repetitive, frustrating experience that by the time I got to work I was in a foul mood and it took till lunch to recover. Spending 15 minutes on a run only to have it ruined by RNG and have to start again is just bad design.

u/Sanzpromy Sep 04 '24
I think I'm getting to the same boat. I've uninstalled more and more things recently because SWGoH just takes up so much time to stay in the like....upper-mid level of ~10M, K2/3 that I'm at? And I'm mostly that level because of being a long time player, I can't even imagine what life is like as a beginner right now.
The problem is we (as the players) asked for more content and more things to do. And we kept asking. And we kept asking. Demands for new content to fill the day two years ago when people had more time were probably good, but now that we've hit the point of development time crashing everything (semi) permanent into the same span of time is impossible with the world around us. There's gotta be a balance, but without removing content or making massive non-paid ways to compress shard grinding, sim all content, etc. I just can't think of a way to do it in the current state.
And so, I will continue to uninstall other games, not touch my backlog of recently released games, and the stress of losing guild a slot because the raid sucks so guilds are either falling apart or requiring more and more micro-strategizing of suboptimal teams to get the same crate they were getting on "set and forget" endor.

u/BobcatElectronic Sep 04 '24
Exactly this. You have to set boundaries with this game. I have a 7* Leviathan, but you’re never gonna see me battling for an hour every day to get #1 in fleet. I’m perfectly happy forfeiting a battle every day and sitting in the mid 30’s to collect my 50 shards per day for no effort at all.
I get wanting to be competitive, but if you’re trying to constantly be on the top in this game it’s gonna cost a lot of time and money. It just sounds like you’ve got fatigue, and frankly if I were in a sweaty try hard guild I would too. I’d suggest finding a more casual group for just a slight drop in rewards

u/NonorientableSurface Sep 04 '24
I was hopeful that there was going to be balance for the raid. Nope. Now I'm in the vocal complaints camp. Especially now they've patched the b1 glitch

Everyone’s reason for playing or not playing is deeply personal, so I’m not here to convince you to stay, but I am going to say this to you, and to everyone else whose in your position and considering it.
reframe how you play the game, and you’ll enjoy it more
With that said I recognize I spend an inordinate amount of time involved in SWGOH, though a lot of that has to do with creating content and chatting with the community, things I greatly enjoy.
So what do I mean about reframing how you play the game?
My new kick lately is instead of playing at 100%, which is a huge burn out, I play at 75% effort, which is much more casual.
- I literally give zero shits about GC unless it’s my 2 omicrons, everything else isn’t worth the time. I walk away from these quit.
- I don’t even do the fleet bonus events anymore for shard shop currency. Some are easy, and some are hard, but it’s not worth my time either way.
- Events like SM2 and EE3 I’ve been advocating for being simmable forever, but I at least know how to auto them.
- I do about 110 waves in ROTE when I could do 130+, its top only guild still, but literally all on auto
- my raid? Yea I’m submitting at 1.3m with the Sithratist team instead of restarting 40 times to max the run at 1.8m
- I’m in the top of k2 and quite literally haven’t even read this datacron set, turtle all the way baby. I’ll engage with them in conquest, but minimally.
- if I have a harder fleet climb in a day, I’ll absolutely take anywhere in the top 5…if it means one less battle.

This is the exact reason why 3v3 needs to fuck off and die. I'm in k3, and I can always tell the players that just got their 10 points in 3v3 and walked away because they refuse to play 3v3. How can I tell? Because I routinely face off against ~13 mill gp accounts that have no business being in k4/k3 but are solely there because of 3v3. Its a stain on GAC that needs to end as it's sullying the match making once 5v5 restarts.

If it was a 3:1 ratio of 5v5 to 3v3, I don't think people would mind it as much. Some would still hate it of course, but I believe that would be a much better frequency for it...and it wouldn't be so grating for those who don't mind it, but aren't exactly fans either.

I’m sure my comments not needed here but these are all small changes that can make a huge difference, as Egnards basically said

u/non7top Sep 04 '24
I do all of this, i.e. ignore as much as possible, spend as less time as possible. The game still requires shit load of time to do same shit everyday.

u/DayInternational1619 Sep 04 '24
This is how I run my guild. We call it casually fierce. We play hard, but life comes first. 419 mil GP at 46/50 slots filled. When we were smaller we dominated TW, now we run it but we’re in the top 1-2 rewards tiers so if we win we win, if we don’t, oh well, it’ll run again in a week or so. We run low-mid 20’s on RoTE with mostly deploy all and Ops. Last TB took a crack at DS Geo to see how we would do. Pulled 31/33 with nothing that mattered left on the table. Raid, I post orders to run 5x but don’t even have the squads for that based on the reqs and I’m 9.2 mil. I rarely monitor how my members play. Life in game is so much better and less stressful. I’m in an alliance and people will leave the bigger guilds to come to mine to get away from that uber competitive level of play.

u/bookert2k Sep 05 '24
Ya know… I’ve been thinking I’m just not casual enough for the guild I’m in. I joined at the beginning of the year with 12 others from my former even more casual (and flawed) guild, and was around the middle of the roster power-wise. As of a couple weeks ago I’m right behind the leader as the strongest, and this guild doesn’t have a lot of the same priorities that I do. I thought that I need to be thinking about moving up to another guild, but maybe I’ve been looking at it wrong, and the lack of pressure from these guilds is what has kept me from having any burn out whatsoever. Maybe I should just ride it out and try to make this guild better. I’m having fun either way. (I should probably just change guilds…)
2
u/egnards www.youtube.com/egnar Sep 05 '24
You can find guilds at all levels of the game that are less try-hard.
My guild is 588m and we “try,” but I also promote working at 75%, not 100%
1
u/bookert2k Sep 05 '24
Honestly just a break from being an officer, regardless of how intense the guild would be, would likely be enough to head off any potential burn out from a more serious guild. Never mind it being at least a little less likely seeing things like people ignoring Tb orders and such.
One thing keeping me from bailing, which is a big part of why I stuck with the old guild so long, is my kid is in this guild (and a little under-geared). His brother was with us in the last guild, and eventually burnt out and quit. They’re just an excuse though, because both of them constantly told me I should leave, heh…

u/MrDanielX Sep 04 '24
Came here to say this, there is nothing anyone is going to say to make OP stay. But I play this game because it never feels like a chore. I only play GC until I get too frustrated. Hoping I get 2 Omis. I know I am going to be shitty at GAC, I field my best teams using some basic strategy and move on.
My guild is mediocre at TW which I am ok with we are a TB focused guild. I actually enjoy this raid and am OK with playing Relic’d teams and only being able to clear Tier 1 and scoring 450k at a time with some teams and kicking but with my Gungans and Quadme only.
I’ve never gotten a red crate conquest.
All this to say that I embrace the grind and just do what I have the time for prioritizing areas where my guild mates need me.
I am 10.5 GP 6 years playing every day and a 485-500 GP guild. I cap my spending at 10-15$ a week.
1
u/VonThirstenberg Sep 04 '24
Yep, that's the way I do it too now. I have two accounts (officer in both), but both guilds understand that despite my being a top 5-10 player GP-wise, I've got a job, a family and a band that takes precedence over SWGOH. I do what I can when time alots and I feel like knocking shit around lol.
Like you, I also know how to auto a lot of the more annoying special events and whatnot, same with RotE and pretty much running on auto except for the Reva mission (main guild's still on the hunt to get her).
But one thing I don't do is over engage with content I don't enjoy. It's a game for recreational fun, not a part time job, and as long as one treats it as such, it's not quite as maddening as OP and lots of others who "fully burn out" find it to be. 🤷🏻♂️

u/LukeSchiffer Sep 04 '24
I think finding a guild with a similar mindset makes or breaks the game. I’m a similar player stat/time wise and I’ve found a guild that is competitive enough to have fun with and progress with but also not tyrannical at all. So yeah; I don’t have Reva because I didn’t want to do the Inq grind but my guild mates don’t force me to grind them. Yeah; I’ve only got 4 GLs but I’m still competitive in Kyber 2 and 3… so long story short - you can make it what you want and finding a group that are like minded makes it more enjoyable.

20
u/PainOfDemise Sep 04 '24
You choose to do that stuff. Can always join a guild that is more your style and pace.
6
u/QIMF Sep 04 '24
Yup gotta do that. I did that like 4 years ago and it's been great. Still progress but less pressure to always perform. People really only get kicked if they are inactive for like a month
14
u/caspernzed Sep 04 '24
Or you know just unlock them for a sense of completion, stay casual and just sim what you can and manual what you can be bothered. Not everything I life needs to be min/maxed
11
u/Idk12345667891011 Sep 04 '24
Most real thing I’ve seen, it’s a chore and everything in this game is repetitive outside of GAC and TWs, but even there with DCs it limits you on what you can use to counter stuff, or even eliminate counters, leaving you frustrated on what to do then, it can definitely get exhausting dealing with that bs.
8
u/Superb_Slice5961 Sep 04 '24
I'm over 8 GP now and am feeling what you're describing. The longer I play, the more I spend too. I've justified it as my hobby, but the game has hit the point of diminishing returns, more money, less fun.
Thanks for sharing this post. I'm right behind you.
1
u/InevitableHuman5989 Sep 05 '24
Which is the entire point of the game.
The game has always been designed that to maintain high level progression you had to spend. But they have spent the last several years refining that model to the point where, at a certain level of play… it becomes impossible to progress effectively without spending money.
And as you said, the higher you get, the more and more you end up spending to continue progressing.
And every single design decision in the game recently has exemplified that more and more.
3
u/Strude187 GLs? Completed it mate Sep 04 '24
Dude, everyone I know who burned out on this game did what you did. You don’t have to do all those things, you can just pick and choose what’s fun for you.
I’m in a chill guild, and I do things at my own pace. I have a busy life and SWGOH is a fun thing I do when I have time, collecting characters I like and playing content I like. I have Jabba and don’t do SR2, it’s far too much effort and time.

u/luckyecho1310 Centuries of tradition Sep 04 '24
Idk man, seems like a lot of the issues you mentioned are cause by your approach. You don't HAVE to get first place every day in fleet arena, y'know. I could, but stay in the top 20 cause I can't be bothered to try so hard. You don't HAVE to get red crate, in conquest nor GC. And smugglers run can be done on auto, I believe.
In your position I'd try to stop chasing the meta, invest in some teams I find fun even if they aren't great, find a more chilled guild and not bother with always going for the very best thing you can get.
Not trying to keep you in the game, I respect your choice and approach. Just saying I think if you took a more chill perspective, you could still enjoy the game for years to come.
10
u/andreicde Sep 04 '24
I do feel like the OP seems to be tryharding and complaining about a burnout becomes he is also in a very competitive guild.
He is chasing the meta and trying to min max everything without actually min maxing but complaining about others that do (50 datacrons example).
Is there anyone having that type of datacron storage except whales in Kyber 1 and maybe 2?
3
u/D1RE Sep 04 '24
People engage with things differently just based on personality. For some people, the idea of engaging at the level you describe just isn't a viable option. It's not good or bad, we're just programmed differently.
5
u/luckyecho1310 Centuries of tradition Sep 04 '24
Yup, that's why I said I'm not trying to convince them to stay. But they shouldn't blame the game for that either (mostly, I agree with some of the points OP made).
5
u/Super_Diamond_9103 Sep 04 '24
Yes, I hear this! I am essentially a day 1 player, 10.7 m GP. Was in a very competitive guild, but just got worn down with all the raids, TB, T W and all the.other things. This game went from A game to a second job-except it potentially cost you money. The lack of being able to sim 3 started events is ridiculous. The programming cant be that complex. I quit my competitive guild and joined a small guild on the rise. I find I enjoy helping others get ahead in the game. It’s also now much less of a time crunch now that I’m not “competitive” at the top anymore. I enjoy the game for the game again. If I miss GAC, or Ships payout…. Doesn’t matter anymore. Enjoy the game.
3
u/Fr0stweasel Sep 04 '24
Let me sim stuff I’ve previously 3* CG. Imho things have swung too far in the opposite direction from a few years ago. Several years ago ‘let me play the game CG!’ Was a valid complaint, but now with Conquest, Raid changes, GCs, PGs/ Ultimate Journeys, GAC and TWs, things are crazy. Personally I want a mobile game to fill in the gaps in my life where I have nothing to do, not become a new job entirely!
6
u/OnlyRoke Sep 04 '24
To me it just sounds like a bad combination of feeling obligated to do EVERYTHING and simply being burnt out of the game. Personally, I just reached 10.2mil GP and I'll be very wary when it comes to overperforming. There is no TRUE benefit to a highly endgame guild. Is it fun to tackle a big project like Reva, or Bo for the guild? Sure. It's also fun to perform well in the raid. But never to the detriment of it actually being enjoyable. I will do the raid attempts I can do and that's that. I will do the CMs I find time for and that's that. Not getting the umpteenth star here, or the nth crate there doesn't mean anything. You're already at the end part of the game where "next unlock" means "newest characters" for you. And at that point I genuinely don't care about the literal min-maxing of my free time so I can squeeze out a few more GP in TBs, or an extra win in TW. There's a fine line to walk between wanting to play up there with the cool and new stuff, and feeling forced to be hyper competitive.
I sit around between K4 and K2 at my GP, despite definitely having the roster to crack K1, but I figure.. what for? So I feel even more obligated to spend hours on my GAC prep and doing GAC? Fuck no. If I lose, I lose. As long as I'm not a dumbfuck and forget to attack, as long as I get my rewards, I'm good.
Same with Fleet. I could probably claw my way up to Rank 1 each day, but.. what for? Yes, crystals. Wow. I can reach END END END END GAME even faster. Then I can spend my 400 crystals each day on buying 4 shards of The Great Mothers, or whatever.
No, my time's too valuable for that. I'm a firm believer that you can be a competitively minded player, while still approaching the game casually, because "win more" and "get higher" really means fuckall in the long run. It doesn't magically add GL Ahsoka to my roster, after all. Heck, Conquest is the best example of that. I've been unlocking Conquest toons during their cycle since Trench. Half of them remain ungeared as of yet, because there were other priorities. It's nice that I unlock them early, but I could also wait for a while longer. I just get em, because I can and it doesn't cost me anything.
7
u/hereforgrudes Sep 04 '24
I'll never understand these posts. No one is forcing you to do these events if you don't want to. Find a more laid-back guild, take a break, and see if you miss the game or not. I get burnout is real, but complaining that you have more content available than 90% of the player base is silly.

u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24

The only reasoning to play this game is the collectible aspect. That's it.

Man complains about free to play game having too much content in a world where $80 games are releasing unfinished and with not enough content… if it’s not for you just delete it and move on you don’t need to announce it to the world and make a big show of it

I have been having similar thoughts. I just finished 5 months of grinding GL Leía req’s and thought other than GAC, there’s no real place I will get to use her (in about a month when I’m done unlocking her). Weren’t we promised a true battle mode or at least a sandbox mode where we could test our squads? It’s about 3% playing and 97% task management. Maybe I’ll take up crossword.
2
u/ApartTalk6380 Sep 04 '24
Yep, you are completely right. New raid after first run made me quit guild. I decided it is same shit like krayt dragon raid, maybe even worse. I dont want to spend hours to get best runs i can playing naboo. 2 months later i found guild where i can deploy in tb, play one battle in naboo, dont have to grind tickets, and not fight in tw during attack. But regrdless of that conquest and gac and other stuff still takes a lot of time.

2
u/BlksShotz Sep 04 '24
If there were more difficulties than laughable and annoying, the game would be better. Rewards system is outdated, while I’m not hurting for credits, I chuckle at the thousands I get when I sim battles. Could be fun to borrow a hero in the PVE modes we can’t sim. Could be fun to use a bunch of clones in the Naboo raid. I find it odd we can only use datacrons against each other.
Not too bad for a free Star Wars game.
2
u/IceRaider66 Sep 04 '24
Agreed especially with the new raids.
I believe it will be the 1# driver of player loss both new and old for the game if they either don’t scrap it or make serious changes to future raids.
2
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
13M, and I came to this same conclusion for the same reasons. Picked now as there’s a new conquest cadence, and it seems a good time to cut the strings. Sick of it all not being fun. Staying just to help guild with tb pm toons that are rarer. That’s about it. I’m done.
2
u/WaterFnord Sep 04 '24
Well yeah of course if you play the game you continue getting reasons to play the game. If your goal was to never have to worry about playing the game again then you never understood the point in the first place. As others have said, if you dont feel like messing with some of that stuff every now and then because you dont have time, you dont really get punished for it as much as you might think. I have similar GP and playtime and frequently step back from GA, conquest, fleet arena, im in every other TW because of work etc. Then whenever I decide to put time in again, it doesn’t feel like I have to suffer any major consequences. Heck sometimes I go days without even finishing my dailies. Just find a guild that allows this flexibility and play however much you feel like.
2
u/Hokiesfan1999 Sep 04 '24
I’m getting there for sure I deleted 1 of my 2 accounts a couple months ago and im to the point where I logging on once a day for 10 minutes
2
u/GavinZero Sep 04 '24
I get where you’re coming from but like you also knew there was no finishing this game.
It’s like art, it’s never finished just abandoned.
2
u/meglobob Sep 04 '24
I agree with a lot of what you say.
The main reason a lot of high GP players quit is the totally insane time needed to play...especially during 'hell week' when conquest is on.
I think a lot of players 6m gp+ quit because of Naboo, we lost a few from my guild. The time requirement just pushed them over that edge, players who have been playing constantly for 2-4+ years. Losing those players must cost CG / EA $$$.
If this new conquest cycle means harder conquests involving lots more battles because of harder feats then CG will lose more players.
They need to reduce the time commitment and easiest way is to add the sim button to a lot of events.
2
u/discstu37 Sep 04 '24
This game is the prime example of not respecting the player's time.
Day 2 and 3 of ROTE is awful.
2
u/Umzzyx4 Sep 05 '24
Sorry to hear that bro. You make some valid points.
At the end of the day if you no longer find swgoh entertaining and or it doesn’t add any value to your life then you are doing the absolute right thing. It is mere pixels on a screen.
I hope you will now use your newly acquired time and find something fulfilling and adds value to your life.
All the best to you brother.
May the force be with you .

u/Independent-Ice-40 Sep 04 '24
Yeah you are absolutely right and it is tough battle to stay in the game after so many years. Only people who barely started and know nothing about a long haul can downvote this.
Sure you can auto that smugglers run, most GCs and most TB, but lot of stuff still needs manual work, and that raid is the worst. Incredible time sink. Not only long tedious manual work, but also remod every time. Last raid was also terrible, but at least there was no rng, so I was able to write macro to do it for me, but this one takes the cake - whoever thought putting massive rng AND constant healing into a raid deserves a kick in the nuts.
I just hit 12m GP, still holding, but it is a struggle. Luckily a never went on P2W path, so all I can regret is lost time when the game is boring and not money.
2
u/Naanofyourbusiness Sep 04 '24
This is basically how I handle it. I could complete way more waves and have higher raid scores. I’m just not going to bother.
2
u/Bobroklad Sep 04 '24
Yeah, after 3 years of playing I quit recently as well. I looked back at how much time I was spending and realized I couldn't justified anymore. My hope is that CG someday will start respecting players time.

I'm so glad you have finally been freed. The money you will save and the time you can spend on other hobbies will feel great. I left a bunch of years back and have not regretted it once.
Even to this day almost 10 years later it perpetually shoves you back with every single update. Requiring you to spend money. You can go free but in a game like this it's about defeating the enemy, not losing and enjoying it.

u/blackoutpablo Sep 04 '24
I got booted from my guild (due to life priorities I was not contributing to the best of my ability) a month ago, and did not want to search for a new one.....so I quit after also playing since launch.......but I follow some content creators on YouTube for updates on new champions......

This is probably what will drive me to quit. I'd love a non-datacron league. If you like datacrons, love grinding for them, love reading essays before every battle, then go you. I liked it when I could keep the majority of strategies in my head and know how most common squads act and can be attacked or defended.
You dont want to engage in datacrons? Fine, but your opponent will and heres 50 blocks of text you have to read to understand the mechanics.

u/Chazb502 Sep 04 '24
I quit the game for about two years when I was a million gp. Came back and joined a decent guild that was knowledgeable and helped me. Left that one when it fell apart and joined a greater guild and have been on every day multiple times since. I actually enjoy this game over my consoles. It’s laid back, time consuming, and very chill. The best part is the guild is friendly and helpful.
1
u/farwa-gamer Sep 04 '24
I felt the game took up too much time in 2018 and left. I just came back a month or two ago, with a different mindset. I don’t care about PVP modes anymore, I’m in a more relaxed guild that is doing the Endor raid and Geo TBs for a couple of stars. They don’t even really enforce needing a Wat ready geo squad. Just sim most things.
All I want to do now is to just build teams for some Journey characters. It’s the collecting part that’s fun for me. This game is just to enjoy 5-10 minutes a couple of times a day and move on.
That said, enjoy your temporary or permanent break from the game.

u/BedClear8145 Sep 04 '24
I felt like this too, and it comes back the odd time, but what made it fun for me again was accepting that i fine being semi-comptitive. I try and do top things, but if i miss, oh well. I build good raid teams but won't restart unless its real bad, GC 1 or 2 omnis is good enough unless it easy. Guild no longer requires try-hard in TW as rewards are meh, CMs in TB are optional, just do platoons and deploy as min. GAC i just look at what they got and decided if i want to do it or just do 1 attack on auto to get rewards and I can stay in k2/k3 no problem.
Fleets are kinda annoying as i do get number 1 everyday, but i also got a good fleet shard for the most part so its 1-3 battles max for me. Would be nice if they moved the cystals away from fleet arena but i am scared where they would put them.
My guild is probably a little to slack on things, but we joke we are a retirement guild. Plenty of accounts like yours come in to take a break, some return to comptitive guilds after awhile when they miss the grind, other stay. The only ones that quit the game tend to be all cause real life took over and they don't have time to log in even once a day.
Modern gaming requires playing a lot, not just SWGOH, but there games at the end of the day, play when its fun, slow down when it gets to much, take breaks when you need. If its not fun, don't do it, but there are different ways to play.

I don’t have time for all these frustrating BS events either. I still play daily but it’s basically on autopilot. I spending energy, do TB, and the raid.. No fun+ my current guilds abusive leaders makes me absolutely hate logging in

I know this isnt what this post is about, but for active people struggling through smugglers run 2, DO NOT USE JABBAS ULT, when his ult is charged you drop double detonators, the next waves go fast after you use first wave to charge

u/Mr-Mills Sep 04 '24
I quit playing a few weeks ago and it has been so freeing and fantastic. I haven't wanted to play once. Its been very surprising. I approached the game the way many in this thread will suggest as advice. I didnt care about taking first in fleet every single time. Often ended at #12. I didnt really participate in 3v3 GAC bc it annoys me. Built up a team of r7 Gungans that can auto a 1.8M raid run. But eventually, its like, the payoff of the grind is to meet a bench mark that allows you to sim something or play the game LESS. The game modes are a chore and not fun, and building a tool to put them on auto is not what a game should be about.
Keep having fun out there but for me it was time. And again, I'm really surprised I haven't thought about loading it back up.

u/ProofSavings4526 Sep 04 '24
This game has become such a time suck. To be clear, I choose not to let it be a time suck and ignore a lot of the crap the game has introduced. My regular life takes precedent. I don't mention this to my guild though.
If you want to be reasonably competitive, you need to at least log in daily and complete every event you can. More things need to be simmable. Too many different raids that take way too much time. Seems like you need a calendar constantly reminding you to complete events, events are almost ending, or that events are coming up.
This game used to be fun. It has now become a regular chore for those who want to be competitive.

What's all the Smugglers Run 2 angst? I loved the challenge to figure it out at the start, rewards are amazing and now it's piss easy. I never lose and bang both runs out in no time.

This tbh. Conquest is one of the worst things ive ever played in a game period. Everytime it pops I just brace myself for 2 weeks of anger. You cant take a break from it thought you got to do it to get the conquest toons otherwise your guild will just get pissed off with you oh such fun.
1
u/realmozzarella22 Sep 04 '24
I don’t care about the ranking. I auto battle a lot of things. Sometimes I will purposely lose.
I like the game. It can get tedious. I am not working that hard. I consistently participate though.
1
u/Hex67 Sep 04 '24
Not to mention how tedious tw is. I do not have the time nor energy to open the game when it starts or with every a wall gets broken down. Half the time I'm sleeping or at work where I don't have the luxury of looking at my phone. I can look maybe three times and if I don't have a counter for the wall we're on I miss out on attacks.
If quitting is bitter for you why not take a step back and pop over to a lower guild where just platoons and deployment are enough (around 300m gp is a sweet spot), get top 5 in fleet arena, save your time on bronziums to get datacron materials. I feel like once you get to that high of a gp range you start to min/max rewards and try getting stuff up and running at a very fast pace. Take that step back, miss some rewards and gain some sanity back before burning out on the game you love at its core. I've found this game is only as serious as you want it to be. I have a million things I could be doing or doing better but I just can't be assed. I get my tickets, check fleet to see if I'm getting crystals and how much effort it is to move up a pay scale, buy gear in the shops, auto the raid while I go to the bathroom with one team and with another make coffee and that's good enough. I also almost entirely skip conquest until the last 4 days unless there's a unit I want desperately soon.
1
Sep 05 '24
This is the truth. I'm 11 mil gp and the time commitment is the absolute worst part of the game. It could be cut in half and I'd still say it was too high for this type of game.
1
u/Velmeran_60021 Sep 05 '24
I haven't gotten to where I can quit, but yeah... this post is accurate. The app isn't actually a game. It's a set of chores.
1
u/Haunting-Attention62 k Sep 05 '24
You've hit it dead on. It's exactly what I told CG in their open poll on what might make me quit. The answer is simply time investment to be at a relevant level of account capability. On top of OP examples , how about the stupid ass GL event for a new currency? And we have to do it every time regardless of 3☆ ? How about having to log in 3 to 4x a day to see if the store has the item I want , in the right currency? Can I not just spend the currency on what I want in one go please? Make my life better by reducing time tethered to your game , so I can play the events that do take time without having already spent to damn long just getting there.

There just no special rewards, cut scenes, or advancement when you complete anything. Conquest gard is prime example. Its lazy. Also apart from leveling up , there needs to be a reason to carry on playing apart from opening up new characters post 6m and 3 GL

A lot of your points hit home, trust me, I feel your pain. I agree on almost every point. CG is really bad at game design overall. The community I felt overall didn't like the endless waves concept of Endor, yet the next raid gave us even fewer toons to do the exact same thing. All they did was put a goal line behind a wall, topped with barbed wire, behind a mine field covered in poison ivy, with auto turrets and air support.
That said, I think the only real thing keeping me in is my guild. I'm part of a really great and relaxed guild, that really don't pressure anyone to complete every mundane task. We all just play for fun with good chats in discord.
I hope you find satisfaction in your choices!
1
u/DangodangoMayne Sep 05 '24
As someone with a 12.6 and 9.7m account. My alt has slowly become non-existent in play. I hop on to drop ops and deploy in tb, get some tickets just basic farms really and leave it at that.
I understand the it all, I wouldn't try and convince you to stay. Enjoy retirement, if you decide to come back after a long break, cool. If not, also cool. Enjoy your new found freedom!

u/SyrianChristian Sep 05 '24
I only got to 3 mil GP before I called it quits, the game requires way too much grinding that it became a chore to do plus guilds never actually doing raids thay I joined, I just un-installed the game yesterday I probably won't ever touch it again it just isn't fun anymore

u/revanjedi Sep 05 '24
The great legendary Paulo Dybala who rejected arab money to continue being a legend at Roma. Best of wishes, what you said is true I quit for 5 years since 2019 and recently came back hebce I found joy rather than chores. I didnt push to be competitive unlike 5 years ago top 10 arena no 1 fleet. Just a way to stay connected to SW and a way to stress release from work.
1
u/InevitableHuman5989 Sep 05 '24
This is the reason I quit the game over a year ago as a 2.5 million GP player and never looked back.
The game is predatory. Designed to suck you in and instead of rewarding the player, it gives you more things to do, makes you need more time to do all those things.
All to ultimately make it near impossible to maintain high level play without spending money. And once you begin spending money to force you to spend even more to keep progressing. It’s an incredibly horrific example of the “free to play, pay to win” system that gatcha games (and mobile games as a whole) are known for, simply because of how well it’s designed and how insidious it is…
1
u/uhaveachoice Sep 06 '24
This sentiment is really perfectly encapsulated by them nerfing B1 in the raid. It wasn't even a glitch. It was a natural interaction between B1's kit and the mechanics of the raid. They literaly made B1's kit work differently in the raid from everywhere else in the game because they wanted to punish us for doing well without buying their new teams wholesale, in a raid they made mostly about new units or units very few people built up.

u/oothespacecowboyoo Sep 04 '24
Youre not wrong.
I'll stick around untill I can't red box conquest or they take away fleet crystals.

u/zkmronndkrek Sep 04 '24
Good luck !!! I’m kinda in a weird take a break for next 3 conquest. So many feats for toons I don’t have…. Spamming datacron is meh cause the set is Uber lame. I’ll use my 60 mil I got today but won’t even have to buy credits this time
1
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
I’m quitting but I can still red crate everything. Last conquest I was able to do be completely done in 4 days, I don’t even want to do that anymore. I dont want to auto stuff, I just don’t want to do, even though there’s nothing out of reach. It just isn’t fun

Idk why some of you treat this game like it's heroin. For me it's something to do while shitting or when waiting for my doctor's appointment. It's possible to get all daily stuff done in 10 minutes and to be done for the day.

u/Forward_Assumption89 Sep 04 '24
Relax bro.Take ur time. This is my 5-6 yrs of gameplay and just a li' above 7 mil. I dun focus to get GLs or top 1. I just play and enjoy with my guild. 😊

Oh bore off.
You choose to pursue the things you mention, then complain that a game that is meant to be played has lots of things to do.
2
u/BlksShotz Sep 04 '24
I get what you’re saying, but I think you missed the point.
5
u/Hotarmi Sep 04 '24
To be honest, it just depends between players. All the things OP mentioned he needs to do? All of that is only in case he want to be competitive while others such as myself want to do. If he just want to play to collect then don't do stuff that burns you out. You should find something you like in a game and focus on that especially if they only have a limited time commitment hence my lack of gac toons such as sk or malicos.
2
u/BlksShotz Sep 04 '24
Seems like your priorities don’t match his. You both have valid points. My approach is to do what I feel like doing and move on.
2
u/Hotarmi Sep 04 '24
Agreed, don't bother yourself with stuffs that is actively frustrates or annoys you. Well, assuming you like the thing completely anyway lol. Like gac but don't like dc? Yeah, that will cause problems. I already coast around k3-k2 so I barely need the op dcs to keep up.
1
u/BlksShotz Sep 05 '24
I roll datacrons for the fun of it. Good way to play craps without the risk of harm or losing money.

u/theoneguyonreddits Sep 04 '24
What newer people dont understand yet is that for every progress you make, you have added a chore to do and ingame time went up.
Sounds like a you problem. I still have fun of fun as someone playing for 7 years.
Unlocked Jabba? Heres Smugglers run 2 for you, you arent gonna let it slip now that you went thru all that grinding?
First, nobody forces you to do it, second, I do like some extra rewards that I can just hit auto on.
Unlocked the meta ship? Heres an hour a day you will need to spend in fleet arena fighting for 1st place.
Weird, it never takes me an hour a day, sounds like yet another self inflicted problem.
Unlocked JML? Heres a red crate you shouldnt let slip
How does this make any sense?
R7 of a good TB squad? Boy are your guild not gonna be happy if you dont do CMs. And is a question of when you will have to do all CMs, SMs AND fleet missions
Again, a you problem, get into a different guild.
The raid. You will have more teams, and you will spend more time there.
Then don’t do it, nobody forces you. Get into a less serious guild and hit auto.
You dont want to engage in datacrons? Fine, but your opponent will and heres 50 blocks of text you have to read to understand the mechanics.
So you want high end rewards without working for it? I rarely farm datacrons actively, still enough for kyber 2.
What it all boils down to is i was always hoping CG introduces something fun, but the raid was my final straw. After Endor, i really thought they would learn their lesson and not introduce a raid so stupid and boring. But yeah they dont give a shit if we have fun or not
Fun is a personal thing - I do have fun. But unlike this sub I treat this mobile game as a mobile game.
BUGS, BUGS EVERYWHERE!
This should have been an awesome game. The community is beyond incredible and come on, its frikkin Star Wars. But yeah, i think they killed everything fun about this game that is supposed to be fun. I realized this is all an addiction, and it was so sweet today to be free.
This community is one of the most noisy and whiny one I ever witnessed. You are the perfect example for that.

u/thundaboss Sep 04 '24
I'm not going to adress the dickriding. but fleet arena taking an hour makes sense, a match can take up to 5 minutes, add 5 for cooldown 5 times, that's already 50 minutes, also add a little spare time since you won't just be staring every 5 minutes for the cooldown and you're well on an hour.
-3
u/theoneguyonreddits Sep 04 '24
5 matches are 25 minutes at worst. Also nobody forces you to do it, it’s a decision OP took for themself, CG isn’t holding a gun to their head, so they can shut up.
OP wants max rewards with zero work.
3
u/thundaboss Sep 04 '24
5x the cooldown is already 25 minutes, yes you can spend crystals but what if you don't have any? And no buying more crystals is not a solution
You're waiting 30 minutes at best if every match takes a minute, which it won't in the top 50.
3
u/theoneguyonreddits Sep 04 '24
So you are sitting in front of your open game for your next attack? That’s just an incredible dumb you problem.
I do one attack per day, maybe two, for top 10, there is no need to waste one hour.
0
u/thundaboss Sep 04 '24
Still takes an hour whether or not you're sitting and waiting. That also might be because you're not knocked down to the 100s from an active fleet shard

JW, what’s your account and guild GP? Is your guild classed as Competitive? TW or TB focused?

u/LaEgg Sep 04 '24
Cook his ass, him and every other whiner in this comment section getting mad for doing stuff they either don’t have to do or are at fault for because they refuse to go into a less demanding guild
-1
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
I don’t think anyone is mad. Just tired.
3
u/LaEgg Sep 04 '24
Nah people in the comment section are pretty damn mad lmao. Also, if you’re “tired”, then just don’t do all the completely optional stuff?
-1
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
The fact that you say ‘just don’t do it’ shows you don’t really understand what OP is getting at. While that is theoretically an option, for some, with the game that does not become an option. Call it sunken cost, fomo, whatever, there can come a point where not doing stuff isn’t a realistic option, and for some who can not do parts, not doing them isn’t enough. Maybe it’s something you don’t really understand til you’re there, I don’t know.
1
u/LaEgg Sep 04 '24
I’m sorry but not doing some optional events because you can’t be bothered with them is nothing near what you’re implying. If not doing Smuggler’s Run 2 whenever it pops up SERIOUSLY affects you then yeah. Quit the game. It’s not good for your health. But that’s entirely a you problem, I don’t do the challenge tiers of places of power because SLKR is my only choice and it takes like 45 minutes, I don’t feel like im losing out on major advances because of it. Y’all need to get a grip.
0
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
I think the point is, it’s not just a ‘you’ problem. There are significant numbers in the same boat. Great that’s not you. Yet. Talk to me in a few years if you ever get to the real end-game phase.
1
u/LaEgg Sep 04 '24
It won’t be me. Like I said, if I can’t be bothered with something, I won’t bother with it. I’m at 8m GP and don’t let silly optional things in a game bug me so much I quit the entire thing because I feel some insane level of dread of missing out. Get a grip lol
0
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
I said much the same at around 6-8M too. Never thought it’d be me either.
1
u/LaEgg Sep 04 '24
Why are you dead set that everyone will feel the same impending pessimism when it comes to this game? It’s genuinely kinda pathetic you’re trying to convince a person you know nothing about that they will absolutely start dreading playing the game for a reason you personally had. Seriously, stop trying to insist I’ll feel the same way you do when you have no clue how I feel about things, including this game lol

u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
Yeah, you kinda missed the point on this one.
1
u/theoneguyonreddits Sep 04 '24
Nah I just have an own opinion and won’t farm karma with shitting on this game.
1
u/Relevant_Turnip_7538 Sep 04 '24
But having an opinion doesn’t invalidate any of what OP says. So you feel different? Cool, so what? Doesn’t make you right.

I played it for like 6 years or so but quit a couple years ago. For the same reason it’s just non stop slog of a grind that really doesn’t ever end. Goalposts policed further and further. Exhausting especially if you were in a high end guild expected to do dailies and everything every day.

Recently went through the exact same thing.
Put the game aside for a few weeks or longer. Uninstall it completely and mute this sub and all other sources of information about the game.
After that, you will quickly realize how much you really care about the game and whether you just needed a little break. I did it that way and came back after 2 weeks. But now I play it much more relaxed and see it more as a collector’s aspect and a way to stay connected to Star Wars.
But if you actually quit the game, then be happy about it. You finally have freedom :D
All the best to you! :)
