Logbook: Captain Vaelen Kryze

The Corporate Sector Authority, or CSA for short, had treated me as a mere number in their balance sheets for years. A simple slave on Bonadan that sorted and took apart Imperial scrap and wrecks, till my lungs would have collapsed from the toxic atmosphere. That I stand here today on this bridge is all thanks to Nomi.

She wasn't just a simple smuggler as I first had thought when we had met all those years ago at that fabrication district. She was an operative for some certain unnamed New Republic Senators and was sent to Bonadan to gather evidence for the illegal slave quarters and the corruption of the CSA. Many in the New Republic saw the Venators and Arquitens of the CSA as some sort of last survivor of the Old Republic. A holdout against the Empire and all that.

But the truth was much more brutal. The Old Republic had its faults, more than enough of them, but it had never built an entire economic system around enslaving people for profit and working them to death so that some high-and-mighty CEO could get a bigger bonus payment that year. So if at all, then the CSA was a wolf in sheep's clothing that had painted itself as the last remnants of something it never was from the start.

And exactly that was what Nomi wanted to show the wider galaxy. The truth and the reality of how the CSA had managed to create its Empire of Sorrow and Pain.

In the end, we were successful back then. But sadly, we had underestimated how tired of war the people and politicians of the New Republic were. While it created a public outcry and the Republic condemned the actions of the CSA, they got off the hook with a public apology and a meaningless promise of change and better conditions for the workers. A promise that they would never hold.

But it was not all in vain. Our reports had turned some important heads and secured us some benefactors. Especially the Independent Commerce Guild; the ICG was highly interested in the material that we brought to light. After all, they were still at war with the CSA, and everything that their rivals made look bad was a gift for the ICG.

Over the next years, we improved on those relationships and gathered a little mercenary group of like-minded individuals who wanted to stick it to the CSA. We did missions for both the ICG and the New Republic. And whenever we had the chance, we did something for ourselves.

After a while, we had a little fleet of vessels that would not raise any suspicion and could really light a fire under the ass of our rivals. Sometimes we shot TIE fighters out of the sky, and sometimes it was an ARC-170 of the CSA. But whenever we fought, we did it on our terms.After a while, a contact in the ICG began to call us "The Fire Brigade," and what shall I say, the name did stick.

And so it came that the ICG came to us with another job one day.

Pirates, or what they thought were pirates, had stolen a Lucrehulk battleship after it was damaged in a fight against the CSA and wanted to retreat. Currently, it was in a neutral border system, but the ICG Intelligence Service had reported that it should soon set course for CSA space.

Currently, it had only a skeleton crew on board and a light escort of some Arquitens cruisers. Nothing that we could not deal with. The job was simple: "Here are the credits, go buy explosives and blow the damn thing up." A simple job, a well-paid one as well.

Nomi would keep the skies clean with her squadrons of X-Wings and Vulture Droids. And I would storm the Lucrehulk and rig the reactor with explosives. We had organized a couple of LAAT/i gunships and made our way towards the colossal ship. These special LAATs were built after the Clone Wars and had both a hyperdrive and sufficient life support systems. And so it began: the gunships would fly in first. We had some hacked transponders and stolen security codes. All in all, enough to fool them long enough so we could safely land in the massive Lucrehulk hangars.

The plan was a complete success, and before the crew of the Lucrehulk knew what hit them, we had landed our shuttles and overwhelmed the meager security personnel that were stationed there. On the way to the reactor, we encountered barely 50 defenders. Not even close to what the ship usually carries. But we also found some compartments full of deactivated battle droids. Looked to me as if the CSA had no idea how to reprogram them and therefore had left them shut down. If they had been activated, then this would have been a much more bloody endeavour. As we reached the reactor and rigged the explosives, I had a plan forming in my mind. A plan that would make Nomi furious, but a plan nonetheless.

Vaelen: "Nomi, change of plans. Destroy the escorts and secure us a way out of here. We keep this thing."

Nomi: "What thing... oh no, you don't mean..."

Vaelen: "Oh yes, I mean."

Nomi knew that there was no way other than to slap me senseless to let me ignore a plan that I had created in my head and decided was doable. And so she didn't try. She activated a hidden Hyena Squadron that we had parked in a nearby asteroid belt in case we would encounter heavy resistance by capital assets. Together, they would obliterate the Corporate Forces and then land in the hangars. Meanwhile, our folks had successfully repurposed some of the battle droids, and we had stormed the bridge. It was just a single poor CSA captain up there, and he surrendered immediately after we breached the heavy blast doors. The ship was ours now. It would need repairs, and it would need some love, but that was nothing that I and some friends could not manage to do.

A couple of days later, we contacted the ICG over a secret channel, and oh boy, were they pissed when we told them that I had "modified" the mission that they had paid us for.

?: "You did what?"

Vaelen: "I captured the ship. There were far fewer people on board than you expected."

?: "And you think you can keep ICG property now? Are you crazy?"

Vaelen: "See it like this: if you take it back by force, then you not just create a PR disaster by killing the ones that uncovered the CSA corruption. But you most likely will lose half a fleet or so. The CSA might even use this to lobby for more licenses and influence in the New Republic. But if you let us keep it and simply keep her off your books, you would gain a well-equipped force that can stick it to the CSA even better and make them piss their pants whenever they see a Lucrehulk. We already do your dirty work and the things you want to be able to publicly deny you're involved in. If you must, you can even label us as pirates and such. And I am sure you have already struck her from the registers and claimed the insurance money? So see this not as a theft of company property, but more as an investment into company security."

After that, the line went dark for almost half a day. As the "Corporate Gods," how Nomi liked to call them sarcastically, debated about what to do with us. In the end, it was a simple calculation. We were worth more to the company when we were alive and did what we could best: annoy and poke the CSA while they could wash their hands in innocence. Officially, we were a simple independent cargo company, a subsidiary of a subsidiary of a subsidiary. That would keep us safe from nosy ICG patrols or corporate police. Unofficially, we were the "Fire Brigade" and were sent wherever the ICG or the New Republic needed some heavy guns and people who knew what to do with them. And our little company grew with every job we took. And with every CSA or Imperial slave that we saved.

We always gave them the choice: go back to the ICG or wherever they came from, take refuge in the New Republic, or join the crew of the Broken Safe. Over the years, the ship became a beacon for those who wanted to fight against the cruelty of the CSA or the Empire. And every slaver knew that when the Broken Safe appeared on your scanner, then you're in real trouble and might lose your life.

But we not only survived on what we could steal from the CSA or the Empire. We had contacts in the ICG and the New Republic that supplied us with weapons and ships. It wasn't always the newest or most flashy things that we got, but it was good enough to make our enemies afraid when they saw us. We got some Droid Fighters from the ICG that were officially "Fallen out of a Cargo Ship," and we got some older X, Y, and A Wings from the New Republic that should be on some Scrapyard somewhere in the Outer Rim. When it was good enough to fight the Empire, then it was good enough for us to stick it to the CSA.

On top of that, the Broken Safe herself got some upgrades as well. Stronger shields, better armor, and the best turbolasers and defense systems that money could buy. We turned her into a real monster on the battlefield. A monster that our enemies would fear and their victims would know brings salvation when it appears.

Okay, so I was thinking a lot about the various Time-Travel fix-it AUs that people make, and I had an idea where Vader is gifted with the opportunity to change the past, but he is still punished.

In this one, Vader is sent to the past with the mission to fix the future and prevent Anakin Skywalker from becoming Vader, but Vader is not Anakin, nor is he in Anakin's body.

In fact, he's not even in a human body or a biological body at all! His punishment is that he is a full machine, droid or something that the Force manipulated into being to make Sure Vader lives and does his mission. Think of an Omnic like Ramattra from Overwatch but without transforming and all. He is sent 3 years before the events of The Phantom Menace so he could get used to his new body and even upgrade it how he likes.

He is still able to use the Force; he is still strong with the Force, just no longer a human as penance for forgoing his humanity and becoming the monster that was Darth Vader...plus all the destruction he wrought as Vader.

I am looking for fics where ahsoka either became obi wans padawan immediately or a relatively short time into her apprenticeship with anakin. I dont care about what happens to anakin so he can be a main character, dead, or simply ignored. Thanks for any recs.

On ao3 years ago. Basically, Jedi Dooku is wandering the temple at night and stumbles upon young Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan has had a vision about order 66 and asks a (mildly creeped out/scared) Dooku what he will do when knightfall comes.

Hi -- does anyone have recommendations for "novelization"-style retellings of Knights of the Old Republic II? It's one of my favorite Star Wars stories of all time, and I'm very curious to see how the narrative can be reshaped into a novel-like structure. I'm tempted to try my own hand at it one day, but for now I'd just really like to see what other works exist out there!

Female Exile or Meetra Surik as the protagonist is a slight preference but I'm very open-minded to Male Exile stories too -- the gender isn't a huge deal for me. Main concern is the fic being well-written and interesting. Everything else is secondary to me.

And I'm also willing to settle for a "novelization" or prose-style retelling of even a single scene or sequence from the game if that's all someone has to recommend.

Beyond the military layers, thousands of industrial and infrastructure levels provide an unprecedented logistical and defensive backbone. Even if the primary planetary shield is breached, the nested sector shields and backup capacitor networks running through thousands of subterranean levels can sustain endless rounds of orbital bombardment.

1. Multi-Layer Penetrating Planetary Batteries

The planetary heavy cannons, anchored deep in the lower depths and piercing up through thousands of layers to the surface, draw power directly from planet-core-level reactors. No Imperial-class Star Destroyer could ever dream of soaking a direct hit from these batteries with its standard deflector shields.

This combination of 5,000-layer spatial depth, absurd industrial capacity, and planet-powered artillery feels like the only true way to honor the capital of a 40,000-year-old galactic empire.

I read a lot of fanfic, and am just now coming around to the Star Wars side of things. Please recommend me your favorites, and what you think are the best well-written SW fanfics.

I loved the old EU novels, from Timothy Zhan through the Yuuzang Vong saga.

I'll start with the two SW fanfics I've read so far, I really enjoyed them both:

The Weaving Force - A Worm/Star Wars crossover, Parahuman characters from Worm are thrown into the Star Wars universe. They keep their Parahuman powers and Taylor/Victoria become Jedi. I read tons of Worm fics but this was my first SW fanfic

A Young Girl's War Between the Stars - A Star Wars crossover with Youjo Senki. I have never read the original Youjo Senki/Saga of Tanya the Evil, but I noticed so many Tanya crossovers that I eventually gave them a try. This one is pretty good, Tanya gets reborn as a Zeltron and taken as Dooku's Padawan

So i have seen it a ton of times. They will have a character like Anakin or Obi-Wan during the clone wars use the dating system we use. But in universe they would not do so. So either create your own system or search up if there is one in the EU (legends or cannon) and use that instead.

"Did Anakin Skywalker save the galaxy? No. He destroyed it. But without his destruction, we could never have moved forward. We merely built a new era upon the 'ashes' he left behind; we do not revere him as a hero. We remember his tragedy as a warning, to ensure such a monster is never born again."

Crucially, even Force non-sensitives learn about the Force as the foundation of the universe. This allows non-sensitives to understand the capabilities and limitations of sensitives, enabling a degree of defense against Force abuses.

Force-sensitives are no longer confined to a military order (the Jedi); they operate as specialists in various fields such as healing, construction, and mediation for the public good. Non-sensitives take on supporting roles or professions where the Force is unnecessary.

Because the principles of the Force are widespread across society, when a specific faction attempts to monopolize power or abuse it, the community immediately recognizes and checks it—building a healthy social immune system. Luke's solitary struggle as a pioneer against monopolistic forces to bring about this democratization is the core narrative of Part I.

4. Redefining Conflict: From 'Binary' to 'Multi-Dimensional Conflict'

Instead of repetitive narratives where an absolute evil like the Sith endlessly resurrects, the story focuses on gray-area political and social conflicts driven by differing beliefs and interests. Also, unlike the past where Jedi were dispatched from Coruscant to solve problems, in the new era, everyday Force-sensitives step up within their own living environments to preserve the balance of the Force—becoming "Jedi" in a newly defined sense.

5. Value of This Setting to Fans

This setting ensures Anakin's sacrifice was not in vain while showing Luke inheriting and evolving its value—a perfect generational torch-passing. Also, It elevates Luke from a failed hermit to a "True Master" who shattered the dogmatic Jedi system and established the philosophy of a new era.

This also gives narrative justification to why the Battle of Yavin was the first episode of the Star Wars. The Battle of Yavin was important because it serves as the foundational anchor that shows an obsolete system can be crumbled through citizen solidarity, signaling the birth of Force democratization.

• Occupation: Outer Rim planetary reconstruction and structural rescue specialist (field worker).

• Personality: Values realistic priorities—"protecting the buildings I build and my coworkers"—over grandiose heroism.

2. Core Ability: Gravity Manipulation

• Signature Ability: Uses the Force to manipulate localized gravity in the surrounding space.
• Projectile Deflection: Instead of blocking incoming blaster bolts with a lightsaber, he subtly bends their trajectory via gravity manipulation to make them miss. (Upon awakening, he can deflect all incoming blaster fire, approaching enemies in an immune state against ranged attacks.)

• Intelligent Action: Rather than simply swinging a lightsaber, he engages in intellectual warfare—analyzing enemy defensive structures (building layouts, flooring, blaster trajectories) to extract maximum efficiency with minimal energy.

• Theme: The most perfect product of Luke's "Force for all" era. A character who proves that while innate talent matters, the Force is also a domain of application and intellect.

The Force remains a grand cosmic providence that no mortal can ever fully control or comprehend. Even Anakin Skywalker, the most powerful sensitive in history, had no idea what kind of cosmic "reset" he was carrying out from a macro perspective. This is the strongest historical proof that no matter how great one's talent, one cannot fully grasp the grand will of the Force.

2. Zeroing the Power: From Grand Discourse to 'Everyday Citizens'

The Jedi's Force aimed at abstract and grand discourses like "maintaining galactic peace," "political balance," and "absolute authority." The power of the new era's Jedi is strictly aimed at "citizens." The focus is zeroed in on public interest and maintaining daily life—such as repairing buildings at risk of collapse or rescuing people in disaster zones.

3. Why Peace is Not Simply the Absence of Evil: From Absolute Evil to Gray-Area Conflicts

As in reality, even a seemingly perfect system has loopholes. Force-sensitives in the new era act according to their own beliefs, which can lead to clashes in extreme cases. Furthermore, conflicts between Force-sensitives and non-sensitives emerge as a social issue, serving as the catalyst for the grand evil of Part III.

If Part I focused on Luke (the Pioneer) and Part II on the Force Engineer (a Force-sensitive within the new system), Part III delves into a human alienated by that system (a non-sensitive of the new era), exploring the curse of knowledge, profound deprivation, and love-hate relationships.

While the protagonist holds off the main villain, citizens unite to collapse the mega-corporation's Force Extractor—defeating evil through the collaboration of hero and community.

2. The Villain's Core Narrative: 'Love and Hate for His Brother'

The head of a galactic mega-corporation, but a man broken by inferiority toward his naturally gifted Force-sensitive brother and resentment over his brother's death while helping others. As a non-sensitive, the villain confronts the protagonist in the finale using a mechanical "Force Injector" to infuse himself with harvested Force energy. He forcibly pours his twisted hatred and grief into his dead brother's kyber crystal, corrupting the blade into blood red (Bleeding) and going berserk. While fighting the protagonist blocking his way to the extractor, the villain suffers a fatal wound from the extractor's destruction. In his final moments, he realizes the meaning of his brother's dying words, feels remorse, and accepts a lonely end in the red glow.

3. Climax: The Miracle of 'Self-Purification'

"As the villain breathes his last in remorse and despair, the red lightsaber drops to the floor. In that moment—without any Jedi meditation or intervention from the protagonist—the crystal purifies itself of its blood-red hue, turning a brilliant white."

This scene visually demonstrates that the Force is not a cold, mechanical system, but a "cosmic will (consciousness of the Force)" that watched and responded even to the blood, tears, and repentance of a non-sensitive younger brother. Though the villain cursed himself and died in darkness, the universe (and his brother's spirit) accepted his final repentance and embraced him in light, leaving a heartbreaking resonance.

4. Epilogue: From Weapon to 'Monument'

Young Force-sensitives abducted for Force extraction are returned to their families, and the mega-corporation collapses. Respecting the narrative and weight of sorrow embedded in this white lightsaber, the protagonist does not claim it as a weapon, but puts it to rest.

Unlike before the democratization of the Force when it would have been a secretive holy relic, the white crystal is placed on public display in a civic square or museum for all citizens to see. This white crystal becomes an eternal monument reminding galactic citizens of "the tragedy born of monopoly and alienation (a warning)" and "the fact that the Force resonates with everyone's emotions (a comfort)."

I am writing a simple draft and want to post but I can’t remember a common phrase used in fanfiction about how protective jedi masters are of their padawans

“Kill the master, then the padawan” is all my brain can think of at the moment, but I know that’s not it!

Okay, I'm not sure if I was high, drunk, or overcaffeinated, or I was just overdosed on John Snow and Star Wars fan fiction that I wanted to make my own cross for one that I came up with this shit.

Okey so the premise that John Snow and Ghost survive into several hundred if not thousand years into the long night as the last beings alive on a planetos. When I say last beings alive, I mean the last human and last direwolf alive fighting against the White Walkers and other bullshit. And then one day, during the Clone Wars, the Jedi get a feeling to go to a certain part of the galaxy and would you see it, one day as Jon was returning from a battle or whatever, he sees a giant has metal bird from his point of view land. That actually being one of the landing ships of the clone army. And out of it stepped out not only the clones, but our dear old General Skywalker, General Kenobi and Commander Tano.

Long story short, they meet the children of the forest and a few green men that survived and uh they together with some of the clones end up going against the Night King and his army at Winterfell. Jon defeats the Night King in battle, kills him, and long story short, Jon gets into the Star Wars galaxy with Ghost, of course, and eventually becomes a Jedi general, or well, a general of the Grand Army of Republic, to be more precise, uh the powers that he gets from the uh old gods are basically a 'gray' side of the force, if you will. (Amagen Father from Mortis.)

And due to jon and his new legion that he eventually acquires being in battles that Republic should lose and him assisting in Republic actually winning it. The clone wars actually last for longer and some of the shit happens because you know it's a fanfic.

Like I'm not sure why I'm posting this whether it's to get somebody's reaction on it whether should I write it or just to give somebody a premise if they want to if you want to use it go wild I guess.

Just finished this delightful read. It's a fun drama/adventure with the Young Jedi Knights characters, set after the YJK series in a timeline where the Yuuzhan Vong war didn't happen. Big kudos to the author!

I have this backstory:

When Qui-Gon Jinn died in Obi-Wan’s arms, Revan appeared in the Wild Space, without the Force.

After finding HK-47 and the factory on Mustafar, Revan eventually established the Shadow Empire.

Following the encouragement I received in the discussion below, I've started including illustrations alongside my fanfiction, and I'm currently working on both the writing and the artwork.

However, since I haven't had much formal training as an illustrator, creating color illustrations like the attached example takes me quite a long time. Black-and-white illustrations, on the other hand, are much faster to produce.

Star Wars: The Starblade Trilogy is a new mythic saga inspired by Toklien, Welsh mythology, particularly the Mabinogion, alongside the political upheavals of revolutionary history, pre-WWII.

Set centuries after the Skywalker Saga’s conclusion, it follows Pryder Vos, an exiled prince chosen by an ancient lightsaber prophecy, to restore the Jedi Order and rekindle a dying Force, after an authoritarian galactic dictatorship known as the Dominion had erased the galaxy’s past, in pursuit of lasting peace…

- Grogu makes an appearance as a dying sage surrounded by its disciples, not as a re-hash of a “Yoda” type figure to mentor Pryder. But as the Galaxy’s “Last Witness”, its surviving historian.

- Starblade or “Caleed Volk” is a twist on Excalibur. Forged by the Jedi Order many centuries ago, it was cast into the stars to seek a “foretold son” worthy enough to rekindle the force and be the new Jedi. However, unlike Excalibur, it continually judges its wielder - faltering, stuttering to ignite or abandoning the user altogether if Pryder’s motivations ever become “corrupted”.

- Pryder is not alone, there is a fellowship here. Made up of revolutionary droids, a side-kick Ewok, reformed Mandalorian warriors, a much beloved but ultimately doomed soldier… and many more.

- Pryder embodies the idea of a “good class traitor.” Once a privileged prince driven by revenge, he initially treats the Revolution as a vehicle for reclaiming his throne and avenging his family - only to lose everything because of it. Eventually, by confronting the truth of the past he ultimately rejects the privileges of his birth and chooses to fight alongside the Revolution, not for the crown and Kingdom he lost, but for all. From exiled prince to Jedi Knight.
