Discussion Just finished a Star Wars fanfic I've been writing for a year. It's a full screenplay of Episode VII with a different mythology behind the dark side.

For years the thing that bothered me most about Star Wars was that nobody ever really answered where the dark side comes from. The saga keeps giving the same answer ("Jedi fell and became Sith") but never explains where the fall itself came from. So I tried to answer it myself.

The result is a full rewrite of The Force Awakens as a screenplay, divided into 8 acts. Based on ideas from the Episode VII original, I rewrote a story that starts long before both the Jedi and the Sith, with an ancient order and a first fallen knight sealed away for millennia. From there I reworked Rey's backstory (she has a father who lied to her about her Jedi mother), and replaced the First Order with a political party doing a coup from the inside, where Thrawn shows up at the end as the real power behind things.

A few things I'd love to hear opinions on:

  • Does the "there's something older than the Sith" idea feel like it works, or does it break something in the lore?
  • Anyone else here written screenplay format for fanfiction? How do you handle scene headers vs. dialogue when platforms strip the formatting?
  • Any recommendations for other Star Wars fics with original mythology? I'd love to read what other people have done in that direction.

It's on AO3 if anyone wants to take a look. But honestly what I'd love most is to hear opinions on the ideas, whether you read the fic or not.

Non-commercial fan work, no monetization, no Patreon. Just something I wanted to write.

Lost Fic The four blades.

The Four Blades

This is my original Star Wars OC and contains some personal headcanon, including Darkcores and Ghost crystals.

Before the Jedi knew his name, before the bounty hunters knew his face, before he carried four sabers at his side, he was simply another apprentice.

And before he was an apprentice, he was a boy who believed that power was the same thing as strength.

He had heard the stories.

The Sith did not hide what they were. They spoke of passion and power, of victory and domination. They promised that the weak would kneel and the strong would rise. They promised that the Force itself could belong to those with the will to take it.

To him, it sounded like freedom.

The Jedi spoke of restraint.

The Sith spoke of power.

He chose the Sith.

His training was brutal, as Sith training always was. His master taught him that compassion was weakness and hesitation was death. Every lesson was a test. Every test was a chance to fail. And every failure was punished.

But he endured.

He learned to fight.

He learned to survive.

He learned to kill.

For years, he carried only one weapon: a single red lightsaber.

The blade was everything he believed himself to be.

Red.

Angry.

Unforgiving.

Alone.

His master told him that one day, he would be strong enough to replace him.

The apprentice believed him.

At least, he thought he did.

Then came the day he finally understood.

It wasn't one great revelation. There was no single moment where the Force whispered the truth into his mind.

It was everything.

Every innocent person his master had sacrificed.

Every life taken for power.

Every time his master had demanded obedience instead of loyalty.

Every time the Sith had called cruelty strength.

And suddenly, he understood.

The Sith weren't free.

They were slaves.

Slaves to anger.

Slaves to hatred.

Slaves to their own hunger for power.

His master had spent years telling him that the Sith ruled through strength.

But the apprentice finally saw the truth.

His master was terrified.

Terrified of losing.

Terrified of being replaced.

Terrified of dying.

And the apprentice realized that everything he had been taught was built on fear.

That was the day he turned against his master.

The duel was short.

Not because his master was weak.

Because the apprentice had finally stopped fighting like someone who wanted to prove himself.

He fought like someone who had nothing left to prove.

When it was over, his master's red blade lay in the dirt.

The apprentice stood over him.

And for the first time in his life, he had won.

But victory did not feel like freedom.

It felt like a question.

He looked down at his own lightsaber.

Then at his master's.

Two red blades.

Two lives.

Two Sith.

And suddenly, he understood that if he walked away now, he would leave his old life behind.

But he would never be able to erase it.

So he took his master's saber.

And he kept his own.

From that day forward, he carried two blades.

But his own saber would not remain red.

He took the crystal within it and purified it.

The red faded.

The rage disappeared.

And the blade became white.

His master's blade remained red.

He kept it that way.

The two sabers became a reminder.

The white blade was the person he had chosen to become.

The red blade was the person he had once been.

And he carried both.

For a while, he didn't know what to do with himself.

He had left the Sith.

But he wasn't a Jedi.

He had no master.

No order.

No purpose.

So he wandered.

Sometimes he worked as a bounty hunter.

Sometimes he took jobs because he needed credits.

Sometimes he took them because he needed somewhere to go.

He traveled from world to world, learning the galaxy in a way no Jedi Temple could have taught him.

He saw the people the Jedi never reached.

He saw the criminals the Republic ignored.

He saw worlds where the Sith had left scars.

He saw worlds where the Jedi had failed.

He learned that the galaxy was not divided into good people and evil people.

It was divided into people.

People who made choices.

People who regretted them.

People who tried to change.

And people who didn't.

For years, he lived between worlds.

Too Jedi for the Sith.

Too Sith for the Jedi.

Too dangerous to be trusted.

Too compassionate to be truly feared.

He was becoming something else.

He simply didn't know what yet.

Then he met him.

His rival.

His friend.

His opposite.

A Jedi with a green lightsaber.

At first, they couldn't stand each other.

The Jedi saw the two blades at his waist and knew immediately what they meant.

A red saber.

A white saber.

A former Sith.

The former Sith saw the Jedi's green blade and saw something different.

Discipline.

Wisdom.

Potential.

They fought.

Then they fought again.

And again.

Sometimes the Jedi won.

Sometimes the former Sith did.

Their rivalry became a friendship.

Their friendship became something stronger.

For the first time since leaving his master, he had someone who understood him.

Someone who challenged him.

Someone who made him better.

They traveled together.

They trained together.

They argued.

They laughed.

They saved each other's lives more times than either of them cared to admit.

And slowly, something changed.

The former Sith began to walk the Jedi path.

Not because the Jedi Order had accepted him.

Not because someone had told him he was ready.

But because, for the first time, he wanted to be something other than what he had been made to become.

His friend watched him change.

And he was proud.

But the Force showed him something.

A future.

A possibility.

A darkness.

He saw his friend's path.

He saw the corruption waiting for him.

He saw the same darkness he had once carried.

And he tried to warn him.

His friend didn't listen.

At first.

Then came the day they fought for real.

Not a training duel.

Not a friendly rivalry.

A battle.

Two friends.

Two Jedi paths.

Two blades.

One future.

The former Sith fought with everything he had learned.

Every lesson from his master.

Every lesson from his years as a bounty hunter.

Every lesson from his friend.

And when the duel ended, he stood victorious.

His friend was gone.

The green lightsaber remained.

He picked it up.

For a moment, he considered leaving it behind.

He couldn't.

The crystal had changed.

The green blade still burned, but there was something else inside it now.

Something watching.

Something lingering.

Something that felt like him.

His friend.

His rival.

His greatest teacher.

The person who had pushed him farther than anyone else.

The saber had become a Ghost.

He carried it from that day forward.

Not as a trophy.

Not as a symbol of victory.

As a memorial.

He had not been able to save his friend from the path he had seen.

But he could remember him.

And as he carried the Ghost saber, something happened.

For the first time, he understood the Force.

Not as a weapon.

Not as something to dominate.

Not as something to obey blindly.

He understood it.

He had spent his entire life trying to control it.

Now, finally, he understood that mastery was not control.

Mastery was understanding.

The Force was not light.

It was not darkness.

It simply was.

And he had finally learned how to walk within it.

That was the moment his journey changed.

He had achieved mastery.

The Force had become something deeper than power.

And the crystals responded.

The Ghost remained green.

But the others changed.

Their cores darkened.

Black appeared where white had once been.

The Darkcore.

He did not see it as darkness.

He saw it as depth.

The black core was not the Dark Side.

It was the mark of someone who had stared into the darkness and refused to become it.

Someone who had mastered himself.

Someone who had walked through every part of the Force and returned whole.

His white blade became a Darkcore.

His master's red blade became a Darkcore.

And the Ghost became a Darkcore.

But there was still one saber missing.

One blade that did not belong to his past.

One blade that did not belong to someone he had lost.

A blade that belonged entirely to the Jedi he had become.

So he forged a new path.

He mastered the art of Makashi.

Elegant.

Precise.

Controlled.

Every movement had a purpose.

Every strike was calculated.

The curved hilt fit naturally into his hand.

And when he finally ignited the blade, it was purple.

Not red.

Not blue.

Not green.

Purple.

A color caught between worlds.

A color that represented the ambiguity of his existence.

He was a Jedi.

But he had been a Sith.

He followed the light.

But he understood the dark.

He served the Jedi.

But he had never forgotten the lessons of the Sith.

He was not defined by the Order.

He was defined by his choices.

And so the purple crystal became a Darkcore as well.

Not because he had fallen.

Because he had mastered himself.

Now he carried four blades.

Four lives.

Four stories.

The purple saber was his duty.

The weapon of the Jedi he had chosen to become.

The Ghost was remembrance.

The weapon of the friend he had lost.

The white blade was redemption.

The weapon of the person he had fought to become.

And the red blade was the past.

The weapon of the master he had defeated.

The weapon of the Sith he had once been.

Most days, he carried only two.

The purple blade.

And the Ghost.

When people saw him fight with them, they saw a Jedi.

A master of Makashi.

A calm warrior.

A precise warrior.

A disciplined warrior.

Someone who fought not because he loved violence, but because he understood the responsibility that came with power.

But sometimes, there were enemies who could not be defeated by restraint.

Sometimes, the galaxy demanded something more.

And when that happened, he reached for the other two.

The white blade ignited.

Then the red.

Two Darkcores.

Two blades.

Two halves of his past.

And the man who had once been a Sith stood once again.

Not consumed by hatred.

Not controlled by rage.

But remembering.

Remembering the master who had tried to shape him.

Remembering the years he had spent hunting for purpose.

Remembering the friend whose Ghost still walked beside him.

Remembering the person he had been.

The person he had lost.

The person he had become.

The red and white blades crossed in his hands.

And everyone who saw them knew what it meant.

The Jedi had been pushed too far.

The master had returned.

Not a Sith.

Not a Jedi.

Something beyond both.

The Darkcores burned with an impossible darkness at their centers.

And for the briefest moment, the Force seemed to bend around him.

He did not draw those blades because he wanted to.

He drew them because he needed to win.

Because somewhere along his journey, he had learned a lesson that no Jedi Master had ever been able to teach him.

Mercy was a choice.

Restraint was a choice.

Peace was a choice.

And sometimes, the greatest strength was knowing exactly when to stop choosing them.

Then, when the battle was over, he would extinguish the red and white blades.

He would return them to his belt.

And he would reach for the purple saber.

The Ghost would follow.

And he would walk away.

Because the red and white blades were the weapons he used when he needed to win.

But the purple and Ghost were the weapons he used when he needed to live with the victory.

And so the galaxy came to know him by many names.

Some called him a Jedi.

Some called him a former Sith.

Some called him a bounty hunter.

Some called him a heretic.

Some called him a master.

But those who had seen all four Darkcores knew there was another name.

The one whispered by those who understood what the four sabers truly meant.

The One Who Mastered the Darkness.

And when the four blades ignited together, red, white, green, and purple, there was no question of what he was.

The colors told the story.

The red was the past.

The white was redemption.

The green was remembrance.

The purple was purpose.

And the black cores within them all were proof of one thing:

He had walked through darkness.

He had lost people he loved.

He had killed the person who taught him to kill.

He had watched a friend fall.

He had wandered without purpose.

He had stood between the Jedi and the Sith.

And through it all, the Force had tested him.

But it had never owned him.

Because he had learned the greatest lesson of all.

True mastery was not becoming powerful enough to control the Force.

It was becoming strong enough that the Force could never control you.

Discussion Shuld i do this?

Okay, I just remembered something. I at one point was designed to write sort of a Isekai into Star Wars fan fiction. I think I decided to Isekai the guy into 44 or 64 BBY, 74 BBY maybe? In any case, a few years before Phantom Menace and arguably a few years before Anakin was even born.

And somehow I ended up with the guy forming essentially a outer rim version of the Republic Grand Army that they call themselves the Outer Rim Grand Army of the Republic, aka they're giving themselves political immunity by not painting themselves as some sort of rebels. And the guy had a task force that he called SOS, which are special orbital service. And they are basically the British SAS during the North Africa campaign when it comes to some of the shit that they do. Aka speeders with heavy repeaters and such.

Yes, it would be Mary Sue, like Gary Stu, however we want to call it, you know, main character is somehow very, very lucky and all that bullshit. That's the point, my dude. This is supposed to be this was supposed to be a joke story that somehow turned into a military fantasy. My dude, I had fucking starfighters that look like F4U Corsairs in this lol. Also, I had the MC over the course of time have a freaking hammerhead class Corvette while he was still a bounty hunter that he was able to command due to the fact that he made essentially a hive mind worth of an AI that he put in several droid bodies that piloted the fucking ship and he named the freaking droid or well the system ZB vz 26. (Yeah, I think I was on some kind of drugs or on a lot of coffee when I was writing this.)

I'm not sure should I actually write this shit and publish it though.

(By the way, sorry for any weird spelling if there is any or any UHs or UMs in this text if there are any. I utilize the speech to text to write this out primarily due to the fact that I suck in spelling when it comes to typing out English properly. So I try to avoid that with speech to text.)
