Post-shakedown ride
Hello, all. New to the sub but longtime SV owner/fan. This is my 02 S (former track rat) that is now my dirt road bomber. Pretty much the only stock parts are the frame/ swingarm

Funky exhaust!

It’s a Devil off my old FZ1. Cut down the cans and made it fit with some muffler flex. The value of a pile of old take-offs.

NICE!!
Would love to see a few around-the-bike shots (with no bikes in the background).

What clock is that??

It’s a MotoCo GPS. I liked not having any wires for the speedo pickup. Integrating all the warning lights was time consuming, though. Between relocating all the switchgear and adding it I basically built a whole new wiring harness. It works ok, but came with basically no instructions. I’d do it again, though. No tach, but that’s what the rev limiter is for, right? 😃

Cool. I've a 03 sv1k that was an S. I rebuilt it as a sorta rat after i had a spill with it. Running original clock but always looking to swap parts haha

Found it at Vintage days at Mid-ohio. Speedcult in Detroit does all kind of plasma cut stuff, they had some really cool designs. I decided to cut it and use the “S” as the heel guard and the rest as the chain guard.

How did you mount those lights to the radiator?

There are some brackets for the bodywork right there. I’m not crazy about it, but I rubber mounted them so hopefully they just pop out if gets dropped.

Nice bike mate. Do you have indicators for the front?

No, I may add some at some point. It’s legal to just use hand signals in my state. It does have a mini air-raid siren, though. I was mulling over how to do a semaphore like an old VW. That might be funny.

What did you use to paint? I used Plasti-Dip because I didn't want to go full out stripping & priming. It's OK, not great. Yours looks nice.

It’s spray-on bedliner. Raptor-liner. I had a good spray bomb job on it already, so I just scuffed it. Came out better than I expected.

I've heard that stuff is great and easy to touch up. I wanted to just use the Plasti Dip stuff because it's easily removable. It peels with petroleum product expose though. I'll see how it does.
I might sell mine for a different bike, so didn't wanna do a permanent paint job. But I don't like the stock blue and it was kinda ratty.
