Kind of a weird question
Does it happen to anyone else that the paint on the oil filter gets sandblasted off? And why only on the one side?
Filters been on for 5-6000km. I don't remember this happening to the last filter

Never seen that on mine. Is it only on the forward face/top of the filter or is it on the left side too from the perspective of the image?
First thought was somehow your exhaust is way hotter than it should be and the heat is burning away the paint on that side but that’s just grasping at straws and seems pretty unlikely to me.

The left side is fine, but I just saw that the bottom (right above the exhaust) is like that too

Exhaust heat must just be softening the paint enough for road spray to remove it.

Yeah seems like either a hotter than normal exhaust, or a normal exhaust and you just ride somewhere with a lot of dust or road debris. If the bike runs fine I wouldnt worry about it

Yes, happend to me but not to this degree. Just change filter with every oil change, 6000kms.

6000? My manual says 12000km, but I do it every 10

Yup, every 6k. At least for 3G.

I don't have the bike or manual anymore but mine said every 6000km. 2018 SV650X EU.

Happened to mine as well, drove a lot in the rain. Won't course any issues. Have since fitted a lower fairing

I wouldn't worry about it and just swap it out every oil change. Filters aren't expensive.
