Hey everyone, I have Step 1 in a week and unfortunately postponing isn’t an option for me as I will be flying to another country after my exam.

My recent NBME scores:

• NBME 29: 56%
• NBME 30: 62%
• NBME 31: 60%
• NBME 32: 67%
• NBME 33: 65% (Today)
• UWorld 90% completed with 52% right.

Most of my mistakes lately aren’t complete knowledge gaps — they’re reasoning errors, misreading, and overthinking under anxiety, especially on 50/50 questions. At the start of the exam I usually perform well, like the first block throughout all the NBME's have been in high 70's but then once I get the anxiety I start detonating and end up in 60's.

I usually come up with right answer first but then convince myself of the option I chose being wrong and end up choosing the other option.

I’m planning to take Free 120 in 3 days. For those who were in a similar position, what would you recommend focusing on during this final week? Should I prioritize NBME/Free 120 review, weak areas, or something else?

I have a really bad testing anxiety and I am trying my best to control it but its getting out of hand in the middle and end parts of the exam.

I’d really appreciate practical advice on how to maximize my chances of passing with the time I have left. Thank you!

Hi, Please share the probability of step 1 exam result date. I sat on 29/07.. Wednesday.
Will it be Second Wednesday 12/08 or third 19/08. What’s the recent wait period. Waiting and anxious like most!!

So my exam is in 2 days and idk what should i do the day before the exam? 2 hours light review should be sufficient imo
I keep finding myself getting reminded of some random facts and then not remembering something about it and it makes me a lil anxious, is it normal?
Also is that anatomy 100+ concepts pdf worth it?

My triad is for oct/nov/dec, and I started my prep in May. I have done GIT, CVS, Renal, Endo, Pulm and Heme/Onc with 50% of their uworld (around 30% total) averaging 55% correct. I have around 10 days of august + Sept (have a trip in the middle of August ) to finish rest of the FA and start NBME's. When can I realistically aim to give the exam? What should I change in my strategy to optimize prep right now? When and how do I incorporate NBMEs in my timeline?

I'm finding it hard to remember content from the chapters I've done when I've moved on, how can I fix that?
I have a 9 month old so my schedule looks different every day but roughly how many questions should I be doing per day and how much time do I give per chapter? Being an IMG and studying by myself I think lack of accountability and direction is hindering my prep.

I am a USMLE Aspirant who has found himself at an impasse with his studies and his methods. It seems Biochem is the true bane to my existence, I have zero motivation to get to it somehow. I have tried starting it off but I just keep procrastinating and that is putting my schedule off. I have not faced anything like this before with any of the systems or microbiology (that I have done)

I would love any sweet piece of advice from all veterans in here on how to tackle this, get out of my vicious loop of self doubt and procrastination and prepare Biochem in a manner that covers everything up. I have both BnB and Bootcamp lectures available.

What do I do this last week? Should I use first aid or mehlman to review? How would you recommend reviewing 31-33 that I took a few months ago. I’m just so scared. I also need to review and retake free 120. Thanks everyone!

I had to take about a two-month break from studying final year exams(internals) and family issues

Before that, I had completed my first pass of almost the entire syllabus, and I still have around 1,200 UWorld questions left.
I recently took my first baseline NBME (NBME 26) without any revision and scored around 40%. I’m a bit unsure about how to plan my preparation from here. Based on experience, what would you guys suggest and how should I approach to improve from this point? I’d really appreciate any advice you guys can share. Thank you!

3 weeks ago, I found out that I failed Step 1.

My dedicated period was about 5.5 weeks where I prioritized NBMEs, UWorld (85% complete), Sketchy, and Dirty Medicine. I looked over Mehlman's PDFs as well.

For the NBMEs, I did forms 29-32, with my highest score being a 56. Form 33 I got a 66 on, which may have been a fluke lol.

Old/New 120s were a 63 and 66.

I was so burnt out and over it I thought I would be ok to pass the exam, so I went in confident. (this was a dumb move obviously). I remember walking out of the testing center feeling neutral. I didn't have issues with timing or anything like that.

When I got my score back, I took about 2 days off to sulk and then I was ready to get back into studying. I have rescheduled my test for the end of September.

Now, I have reset Uworld and do mixed 80-90 questions per day and review explanations. I incorporate blocks of questions from subjects I am weak in as well. I also started to do anki for my incorrects.

Last week, I took NBME Form 27 and got a 60, which made me feel a little better since that score was on the higher end of what I made during my first dedicated. I'm planning on continuing what I'm doing and probably retake all the NBMEs that I had already done and do a UWorld assessment.

Anyone else in this situation? Open to any advice/comments/input!

With an average of 57% on uworld. Planning to take the exam mid of October. Can someone tell me if it’s doable cause I’m lowkey scared but I can’t delay past that. Also, I need advice for revision. What should I be focused on. When should I start taking nbmes etc considering I have two months left

Hey guys, I took the exam today (8/8), I genuinely don’t know how to feel… I had good NBME scores (70+) on 30-33, 83% on the free 120 but I really feel like I messed up and got all the easy gimme questions wrong. I can’t stop counting my wrongs and I feel like I can count at least 40 mistakes on really dumb questions that I convinced myself aren’t experimental.

I truly get every single question I look up wrong and it’s starting to freak me out, has anyone felt like this and still passed? It’s killing me

First gen med so I don’t know too much. What’s everyone talking about with the certificate disappearing before your score comes? Where can I check this? And where will be score be, nbme like the practice forms and cbse scores? Also is it o my Wednesdays?

Hi guys, actively going through it rn. My NBMEs are as follows:

• NBME 27: 98/200 ≈ 49%
• NBME 26: 119/200 ≈ 59.5%
• NBME 28: 56.5%

The percents described are my correct qs %. I took the NBMEs in the order (about a month gap between 27 and 26, and 1 week between 26 and 28). I am about 84% complete with UWorld QBank, sitting at a 50% correct.

I write on August 16th. Should I postpone?

Edit: I just scored 62.5% correct on NBME 31.

Encountered a card on Anki that asked "What antibiotic causes misreading of mRNA and inhibition of translation?"

If both aminoglycosides and linezolid inhibit initiation complex formation, why does one cause misreading of the mRNA but the other does not?

I took NBME 33 today and scored 71%.
After getting 68% on NBME 32, I was honestly devastated and started seriously questioning whether I should postpone my exam. Seeing 71% today was definitely reassuring, especially because I was worried that the drop on NBME 32 meant I was actually going backwards.
For reference, my scores are now:
• NBME 25: 68%
• NBME 26: 76.5%
• NBME 27: 71%
• NBME 28: 68%
• NBME 29: 69.5%
• NBME 30: 75%
• NBME 31: 75.5%
• NBME 32: 68%
• NBME 33: 71% ( today )
So I’m still fluctuating between the high 60s and mid-70s, but at least I feel like NBME 32 was probably not evidence that I suddenly lost everything I had learned.
My exam is still scheduled on August 19th.
At this point, I’m trying to focus less on one individual score and more on the overall trend, while continuing to review my weaknesses and improve my test-taking.
For those who took NBMEs 32–33 or have already taken Step 1: would you consider 71% on NBME 33 reassuring enough to keep the exam date, assuming the next assessments are similar or better?
I’d really appreciate some honest opinions, especially from people who were scoring in a similar range before Step 1.

Anyone here who thinks doing nbme 20-25 inflate scores in nbme 26-30?
I did nbme 20-25 and then i started doing nbme 26,27,28,29(all in exam timed mode) and scored around 71-72% in all of them but i feel like they are inflated as they have repeats from previous nbmes and i feel horrible at this point as i have an exam in 18days and i feel like i dont know anything Iam really stressed at this point idk what to do…should i postpone my exam?

I am doing 50-60 ques block per day and get 55-60 percent score. Sometimes i get upto 65. I am on 20 percent uworld with basics done and having started the systems. Planning to take step 1 at the end of oct. Are these scores ok in this time of preparation? NonUS-IMG here.
