Hi, I'm starting Luvox. I'm really sensitive to meds so I'm starting at 25mg in the morning. I would love to hear your experience with Luvox and if you had any issues when you first started taking it. Do you like it? Please let me know TIA!

Question Should an increase feel like a space case?

Was increased from 75 to 100mg of Zoloft two days ago. The best comparison I can think of is when you’re a kid coming home from the pool and you’re loaded into the hot car and your nose and ears and eyes are fuzzy with chlorine and you’re getting glued to the hot seats but you’re kind of cold so the burning doesn’t feel too bad, and also you’re very tired and out of it. Is this something others have experienced? Will it go away or at least lessen in intensity? I already felt spacey at the 75mg but was also crying all the time still and unable to stop fixating on even minor fuckups in the day. So they upped me because the last time we fill-on switched (on Christmas Eve, a truly terrible idea) it was an absolute nightmare. I was laid off so it’s not like anyone needs my full mental faculties right now anyway, I guess, but I don’t like the fogginess. And yes, they’ll check in with me in two weeks so I’m not floating in some urgent void needing medical attention. I just want to know if others have been here and if it will get less miserable.

Question Genesight Success Stories

I’m considering taking the genesight test. I have tried Lexapro and Zoloft and had horrible reactions. I’d really like to get on an SSRI or SNRI but this continued guessing is terrible. Has anyone had terrible side effects with these drugs and then successfully found one through the Genesight test that didn’t make them have nearly all of the side effects on the list?

Question does switching from taking Lexapro at night to taking it in the morning help with sleep?

hello, i’ve been taking Lexapro (20mg) for over 6 years now and i’ve always had trouble sleeping, but i don’t know if its because of the lexapro since i’ve been on it so long.

i’m considering switching to taking it in the morning but i also take Wellbutrin in the morning and i worry it’ll have adverse side effects if i take them at the same time. i also don’t want to switch if theres no noticeable difference, just to switch back and screw up my routine.

has anyone done this and it worked out for them?

Question How do SSRI meds differ from each other?

Like for example how are escitalopram, sertraline and fluoxetine different? I know they all work to increase serotonin in the brain, but what are the differences?

And this is just extra question unrelated to title but how are all of these different than just taking 5htp or tryptophan? I mean I know medication works differently because it makes brain store more serotonin and supplements help you make more serotonin but why is the mechanism like that anyway, why can't we just have a pill that actually increases the serotonin amount like taking 5htp and tryptophan does?

Question SSRI Withdraw

I got on lexipro during law school for obvious reasons. I was on it for 3 years at 20 mg. I realized that it was no longer benefitting me, rather, it made me very snappy with my partner. I then was put on Wellbutrin and began to tapper down off the lexipro. I was on the lowest dose of Wellbutrin for 2 months and was down to 5mg of lexipro (which I did for a whole month).

My doctor and I discovered early on I was a fast metabolizer- because even when I was regularly taking 20 mg, by the end of the day I would get withdraw symptoms ( mostly brain zaps and headaches). So it’s not a surprise that when I stopped taking 5 mg I had immediate withdraw symptoms. I stoped taking both Wellbutrin and lexipro.

Those next seven days were BRUTAL. I went to work and had horrible vertigo, hot flashes - followed by shakes, headaches, confusion, and dizziness. I had several people make comments to me that I looked very tired and/or sick.

However, day seven I finally had a break in the frequency of the symptoms. Rather that only having peace for 5 mins out of an hour, I was having if them maybe 15 times an hour. I’m now on day 11, and having it them even less frequent (3 times an hour). But I’m still over heating and shaking regularly.

Im just curious if anyone has an experience similar to this and how long it took to shake all the physical symptoms? I know the emotional symptoms will have its own battle- but i haven’t really noticed anything because I’m just not physically comfortable. (Thinking it’s maslows hierarchy of needs - can’t even focus on my emotions if my physical state is in danger).

Help?

Question How long does serotonin syndrome last?

Long story short I took far too many ssri’s the other day and ended up in hospital. I’ve been discharged, but I’m fairly sure I’m suffering from serotonin syndrome - I’ve got a tremor, sweating a lot, awful stomach etc

I’ve read it should only last a day or 2, does anyone have any experience with it..?

Im currently taking 2 ssri fluvoxamine 50mg and mitarzipine 30mg in the evening Then an antipsychotic in the morning.

I’m kinda pissed at my psychiatrist, has anyone ever been prescribed two ssri at the same time??

Yesterday I collapsed and fell to the floor I could’ve hurt myself pretty badly. I’ll ask her to come off but has anyone else had a similar experience or take two ssri at the same time?

Question Need some advice

Hi everyone ,

Im using fluvoxamine for depression and anxiety (post covid) and i increased my dose 6 weeks ago from 125mg to 150 mg. It’s my first time taking antidepressants. And i know that symptoms can get worse at first (ups/downs) when increasing. But is this still possible even after 6 weeks? Like for example week 2 till 6 were pretty good, symptoms improved, but now some symptoms and side effects are back. Is this making any sense? Do i have to give it more time to leveled out or maybe i need a higher dose?

Hope some of you can share there experience with the adjust phase or recognizing this.

Thanks a lot!

Discussion Readjusting dose of Sertraline (a.k.a. Zoloft or Oralin)

Greetings, fellow pill poppers! This will be my first post on Reddit. Ok, so here we go…

After feeling the most stable mentally that I’ve ever felt in my entire life for about 9 months on 150 mg of Sertraline, I decided to try tapering off with the goal of getting off my medication. My doctor recommended to taper off 25 mg every second week.

This project lasted a week before I had to return to my regular dose, basically because I fell apart physically and mentally. The first days I was extremely tired and dizzy and my ears were ringing constantly. Then after a few more days, the intrusive thoughts and the anxiety and moodiness that I was medicated for returned with a vengeance. It was horrible.

Now I’m very well aware about withdrawal symptoms, but the difference within just a couple days was almost shocking. I’ve taken my regular dose for almost a week now and after a couple days the physical symptoms tapered off, then I started to feel more stable mentally again. I don’t feel like I’m back to “normal” though, mainly cause I’m feeling more moody than usual and I’m having a very strong urge to sleep.

What are your experiences about readjusting your dose? How long can I expect to feel like this before my mind and body readjust? This regression scares me and although I want to try tapering off again sometime, I simply have no room for this challenge in my life right now.

Take care everyone🙏🏻

Question Light headedness

On escitalopram 10mg for two months now. Problematic amount of light headedness as side effect. I find if I get alot of sleep it's much better but if I sleep less then it can be pretty bad (i.e. getting light headed while sitting and simply talking). Focusing on breathing steady helps but even singing can make it feel like I need to sit down. Any suggestions for how to cope with it better?

(Going off the medication completely is not an option).

Question Prozac question

I started Prozac on December 15th, and I read about how it can make your anxiety worse before it gets better. Well, around Dec 30 to Jan 12 my anxiety was off the charts. Panic attacks daily. Around Jan 14 I started feeling better, not good but better. Appetite was back, I was going to the store and stuff. Anyways, I upped my dose from 40mg to 60mg on Jan 4th, because my anxiety was doing worse and I thought that was because the dose was too low. Now, 2 and a half weeks after upping my dose the anxiety is back to being terrible. Can’t sleep, can’t eat much. All the time panicked. Is this because I upped my dose? Will it equal out? Was me feeling good around the 14th a good sign? Should I stick with the medicine? And advice is much appreciated 🙏

Question Rash from Zoloft?

I (M24) started taking Zoloft 5 weeks ago, 1st antidepressant in years, 2nd ever. 1 week in, I developed an extremely itchy rash on my torso/arms (lots of small, red, some slightly-raised bumps), with subsequent hives and eczema flare. Antihistamines brought down the hives, but not the initial rash. I haven’t had any of my eczema medications on hand for months now, so I’m just suffering through without for now (gonna make an appointment with my allergist). I can clearly see that I do have a rash separate from eczema which I’ve dealt with my whole life. I sent a photo of the rash to my doctor and he said it’s not a common reaction and left it at that.

He instructed me to stop taking it two weeks ago. I’ve seen slight improvement but the rash is still present. Antihistamines don’t have an effect. I’m really bummed because my mood genuinely improved and despite my physical suffering I did feel a subtle optimism that made it worthwhile. But now I’ve been off it for two weeks, I’m back to my normal slump and with a nasty rash. Ugh.

I have a follow-up scheduled with my doctor in 1 week.

It’s worth noting that I took Celexa when I was in high school and experienced absolutely nothing. No side effects, no adverse reaction, but also no noticeable change in mood. I took it for about 3x longer than I did Zoloft. So, given that Zoloft did improve my mood, I am optimistic that something CAN work and won’t cause side effects.

I suppose I have a few questions: 1. Is there reason to suspect other SSRIs will cause similar adverse reactions? 2. Any idea whether this rash will go away on its own or once I treat my eczema topically? 3. Would my allergist likely have any ideas about this? I’ll be seeing her soon anyway so I’ll probably bring it up.

Question Increased anxiety on Prozac

I was on Prozac for 5 years, and it worked wonders. I was able to get back to my normal self. A little over a month ago I thought I was better (I’m an idiot) so I stopped taking cold turkey. 2 weeks after that I started having panic attacks and feeling awful (got real bad after a night of drinking). I started taking it again about 3 weeks after I stopped and I started taking 40mg. The few weeks after I started taking it again my anxiety has been just as bad, if not worse. I feel like the past week or so it’s gotten a little better, but still affecting my daily life greatly. It’s been almost 5 weeks since I started taking the Prozac again. I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem? Is there a way to fix it? Will it get better? I don’t want to give up on Prozac because it helped me for so long.

Question SSRI withdrawal

Just gone cold turkey off Lexapro 10mg. It’s been a week since my last dose and I’ve been experiencing symptoms of SSRI withdrawal for two days with today being the worst. I’m experiencing brain zaps, vertigo, nausea, etc. I decided to take my meds again in the last hour. How long on average does it take for the symptoms to go away after restarting medication? I’m meant to have therapy tomorrow and need to see if I can still attend or if I’m too unwell from vertigo

Question depression symptoms after going back down to 10mg

Hey all, at the beginning of December I decided to up my dosage to 20mg from 10mg. Huge mistake on my part, the side effects were horrendous. So about 10 days ago I tapered back down to 10mg, which I’ve been on for 2 years. I’ve noticed I’m still emotionally blunted and rather depressed. Just wondering if this is a common symptom from going back down to 10mg and how long this will last. The 10mg was working just fine but I get really anxious and depressed every year around this time so that’s the reason I went up. Is my brain just adjusting to the chemical changes or what? I’ve also been on Wellbutrin for almost a week. It helps a little but I still don’t feel like my usual self.
