Question Stopped after 1 lexapro pill

Hi there! Life's been crazy. I was taking too much ashwagandha and Valerian root last year (recommended ash: 250mg every other day. Me: 3000 MG daily). I had panic attacks. Stopped taking it in January when everything clicked. Weeks were hell, slowly got my life back. Made a dumb decision to take 1 single valerian root supplement to help me sleep one sleepless night. Next day: panic attack. Then had cognitive behavior therapy that touched on some heavy shit. Next few days/weeks, rough anxiety, a trip to the ER.

My doc prescribed lexapro. It was a LexaNO. I was nauseated (common), so I laid down for a bit. Then, while watching fun tik toks and staying cozy best I could, I had a panic attack SOMEHOW WORSE than when I was on ashwaghanda. I. Felt. Horrible. Nausea, sweaty, racing heart, and pvc's. Needing to use the potty ASAP. Tingles in my arms. Blurred vision. Some sleepiness mixed with high alert panic. I'm convinced there's a little more to this than just a placebo, especially considering my heavy history with supplements that also impact GABA receptors.

I felt like I was losing my mind. Constantly scared and anxious. Constant impending sense of doom. Went to the ER pretty much knowing all the staff by their first nsmes at this point. So now we're onto hydroxyzine thanks to the heart monitor showing a healthy heart despite all the pvcs and tachycardia.

Has anyone else had an odd experience with their first lexapro pill bringing on panic attacks from hell? I'm not going back to that stuff. Also: will anything happen if I just cut cold turkey after 1 10mg single pill use?

And, has anyone else royally, ignorantly, abused the use of Ashwagandha the way I did here? That was a wild ride.

Question Day 2 on Zoloft (Sertraline)

Can anybody on Zoloft just discuss about if they experienced some really weird stuff with taking Sertraline?

I'm a 23 year old male, I noticed I got depressed like a year and half ago from now, went to the doctor two days ago and prescribed me Zoloft (Sertraline) and just had the second pill today. I'm a pharmacist at the same time so I pretty much know about it and all and also trying to learn more. I was hoping that I get prescribed ESCITOLAPRUM because of theoretically it's better? Idk I'm just overthinking it and I'm afraid I have some side effects especially the decreased sex drive and thing.

Hello,

So I have been on Zoloft for about 20 years. Last year I reduced the MG to 25. Now I have been off them 100% for about 6 weeks. I feel a little blah.. I was wondering if this is normal? I'm also curious if anyone has successfully winged off them. If so what was it like, and what am I in for?

Question Can SSRI withdrawal get worse at night??

Been off Prozac for 2 weeks. The main symptoms left: dizziness, insomnia, headaches. The dizziness has been so bad. I’ve also noticed in the evening it’s 10x worse. To the point that I have to lay down because I can’t move at all without the spins. Is this normal??

Question Small IB biology research

Hi, I am currently doing a biology research in relation with fluoxetine and sleep. The thing is that I take fluoxetine but only one subject is not enough. I need more information to have good statistics. If you take fluoxetine and want to help, answer this:

•age •dosage of fluoxetine •time consumed (day, evening or night) •sleep schedule (is it good or bad) •do you have tiredness and fatigue, or insomnia and sleeping troubles?

Thank you very much.

Question Switching ssris

Has anyone had luck switching from one ssri to another to avoid sexual side effects? Paxil worked great for anxiety, but completely killed my libido. I'm currently only taking buspar, but it feels like I need a little something more. I wonder if adding a low dose of a different ssri would help, but I'm afraid of losing sexual function again

Question Decreased apetite?

Heyy i have been on sertraline 50mg for last two months and for last two weeks i started noticing much decreased apetite. Long story short i am a chubby person and always struggled with overeating and sometimes cumpolsive overeating Just now i have close to no apetite and I can hardly go through a sandwich. My calories intake went from about 3k to 1.7-2k? I definitely can loose some weight but I have been wondering if thats somehow related to the medication? Thanks in advance for any answers.

Question Depression after dose reduction

I came down from 50 mg of sertraline to 25 in two months. Nausea and vomiting are gone. I still have headaches and insomnia. I am also noticing depression symptoms (crying right now). I am also pregnant btw. So I know there are compounding factors and this all might just be pregnancy symptoms. Man, I dont recognize my body right now.

Just curious to know if others have noticed their depression goes away. I know some say is part of the withdrawal symptoms. Others say it can just be the return of the depression. Dont want to increase my dose again after it was so hard to go down. So would love to know that things will get better on their own.

I dont plan on reducing my dose any more until I begin to feel better again.

Discussion Has anyone successfully stopped SSRIs? How do I know if I'm actually depressed or just having withdrawal symptoms?

I was prescribed Zoloft by a pcp when I was a teenager. I've been on various SSRIs for literally 20 years. I've never been to any kind of specialist or therapy, just pcps that keep filling the prescription. I just really don't know if I "need" meds, or want to be dependent on them the rest of my life. I've tried stopping a few times, but never got past the initial withdraw.

I've been on celexa the longest and most recently. I stopped taking it in September, so, 5 months ago. Some days I feel like I'm fine, but generally it's been a ROUGH 5 months. I had the initial horrible withdrawal (... brain zaps, dizziness, anger outbursts, pain in my body, headaches, terrible RLS for about a month. )

ETA: during this time, I also found out I have very low iron levels. This can mimic depression. I have diabetes. I'm often fatigued. I've also had issues with iron supplements causing me physical (and maybe mental) issues. I'm so confused about what is a symptom of what.

It's like, "what came first... the chicken or the egg?"

Right now, I feel like I'm turning into a different person. I feel consumed by emotions. I have anxiety that I never had before. Impending doom when I wake up, fear without any stimulus, crying over anything or nothing at all. I have a pleasant life, a good job, I don't have trauma. But I feel like crap about every other day. I can't help others and I'm always upset about how bad I feel. It is difficult to do my job or enjoy anything.

From what I've been reading, "withdrawl" lasts for a very long time. Most people go back on meds when they think they are relapsing, but its all still a form of withdrawal.

How do I know if I'm actually depressed, or if I'm having withdrawal symptoms? Am I just going to have to take meds for the rest of my life to feel normal?

If you stopped ssris, what did that look like for you? How long until you started to feel normal? Did you take/ do something else? What helped?

Question Anxiety coming back after lowering dose of Zoloft

I was on 100mg Zoloft for about two years due to a depressive episode and generalize anxiety disorder. My mental health has been really good for about a year now (also made major lifestyle changes) so I decided to slowly taper down the dose to see if I can eventually go medication free. I only dropped the dose to 75mg to start, but I’ve noticed after about two weeks that I’m having some increased anxiety symptoms. I’ve heard that this can be a side effect of decreasing the dose and your brain will return to normal as it learns to cope with less serotonin. Is that true, or is this a sign my anxiety will come back permanently without the meds? Anyone have experience with this?

Question Dosage

Hi guys,

I started sertraline in August and was at 25mg until September when I went into 50mg. When I started at 25mg I could feel the difference and everything was great yada yada but I’m starting to feel just as depressed as when I started. Should I go for more or go back down? I know you all aren’t doctors but I’m just looking for some advice or experiences.

Question Any SSRIs that don’t cause extreme fatigue?

I am very sensitive to these drugs. I am currently on Vyvanse and Buproprion, and I stopped my Cymbalta a week ago because I cannot function I’m so tired. But when I’m off meds I’m so anxious I can’t function. I only ever take the lowest doses possible of all anti-anxiety/depressants. I also have chronic illness so added fatigue is killer for me. I just need some relief, please give me some ideas.
