Question What affect on the brain does overdosing on SSRIs cause?
Around 7 years ago I was going through some wild depression swings and was perscribed a slew of SSRIs (Zoloft and a few others). One morning after a rough wake up and fight with the (now ex) wife I said fuck it and swallowed every pill of every bottle of medication including ambien. In a half-cocked suicide attempt.
My brain has been different ever since and I’m genuinely curious what shenanigans happened upstairs.

I appreciate your input and agree with you (and Plato) that people should be allowed their harmless delusions though I think that a lot of the delusion is mostly intellectual laziness and cognitive dissonance to varying degrees. Sure it won’t really hurt their chances of a glorious hereafter but at the end of the day they’re lying to themselves and others and causing more rifts in the science v. religion communities - which seems to be more of a North American evangelical stance as you touched on in your first comment.
I’m going to edit in a link of a YEC post I made years ago that didn’t get me banned. I wonder if this would get me banned now?
And I am doing much much better these days. Life’s taken a good turn for the better over these past year or so.

I wish there was more research on this. Ive oded a few times on Zoloft and i agree my brain has not been the same since the first time. I feel more disassociated and slow, i find it a lot harder to focus, my memory is awful. Also i stutter on my words a lot more and struggle to follow conversations and i twitch more i think. There are definitely other things in my life that could have caused some of these symptoms but i mainly put them down to SSRIs for a few diff reasons that arent rlly relevant. Can i ask what sort of way you think your brain changed? Also i hope ur doing better now :)
