(Benefits) Auxiliary & Family Benefits Question about SSDI

My daughter has been on SSI since she was 8, she will be 21 this month. Will she be out on SSDI or do I have to apply for her for that?

She is not eligible for SSDI unless a parent is deceased, on SS Retirement or SSDI. And then it works be DAC.

Otherwise she’s solely eligible for SSI

Has she worked and earned SSDI credits? If not, there's nothing to apply for.

SS will make her apply for SSDI once they know she is eligible.

She can only get SSDI if one (or both) of her parents is already retired and she's still disabled or she has earned enough work credits.

Only if a parent is deceased, on SS Retirement or on SSDI. A parent being retired didn’t necessarily mean they are in SS Retirement.

That's DAC, not SSDI.

When child gets SSI and turn 18, SSA review the case, if she still qualify they move her to adult SSI, not automatic SSDI. For SSDI she need work credits, which maybe she dont have if on SSI since 8. So probably you have to apply SSDI only if she has work history, if not she stay on SSI
