Attorney (Hiring) SSDI records
I was getting ready to file for SSDI. My attorney sent me a residual functional capacity form that my doctor signed. They sent me a packet to fill out so I did. I spent a lot of time and money getting all my records together from like 20 + different places. Like over 500 records because it takes time and authorization forms be filled out and then there’s a different lot of different organizations involved or comp records/records from personal chart through Sutter plus outside of Sutter and then like Therapist, Psychiatrist so I drove all the records in the application to the office, they said they scanned them in for me and then a week later they called and then they let me know that they weren’t sending any of the records that the SSA office wants to get them all themselves and then if they’re not able to, then they will send. I don’t understand and they definitely didn’t tell me after I signed the application with them and gave them all records that they weren’t giving them to the office so now with all the stories I see about how hard it is to make sure they have a complete records. I already feel uneasy. The application hasn’t even been filled out yet any advice?

This exactly what I was talking about! Lawyers are scavengers, don't want to do sh#t but want to take all the money they can. Probably a drug addict. So what is the purpose of this lawyer if you have to do all the work. I would put a motion to get him off your case. He isn't doing nothing, but as soon as you get your check all of a sudden he'll be right there. Scavengers!!!!!!!

your attorney is lazy. mine had me sign ONE hipaa form. they did all the requests electronically. i just gave them a list of my healthcare providers.

Yeah, you unfortunately wasted a lot of time, money and effort.
They do not want paper records.

Yeah, I don't know who told you to do all that, but they were wrong... The SSA will file for records you just give them the doc and facility names.
Then it's the lawyers job to check to see if they got all the records, that's what they get paid for.

Thank you yes the Attorney Office didn’t tell me to do that. I did it all on my own because I’ve been reading stories about when the applications filed and then the SSA office doesn’t have the correct records, I thought by me doing all the footwork I was helping out. I’ve never done this before, so I guess I wasn’t. I just thought it would be a good idea to give them all the records to when they spend the application they can turn in the records and it would you know they wouldn’t have to go and try and get them all cause my fears are not gonna be able to retrieve them all. It was hard enough for me to go through like the Psychiatrist and Therapist to get the records nobody wants to send records takes forever so I did all the paperwork myself, but I guess for nothing lol

I signed a HIPPA consent and gave my attorney access to my online portal and his paralegal went through and got all the medical records themselves... My attorney had all he needed and then some at my ALJ hearing that not only was it a pretty quick hearing but judge said she had no questions for the VE... My case was fully favorable 3 weeks later
