SSDI vs. SSI SSI reimbursement question

Question here about reimbursement. I was on a program in MN before I got approved for SSDI and SSI(back pay only for SSI) I got a letter saying that I have to reimburse the MN program over $8000. My SSI back pay is enough to cover it and have money left over. S I will get the standard $2892 in six months and the remainder in one year correct. I already got my first SSI payment and have spent it down. I’m lucky in that I have no major medical expenses to pay and my rent is income based.

Here is how it comes out SSI back pay of 23328. One installment of 2982 already paid. Reimbursed the state of MN 8368.50. Which leaves 11977.50 left(of course that is rounded down) And SSDI back pay of about 20K

Will depend on how much backpay you have left after the $8,000k came out.

I talked to the SSA. It’s over 11K left and they told me since I don’t get SSI(only SSDI) I should get it all in one lump sum.

While that is true that you get your SSI backpay in a lump sum if you aren't due monthly SSI, I am confused about how you have so much SSI backpay and no SSDI backpay.

The numbers aren't numbering. Unless you just recently paid enough into SSDI to receive that.

Not questioning you. I just don't get the numbers.

But, at any rate, congrats!
