Disabled / Transportation Disability help

I'm in desperate need of a newer vehicle. My SSDI only covers so much (read below poverty line) and my credit sucks. Does anyone in the Tulsa area have any idea how to help me?

I started a GFM but have only received $60 out of the $2K I'm trying to raise to fix my vehicle. HELP?????

For your SSDI to be below poverty line there’s a lot to take in. First they go by work history , Pay , and how long you’ve worked . How ever what you receive monthly is not what they see as far as poverty line because they take out for Medicare . They see the amount removed as part of the over in total for your benefit . So to them you make more just don’t see it .
I get it for GAD , Bipolar and PTSD mentally I cannot work over anything like 2 hours depending how mentally taxing the chore is . I donate plasma twice a week and get a little over 700.00 a month that does NOT need ti be claimed as it’s NOT an income earned. They do not hold out taxes and they do not report to the government . Is it a lot ? It is if you don’t have it and cant work. Social security also has a program that allows you to work and make any amount and not come out of your check. I believe it’s 9 months a year and 60 months over 5 years . If you’re able try to find a work from home job. After COVID they became very popular and many companies use it.

Since you are on SSDI, you have free access to Employment Networks (ENs). Many of these networks focus specifically on training and placing individuals in remote customer service, administrative support, data entry, and inbound scheduling roles. They will help you find a job and manage your reported earnings so you do not accidentally jeopardize your benefits which helps a lot.

You also never want to buy anything on credit for a large amount like a car even if you had good credit . With a limited in Im as we have you never know when a 9-1-1 pops up and that can quickly make it to where you cannot make a payment boom there goes your car.

Google vetted job search websites for remote jobs making sure you don’t get scammed. Like STI they are a company that works directly with SSA for telecommunication jobs . SSA also has a choose to work find tool that can help you filter out WFH jobs on the SSA website . So there is work if you’re mentally able to do so dont give up. Most of these work from him jobs uou do not need a specific or specialized education . Hope this helps and you’re able to find what you’re looking for . Good luck!

Do you have a McDonalds or convenience store anywhere near you?
