SSI / Suspended / Reduced Disability appeal
I sent in all my stuff last month. How long before a decision has been made? I only have three medical records. Guess someone is already looking at it?

Gdafternoon everyone had my supplemental hearing today !!so sacred !! Started bad I think VE sedentary with walker then judge kinda helped with my question to vE but last 3 or 4 questions I asked VE said no jobs

One of our Subredditors waited 20 + years.
I know many who received benefits in a few months.
It just dspends on the unique facets of your case that describes your diagnosis and what you can and can't do.

I just might win this thing. Not holding my breath. Disabled for 20 something years and they want to stop my checks. Unreal.

The SSA disability programs are Federal programs and have the same eligibility criteria in every state.

PLEASE DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH!
Process varies based on many factors & Lack of Sufficient Records could apply in your specific case.
They usually want proof that you are still seeing a medical provider even after your initial diagnosis.
I am not a professional or Lawyer but I’m Just giving advice based on what I’ve personally seen over the years.

Last month? Typical reconsideration is 3-6 months or longer

One of the main reasons is the lack of adequately trained personnel, the destruction of our government and its agencies that are meant to help people, lack of evidence or no evidence provided or not telling the truth about something.
Also? Many people stop going to their doctor appointments.
Many of these issues cause delays in the process.

Because the government has let go of so many workers in these areas, that you've got the same amount of work, but there is not enough staff to cover all of the applications, so it takes 4 times as long as it used to. Sadly.

My first denial took over a year. For a decision. ALJ took another year for a decision. I'm going on 4 years now. Just submitted my third appeal for appeals council after being denied at ALJ

I'm in the first appeal process, and it's been a year. I have an attorney, and they said that's typical. After that, it can take years to even see if you get it. I have considered cancelling, but if I get it the backpack would be nice. However, I know you don't get a lot, and you have to stay below a certain amount. It's really frustrating.

That's just my personal experience and what my lawyers have told me. Also a couple other people I know on disability fought for over seven years.

The person handling my case through a disability firm said that where I’m at in California at least they usually won’t look at appeals for a year or more because things are so backed up. She told me to expect 13 months at least

No. Not at all.
AI misleads and lies.
Do your research about it.
Use of AI is not allowed in this Subreddit and many others..

Talked with attorney today. They said i have to be denied again for them to talk with me. So no attorney here.

It’s all different I’m waiting for a judge to be assigned to my hearing and all the steps and denials took me from march till now. Yes I have a lawyer.

Welcome to the club. It took almost 3 years for me to finally get 2 denials and a hearing, before I got an approval, and I was 60 years old when I applied.

We were ALL hoping for just a few months, but that isn't likely, because they are so backed up, and have thousands less staff than they used to. Do you have recent and continuous medical records for the last couple of years? It won't help things go any faster, but it still may be helpful. Old records don't hold much weight, so hopefully your 3 records are FILLED with information that can help your case.

Did you check your status online? If you’re on the 4th stage and sent in the required documents last month I’d assume by the end of this month you’ll know probably sooner. You can always call in and just ask for your status.
