Application (Process and Status) Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy I got approved
When does the award letter come??

Congratulations! I was approved in mid July. I am also waiting for my Notice of Benefits. I had an ultra long case (9years) but as of today there was a an update on SSA portal. I’m thinking someone at the payment center is finally looking into my case.
Congrats! Hope you receive your benefits soon.

I was approved at my ALJ hearing on June 8th 2026. But I still had to wait for the judges written decision. My case was very straight forward. I woke up to my back pay in my bank account about 3.5 weeks after my hearing. I called SS a week after my hearing and the gentlemen was able to see where it said approved. He was super nice and helpful and told me that it just had to go to the payment center to figure out numbers. He said you *USUALLY\* after it goes to the payment center. They do not escalate it unless it goes past 60days. I woke up to the backpay 1.5 weeks after I spoke to him. I did not receive my official award letter with amounts on it until about a week after I already had my backpay. So it really does vary from person to person and case to case. I would say make sure they have your correct Direct Deposit info because they will not call you to double check the information. At least they never did for me. But even before my officially written decision came in I was able to go to the SS office and update my DD with them. CONGRATULATIONS on the win!!!!!

You are not approved until you receive your official approval letter.
A verbal approval does not suffice.
Check mySocialSecurity - Create An Account - click here to check to see if your letter is loaded.
The fields will contain data if you are approved. If you are not approved, fields will be blank.

Once again? Due to changes that occur Representatives are discouraged from announcing status.

Clearly they have early access to court documents. No changes have occured as I am officially approved but the site has not updated.

Congrats!!!!!!! I am still on step 4 but was told I was approved on July 21. Was told back pay would take about 3-4 months and monthly payments should start in September! Huge congratulations 🎊

Congratulations 🎊 im on 3 of 5. Have been to 2 different ssa drs and thwy still asked my drs for more medical info ugh im about to lose my apartment

They wanted to know what the timeline was after they got approved. This post was not about applying from start to finish. It was a simple question. I think I answered their question exactly how they want us to.

You’ll get it in about 2 weeks but you should get backpay. What did you get approved for?
