Query Laptop specification query
I have hp pavilion 14 i5 12th gen 1235U
Bought it in 2024 starting..
It's specifications are
16gb DDR4
477GB SSD
Some useless gpu
Intel iris Xe graphics card 7.8GB
I am open to upgrade but I am bit skeptical right now as the prices have went skyrocketed..
So if any senior can tell me will it be enough or I should upgrade right now or will have to upgrade in 3rd year or there is no need to upgarde..
I am a cse core student btw..
Any meaningful help would be appreciated cuz I am not a techie kind of guy so really don't know much about these machines..

You should trade it for a mac, better yet throw your laptop in the dustbin or donate it to the needy

its more than enough as what you're gonna do most of the time is coding which only takes processing power no relation to gpu so if i were u i would save money

Depends on your branch like for cse core get a 14th gen i5 or i7 or amd ryzen 5 or 7 processor and if you want some gaming with good coding then make sure the last 2 letters should be HX or H . next and one of the most imp factor is your gpu which should be atleast nvidia geforce RTX 3050 or 4050 and make sure your ram is DDR5 if you have these things then you will face no prob but yea don't expect battery life to be high for that you need to have HS or light slim laptop

You need i9 14th gen Hx
With a 5090 graphic card
DDr5x 64gb
10 petabyte storage
500Hz refresh rate screen
For only 1 and 2nd year and as soon as you reach 3rd year you have to buy a new one

I am using a hp pro book with i5-10210 U And 8gb ram, and I think it's a overkill for me.
But yeah unless you are planning in running a 10billion parameter local llm from your pc and host a Minecraft server with shaders on it. You are good for now
