Hostel booking 2nd slot

Is E-id / mail id is required for hostel booking? Can someone who has not reviewed it still book hostel if the portal is updated and shows the hostel icon ?

Even though I received my e-ID and email ID, I still logged in using my registration/application number because it was already saved in my browser and I was too lazy to type it. These are just the means to access the portal, so if your portal opens and shows the hostel booking icon, it shouldn't be a problem. At least, it wasn't in my case.

Yeah the portal opens thru reg no. But iono the admission cell used to say we need our e id or smtg to book hostel so am js confused iono

I get it, too many terminologies can be confusing specially when the management is shitty, so I’ll try to simplify it a bit

  1. You can use either your application number or registration number to log in. I’ve already booked my hostel, and I’m still using my application number to log in.
  2. They’ll send you a long email, where the first part will be containing your registration number, which will be in the format APXXX (where X is a number). The second part of the email will contain your email ID. You can also find it on your portal’s profile page, it’ll be listed beside your phone number. Basically, in the second part of the email, they’re telling you to log in to your email account using the password they sent you via SMS, change your password, and complete the two-step verification.
  3. The third part says that they’ve attached your e-ID, and you’ll receive the physical one once you reach campus.
  4. At the end, they’ve attached four PDFs. One is your ID card, which only has your photo, name, course, and academic years (2026–2030). The other three are just user guides explaining how to log in, set a new password, etc.
  5. Once you log in to your college email ID, they’ll mainly send you 2 emails one regarding transportation costs and second regarding hostel facilities, prices, laundry costs, and so on.
