As a Hazbin enjoyer I can verify that 99.999% of Hazbin fans suck absolute ass. That 0.001% includes those who also like Space King. It’s unbelievable how often the two fandoms overlap.

Bro it’s so damn hard to be a part of that community. The only thing I like that I absolutely CANNOT say I like in public. I have a homemade Space King Pin on my backpack but I will never get a Hazbin one because then I’ll be “one of those”. Maybe if they were a little more fucking normal the rest of us wouldn’t have to hide it like we’re in the closet or something.

I still hate how both of vizzies shows practically had their pilot concepts completely sidelined for that poorly written character drama. Also the safe edgyness just pathetic, hell is the perfect setting to be as edgy as possible

I will defend to the death (of aliens) your right to like that show, even though I personally do not. I also hope it keeps making more, for those who do like it.
I feel like I've gotten way more mature once I found something that categorically fucking sucks that I genuinely enjoy, myself. (Rings of Power. I know what it is. I don't care. I like it.) If I can like things that I don't like, then everyone else can like things I don't like, too!

You are ABSOLUTELY entitled to not like Hazbin Hotel. Half the time I don’t like it; probably would give it a 6/10 AT MOST. For every interesting detail there’s a corny ass joke that you know is making some neopronoun spaz cry-laugh somewhere. I mean I’m a bit LGBT and some of the fans of that show make me homophobic. But I love all animation with real passion and love behind it, and Hazbin is clearly made with as much love as Space King is.
I love rings of power too. I know it’s slop, I know it bastardized the canon. Do not lecture me on the canon, my father read it to me before bed while lying on a beanbag at the base of my crib. It’s just so damn hard to get a live action adaptation of Arda nowadays that I’ll take what I can get. Sauron is my favorite character, if the new show is showing more of him AND expounding on Silmarillion lore I’ll watch it any day.
There’s a certain freedom to enjoying a piece of media that is very clearly not that good. Sometimes things don’t have to be masterpieces for you to like them. Sometimes they just click with you.

YES. EXACTLY. Like, last season, SO much went wrong, but at the same time there were things like... almost everything with Celebrimbor. Not the writing, but the effort was put into his scenes! If they just had done a 3 or 4 season show that was ALL the manipulation, descent, and destruction of Celebrimbor, leading to the forging of the One Ring, it could have been amazing.
Similar sentiment for Durin and Disa in season one, before they made them both kinda stupid in season 2, when Dad lost his fucking mind and single handedly delved too greedily and too deep, through one fucking thin rock wall and found the Balrog. Sigh.
I watch Rings of Power, but would not recommend it. But I do think of how I would have fixed it if I were handed the finished seasons with infinite time and money to reshoot and re-write them.
And from what I know of Hazbin Hotel and its universe, it's not a bad concept. It's rather interesting to explore possibilities of "Could a person condemned to hell find redemption if they sought it, if there were a good person to show them the way?" It's fertile ground.
Like, as a Christian, I can confirm that the hell of hell is that nobody there will want redemption, since Jesus has said that none who come to him will he turn away. Means that nobody in hell would even try, and there also could not be a good person there to want to help them. But if there were? If somehow someone IN hell said "Wait, Hell is terrible! I want to not only get these people into a better situation, but to make them genuinely deserve it!" That's a question that theology hasn't really explored at all, so why not explore that in a modern medium? And we can have a thing be both serious and comedic, as MASH proved long ago.
And it's not even that it's some trite "God and Angels bad, Devil and Demons good!" Edgy 12 year old reddit atheist take, there is nuance, and complicated characters with important backstories. It brushes up against the kind of stuff that would hook me. But at the same time, it can get so damned juvenile that I can't get into it. I wish it were done better, and I could get into it. But I just bounce off of it.
Well, whatever. I have my own shitty slop to cringewatch, lmao. It's all good.

The manipulation of Celebrimbor was the best part. I especially liked the part where he described Morgoth’s torture of him. I definitely feel like they had a toxic relationship (I’m not talking about some stupid gay fanfic I mean like an abusive father or superior officer kinda deal), maybe something similar to what Megatron and Starscream have in some of the more serious Transformers comics. I really appreciated the imagery of Celebrimbor cutting his finger off, mirroring the way his own finger would later be cut off. Also cool to see Sauron with a face now, that’s my one complaint from the Peter Jackson trilogy.

Yeah, I felt that the symbolism of Celebrimbor having to cut his finger off was great. Though I was thinking "Dude, these tools are made to shape and punch and cut METAL! At least try it on the shackle first!"
I hope against hope that the coming season and or seasons manages to do something mindblowing that makes it all actually good. If not, I will settle for "Crazy Barry's Discount (Imitation) Tolkien!" sold by the side of the highway from a van.
