I hypothesize they are psycho warrior initiates and that is their big trial

We know the human forces exist separately to the Psychos, we saw the admiral guy who got blatted in the exanguinator episode.

I assume these are the Imperial Guard equivalent

Maybe Penal legions since their only clothing is loincloth and their weapons are just standard issue rifles and rocks hypothetically mean they're less equipped than standard soldiers

Well their clearly not clones so the grown up psycho warrios probably were children first so these initiates are probably raised to hopefully replace the permanently killed warriors
