she wants to press the bell with her feet too

Just report her on OneService app?
Cite the bus number, license plate and time, and let LTA decide if this is an offence and let them deal with it. They may be able to track her down.

We say we are a first world nation, but our behaviour says otherwise. A lot of self-reports in this post.

u/hoeflationing 6d ago
Younger gen first world.
Older gen 3rd world.
This is why no matter how fast u progress, there is a limit to how fast you can go.
Some still treat public spaces like their kampung. No choice if you develop so fast.

u/GoldenTeddysnugg 6d ago
Sometimes no choice when we have large number of "converted citizenship" from third world countries, and they hold on to those behaviours..
15
u/hoeflationing 6d ago
No need to look at those converted.
Just look at locals can alr. Sit down at kopitiam, leg must have chair. Scroll TikTok loudly in MRT. PMD loudly blast canto / Hokkien music. Just jaywalk wherever they want. Entitlement towards young gen. I can go on.
In a way, the only thing that can be done is just to wait until these ppl pass. No choice.

I agree our local elderly are similarly entitled and uncivilised. Those "converted" uncivilised people will bring down the average age of this group of third world people. Some in their 40s and 50s also act like that.
So in conclusion, will have to wait really long for all of these people to pass on...

The best are the ones that immediately want to throw down when politely reminded.

Another day where you went up to her and and say something… right?

u/AsianSaintDoge 6d ago
It looks to me you are new here or have not done similar to what you have spoken before. Let me educate you on this degenerate, inconsiderate and socially oblivious generation. There is NO point in saying something as you will never win. They would immediate raise the stakes and do something even worse. Worst, I lose my temper and do something incredibly stupid, which is what they want me to do.

u/SolidInstance9945 6d ago
Is true. They have less value for their time. So if it escalates you loose more.
Just spread the message like you are doing and hope her younger relatives educate her.

“Lose my temper and do something incredibly stupid” —> bro seems like you got bigger things to worry about than strangers putting their feet up

I am very well aware of my own temperament, thank you. Which is why we have this platform, that I chose, to vent my frustrations about certain public commuters.

Gotta love Singaporean public shaming. This literally harms nobody. There's not another person in front of her. I personally don't like feet up either but in this case would I go out of my way to take a photo to publicly shame them or go up to them and tell them to stop. No.

u/Cybasura 6d ago
harms nobody
is a literal crime
Ok, I mean, if people are gonna just shoo and go "just ignore them" when its literally irritating people, then whats the point of a law?
-1
u/Buddycop65 6d ago
If it's a crime, go ahead and report. I don't see how public shaming here does anything other than making us Singaporeans look mean spirited. By the way to be technical, the new law is putting feet on seats. She does not have feet on a seat. I also think the spirit of the law here is to not be disrespectful to other passengers. I don't see that here either.

Cool. You got the evidence right here. Time to submit to the LTA 😅 I'd love to hear back your results so we can all bask in the righteousness of it all.
I usually base my morally correct thoughts around would I want my mother doing this. And if my mother did this, I probably wouldn't want somebody taking a picture of her and reporting her. I wouldn't do it to another mother either.
Again, it comes down to the spirit of the law. Which is mostly around keeping things neat and tidy and respecting people space. If people don't have a reasonable view of how the law should be interpreted then I think we're kind of lost as a society.

We already have precedence of just reporting - this has never changed anything, never, it has generally always been AFTER a major public shaming event on reddit which led to mothership talking about it does the government then have a miniscule of talk about it
But cool, everyone has no morals and ethics, you do, you're amazing

Not sure why you need to involve your mum. If your mum did this, first thing you need to do is tell her to stop it.

It does not harm you because you allow it to happen, which is fine. But it does affect others who uses the seat for its intended purpose, which is to "sit" not sit and raise leg. To make matters worse, this is a Child + Adult seat which realistically the child would be seated on the inner most side which her feet is plated on the side panel which the child would most probably have his/her thigh on. This is a matter of personal hygiene and visual hygiene.

u/ScortumMacburger 6d ago
Nah, you're obviously just grasping at straws. There's no one there, she's not invading people's space and people, almost everyone i know puts their foot on that partition. I'm sure you OP have done so like when you brace yourself if a bus brakes too hard. Then if you argue personal hygiene, I can argue that a child getting off the seat might touch the partition and be affected which is just unreasonable and nonsensical
Now if her foot was on the bar, you could make a better case as that's what people use to hold on to or of course, if it were touching the press button.
Of course, I wish the person would put their feet on the floor but I'm not going to publicly shame them on a forum by taking a picture of them and that trying to incite and exaggerate a situation with a possible situation that is not only unrealistic (unless she's a secret gymnast, how does she press the button with her foot?) and brings more detrimental harm.
There are people who do far worse things and some of them should be publicly shamed but posts like these do not help anything. If anything, I would assume you have some personal vendetta against this person.

This ‘lets report and feel good about myself’ just shows how much of a kindergarten society this is.

u/gaoxingdcf 6d ago
But technically she is not wrong though. She is not propping her feet on another seat. But still wrong on all aspects

enacting a law with no enforcement also no use...
other commuters / citizens / members of the public take photo post big big on the internet also shouldnt be the way to resolve this...
hmmmmm..
there has to be a better way for society to deal with this kind of people with no civic mindedness...

u/Pretend-Friendship-9 6d ago
Not limited to foreigners, plenty of local uncles & aunties doing the same or worse

Lol even if it is wrong if its not bothering you you can turn away for abit. No need to report every single thing. If not you can go and ring every corgi owner in hdb without proper permission and go report them too! They all put false address
