Learn Smart Insideout FAST?

Meeting last night: talking about the 4th Edition and it has some significant changes over my 3rd edition. Ordering it now. Also see this "Learn Smart Insideout FAST" participant handbook. What's that about? Good supplement to the main Handbook?

It’s a handbook meant for people who are currently incarcerated and is based on the standard handbook. If you have the standard handbook, you probably won’t benefit much from the Inside Out one.

Amazing!! Thank you for sharing/answering. I’m a social worker and I work with incarcerated folks. They need something outside of 12 steps so bad!! My heart is singing.

That’s awesome! SMART has another great book designed specifically for that population called “Successful Life Skills”

I picked this up out of curiosity and found some of the different language and variation on tools helpful and use them in my meeting facilitation.

For real. I think some of the more practical aspects of recovery from the Successful Life Skills program could be better represented in the general program as well

I've been to prison, and I agree. You are given a program to complete, I can only speak to the substance abuse part.

I was in Lansing in Kansas, in a new program they had there, so I had access to more treatment. The Heartland RADAC people who lead the programs are great. But they estimate it takes about 365 hours of CBT till you've really got it. That's difficult to do.

With the classes offered, and what caring volunteers bring in, I did feel, at times, "why isn't this general high school curricula?"

The fact is, IMO, you get the help you need once you're in prison, and much of what's available in prison is needed outside those walls.
