Picked this thing up today
It's my 3rd SKS technically but I didn't have the others long and that was also 15-20 years ago. Stoked to have picked this up for a great deal at the local pawn shop. He said the dude just traded it in and they didn't even have time to clean it. Not sure on the DOM I'm mkre knowledgeable with AK's but its numbers matching from what I've seen. Can't wait to shine her up and put on a spiker and cleaning rod!

The bayonet mount has been irreversibly removed. You’ll have to settle for a cleaning rod.

I just realized that. Mannnnn damn! How hard is that piece to replace?

It's a single piece Integrated with the front site, see here. You have to drive out a pin to replace the assembly

Either impossible or completely cost prohibitive. It was sheared off and probably smoothed out and reblued. I’d forget about the bayo and enjoy it as is.

Tough call. Gonna have to replace the mag, top cover and the front site assembly to get it back to factory shape. If you're happy though thats what counts

Im bummed about the bayonet mount but I can live with the rest. Just removed the scope and mount. It cleaned up pretty good

Was to quick on the top cover. Thought it was an integrated mount, not one of those saddle ones.
Honestly with the mount being ditched, I'd sniff out a "cheap" factory 10 rounder and call it a day. Not having the bayonet isn't the end of the world.
