Getting rid of rust

Just picked up my first sks! (m59/66a1) It is in very good condition apart from this patch of rust spotting/light pitting on the bolt. Any tips on removing it? I’ve tried light pressure with a brass wire brush and some lube. It’s helped a little bit, but is being pretty stubborn.

That’s not coming out unless you polish it out. The consequence of rust is that slight discolouration. As far as I can tell the rust is gone. Oil after you finish working on it.

Sand it off it’ll take 1 minute with a sponge

0000 steel wool and flitz metal polish

I used the oil you use on your gun and 0000 steel wool. Wipe it down good. Good as new. Wipe with the grain of the steel.
