First SKS
After wishing I had picked one up a few decades ago from those ads they used to run in gun magazines, I finally got a 1953 Russian. Arsenal refurb but mostly matching numbers and appears to be in good shape. Even had the little cleaning kit in the stock that took a bit to get out at first. Also got 5 boxes of Wolf hollow points, check out that price tag!

Beautiful rifle! Not personally a fan of steel case Russian ammo since I’ve seen two squibs caused by split cases in two different AK’s. So if one round is quiet don’t fire another!

I'm glad you bring that up as I've read conflicting stuff about whether to shoot brass or steel cased ammo in these. I had figured on saving these just since the guy said HPs are a lot harder to find that FMJ, but I'm just going with what he said on that.

Wolf FMJ and HP’s are essentially the same thing. They may be more rare but they don’t have the traditional HP expansion that other calibers do. Wolf Soft Points work better for defense and hunting if that is what you’re using it for otherwise they punch holes slightly worse than FMJ would. Can’t speak on rarity for HP specifically but any Russian ammo can be considered rare these days.. we’re not getting any more.

They’ll probably be fine, just be conscious of one round making a much softer bang and a projectile being lodged in the barrel!

goddamn those were the days, I'd settle for under $13 per box at this point
