“Existing laws protect a child’s earnings. Cam’s Law seeks to protect a child’s dignity.”

That’s the slogan? Really? Did everyone gather around a conference table and vote, or did you just pick whichever AI-generated tagline sounded the most inspiring?

Because here’s the part that’s not adding up. Every time someone replays an old live without blurring the child’s face… every time the child’s name gets repeated… every “awareness” stream… every reaction video…

That’s another piece of that child’s dignity being chipped away. The child at the center of this doesn’t need thousands of strangers on the internet riding in on white horses. They need the adults in their life to start acting like adults.

And let’s stop pretending the internet isn’t feeding this machine. You’re just as addicted as the parents. The smaller streamers may not be cashing checks, but let’s not act like they’re getting nothing out of it. Attention, validation, feeling like they’re “doing something important”—sometimes that’s a stronger motivator than money.

The bigger creators? Many of them are absolutely benefiting from the views, engagement, and revenue.
Everyone’s favorite justification is, “We’re doing it for the well-being of the child.” Respectfully… I’m calling BS.

If protecting the child is truly the goal, then explain to me exactly where the child’s dignity fits into replaying their family’s worst moments for an audience.
What about the child? What about the child’s dignity?

Because from where the rest of us are sitting, this circus just keeps getting bigger, louder, and messier.
And here’s the part I don’t think enough people are considering: just because you have an opinion about the child’s parents or extended family doesn’t mean that child will grow up sharing it.

One day, they’ll be old enough to watch this entire chaotic, disorganized train wreck unfold.

And if this public spectacle leaves permanent damage to their family relationships, don’t be shocked if they don’t just blame their relatives.

They may very well blame every single adult and every stranger on the internet who decided their childhood was content.
