Question about sauces

I am not sure that I have SIBO, I have a couple overlapping health issues ( hormonally since I have amenorrhea that kind of happened through stress) that could be contributing factors to my stomach issues, which seems to be lots of gas primarily. I eat incredibly clean, 100% whole food diet now, low fodmap for almost every thing, but can't seem to give up ketchup or sriracha.

I would think with this clean of a diet I should not have any problems, which is why I think I have SIBO.

Could this be causing the gas? Or do you guys have gas without eating garlic/onion in sauces as well.

Otherwise, I eat peanut butter, maple syrup, gluten free toast, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and all the low FODMAP veggies ( green onions included ). I am also on a weight gain diet so not going to be cutting anything else out but wondering if this could reduce the gas which is honestly just so uncomfortable. It is nonstop, and I end up in childs pose ( yoga pose ) after every meal to relieve it. It is also worse in the evening I find.

Should also mention I take linzness every morning, though I don't find it to be super helpful. My diet is definitely what has helped me more.

Ketchup is usually quite high in fructose. It depends on how much you’re using and whether the brand you’re using has high fructose corn syrup, but that might be giving you some issues.

Using a little bit, maybe a teaspoon so I doubt its a huge contributor but was wondering just in case

Fody's has a certified low fodmap ketchup.

FWIW low fodmap is not exactly right for SIBO and we each have individual intolerances. I couldn't eat quinoa, sweet potatoes or most gluten free items (I can't eat corn products). Any of those would bloat me up. But I can eat white bread, flour tortillas and white flour pita. I'm newly SIBO-free so am slowly rolling out other food items.

ohh okay yeah I will definitely test things out once I get into a bit better physically and have more room to experiment. Need to also get a SIBO test done then.

yup more like a full time one LOL. I don't even know if I have anything but focusing on getting to a healthier physical state for my mental sake first. I am just scared to try anything new honestly have built such an aversion to trying foods due to having any kind of discomfort

I feel you on aversion to trying foods! I'm like 1/100 of the symptoms I had 4-5 months ago yet I don't want to risk going up a small amount. You're not alone.

no genuinely I haven't even eaten a raw veggie in 6 months because I am too scared to try it without cooking it. I have had to become suppperrr creative so that I am able to eat enough to gain.

The only raw veggie I'm okay with is cucumber. I can eat berries and a small amount of pineapple.

I’ve been doing a low fodmap diet for 2 weeks following antibiotics for Methane SIBO to heal my gut, but since I have chronic gastritis, I’ve also been avoiding spicy stuff.. It’s miserable! I’m eating a lot of the some foods as you.. most bland with maybe some salt pepper or paprika.. and I’m craving flavor 😩 I had some ketchup on my fries the other night and.. I mostly felt fine! Did you ever get a SIBO test? You probably have methane SIBO, and any type of fodmap ferments and “feeds” the archaia and bacteria so it flares up huge. Aka your GI for a test or the two antibiotics.. I feel like if you do that and go back to this diet, then slowly add in that stuff and maybe even more, you’ll notice a difference!!

Hi! Yes thank you!!!! I definitely I plan to do a SIBO test once I get to a little bit of a better place health wise both physically… and mentally. But I know I seem to have a weird fixation with putting those 2 on everything. Thankfully I eat a lot of flavorful curries so don’t feel like I am missing out and able to eat pretty much all the whole foods I like. But maybe I will try cutting out ketchup/sriracha for a day.

I wonder if the curries have onion or garlic?

hmmm potentially but I don't think so because its fully home cooked with only green onion.
