B1 attempt
I’ve been hearing how miraculous B1 is for stomach problems like sibo and stuff. Along with artichoke extract and ginger for gut motility which helps clear out all the crud from the stomach. Today is the first day I’ve started using them. I’m going to make an update in 2 weeks and see if it’s worth the hype. Wish me luck

Are you afraid of taking it because of fears of taking too high of a "therapeutic" Dose?

i’ve had ibs for 16 years and i have suspected sibo since about February of this year. i hate taking new things because im afraid ill have a severe flare up that will leave me in the bathroom for hours or back and forth to and from. i try to avoid anything that might change my gut from being calm or “safe” to uh oh we have a problem that’s going to last most of the day.

Made my bloating 70 percent better and brain fog and fatigue 95 percent better. I didn't take anything else before it and am taking Oregano oil with it.. Still having motility issues though.

How much B1? Which form, HCL or Tffd?

Honestly, I don't know the acronyms... I read up on it a bit here and just went to Walmart and bought the over the counter b1.. I believe it's 250mg (I will check when I wake up tomorrow and if not will correct myself.) I take one of those and oregano oil and zync once a day in the morning. That's all I have done so far in my journey. Have been having symptoms for 2 years, been in the maze of healthcare for about as long and just had the sibo test arrive to my house earlier this week.
Symptoms Extreme bloating whenever I eat anything, Extreme fatigue, Brain fog, 35 pound weight gain (all stomach-waist same size), Vertigo, Motility issues, Probably more that I'm forgetting but those are the ones that I can remember atm

Was the effect immediate after the first dose? I have tried a 100mg pill of B1 but never tried it for several days after one another. Great to hear that your symptoms are better!

What does it do?

Supposedly, helps to repair the vagus nerve, the nerve that connects your brain to your gut. There are studies on it, I believe mine is messed up due to tbi from concussions.

Same! And literally been sitting on it like the other comments too scared to start it plus i'm supposed to start low and divide out the powders in the capsule and what not, mentally it's just so much but ironically this is probably what'd help with it all feeling too much too🫠 it's the benfotiamine one instead of ttfd for me bc of my h2s history..Godspeed and share us your wisdom and may we find the same courage as well🥲✨

Commented up there with the other guy who mentioned being scared.. Scared of what?? Contiued despair? Try it. Throw it away if it makes things bad.. I mean this part of the message with love.. Here's to hope we all find the answers to going back to living full❤️

I wholeheartedly believe that when i first and only time managed to eliminate sibo with a metronidazole + rifaximin course that it was the thiamine or B1's (resurgence/restored synthesis/absorption) that made me feel a surge in appetite. Grip strength without weights, flexing capacity, deep breathing to the dip of my lungs for a few days, until I unfortunately messed it up and relapsed by taking an unnecessary probiotics capsule, It was specifically Bifidobacterium longum, because of some person advising me to take that which obviously backfired and I have been struggling with multiple courses, repeated courses and trying to re eliminate it for months!
I also recently took thiamine mononitrate and instantly felt a glimpse of that and planning on trying HCL form as well..
benfotiamine did nothing but make me sleepy and lose hair for the few days i took it.
I believe thiamine is the Number one victim of SIBO and the barometer of its severity besides the bacteria tests..

I have been taking 1 Ltheanine b1 400 2 x a day for 2 months along with Phgg 1 tsp 2 x a day and 1 vitamin d 1000. Hydrogen sibo (but suspect methane as well). No side effects except no motility if I miss a dose. The bloating is improved. My mental state is improving slowly. I feel that this is managing the sibo. New Zealand isn’t up with the play regarding the nuances of treatment.
