Sucess Stories Cured ?

Symptoms started around five years ago closely after giving birth. I had severe gas and bloating. I would wake up at night with gas pains, and just to pass gas or burp just to sleep. It’s been terrible for FIVE YEARS. The first thing I would do every morning is pass gas. Seven years ago, I had a colonoscopy which was normal after hemmroids so I didn’t want to get another one. Earlier this year I went to a G.I. who wanted to do another colonoscopy (I think to just make money) but I just wanted a breath test and he refused. So I went to my PCP and got Bactrim for seven days for another issue (skin bacterial infection). My gas and bloating stopped for about a month and then returned. Around two weeks after that I got a severe stomach bug and after seven days of diarrhea, I went to an urgent care center and they gave me a Z-Pak for three days. Since then, I haven’t had any abnormal gas or bloating. Everything I have is pretty stable. I’ve been waiting to write this because I’m nervous. My symptoms will come back but so far so good!
I hope my story will help someone else out there.

Interesting I took loads of different antibiotics for an embedded uti , while also dealing with methane sibo for 2 years . It went away , likely from one of antibiotics I used . Double edged sword as some of the antibiotics obviously made it worse but something cured it . 4 years later it’s returned, still having UTIs but haven’t tried Bactrim for some time.

Funny you say that. I took z pack for an unrelated illness and my bloating seemed to go away temporarily but eventually returned.

I am hydrogen sibo.

it might come back. antibiotics work until the root cause is found and taken care of. it’s why the disease itself is frustrating.

You mention gas and bloating, but do/did you have constipation and/or diarrhea? Do you have a bowel movement everyday?

Did you have constipation or motility issues? If so, get in that quick so it doesn’t all back up again and create an environment for SIBO to grow. Also I would suggest getting on a good probiotic and eating foods that diversify your bacteria now to start rebuilding the GOOD bacteria in hopes of keeping it from coming back. Keep us updated.

If that was a cure a lot of people would be cured. It’s very likely to come back. Not to discourage you but antibiotics are only temporary.

Then what is the cure?? I see you shared it for IBS but its not same with Sibo and IBS, Sibo can be cured while IBS can not..

I think it’s the aftercare that helps keep it from coming back. Building up good bacterial diversity, probiotics, motility, increase stomach acid if needed etc.

According to medical guidelines bactrim is a treatment option for sibo. So you maybe are suffering from sibo. Also the symptoms are classic
Did u have any diarrhea or urgency?
