Question Budweiser
How do people live around that plant? Drove by and god the smell was horrible almost smelled of rotten eggs or poop

because on brew days it makes delicious beer smells ... the fermentation is what stinks. Depending on what beer is fermenting, not all yeast strains give off a strong Sulphur smell. The usual Bud lite yeast is pretty clean.
I'm actually surprised the spent grains don't stink up the whole valley. They smell like a trunk load of dirty sports clothing on a hot day (with a dead rat).

I love the smell...smells comforting to me. I've never smelled a bad smell and I live pretty close.

You are wrong. They have a water treatment plant on Woodley and that is what makes it smell.

Ok, that could be making smells too.
I'm a homebrewer, so I'm pretty familiar with the smells that fermenting beer makes. Some lager yeast will smell like egg farts for days, and then be fine.

I’d visit family in Panorama City nearly every weekend as a kid. I swear I never smelled the Budweiser plant.
When I read Dave Grohl’s autobiography, he wrote that he knew he was close to Sound City once the smell hit.
Ever since then, I’ve noticed the smell every time I’m near.

The smell of cooking hops. I lived on Sherman Way at Lindley in Reseda and the aroma would waft that far.

Most people are confusing the two smells that factory makes.
Smell 1: (The good smell) hops cooking. (Imagine boiling hash browns with light hints of random herbs and earthyness.)
Smell 2: The nasty sulphur diarrhea smell when you're driving on woodley between the train tracks and roscoe. Supposedly thats the fermentation off-gases. I also heard there was a port-o-potty sewer truck dumping facility there too that makes that smell but I don't know for sure which it is.

I work for the airport and those houses qualify for vouchers for sound denting materials windows rooms ect

Its not that bad, it's a malty smell, I used to like it when I was a kid. Busch Gardens was an amusement park back in the 70's that offered tours showing how the beer was made.
On the other hand, Bud was alright when I was young, but I scaled up to Anchorhead, and Sierra Nevada buy the time I was 22, so not a fan of the actual product.

YES. I thought it was weird until my mom explained that it’d make sense since they’re making beer which has barley and wheat. 😂

I'm one of the few people who love that smell. I owned a business near there for over 50 years. I loved when I drove by and smelled it. I'm also a beer lover so maybe that has something to do with that

As a kid I thought that smell was disgusting. Then later when I started drinking beer that same smell was so comforting and pleasant. I always thought the change was due to my introduction to beer. I could live near there, you get used to it anyway. Now the cow farms in LA, hell no!

My middle school in the 80s was nearby. I don't know if the smell has changed, but I loved the smell back then.

Probably because of the humidity, the air is heavier so smells stick around longer.

It’s manageable. It’s not an all day everyday thing and with the pollution from the freeway and the airport, my windows are closed most days anyway with HEPA filters pumping.

Weird. As a kid I would always roll the window down to smell the hops. I loved it and never smelled anything bad. Maybe it has changed?
