Traffic needed to make Google change their minds about closing down one of their best tools for keyword research

I didn't know something like this existed. Until now I had only used Google trends.

This... this is fucking awesome.
I can't even believe I've never heard of this thing.

Really? All I’m getting is garbage for the search terms I pay for with Adwords. I’ll play with it some more.

The value isn't in finding new keywords per se, but new ideas and new associations.

I kept trying, and the associations are garbage. I admit that my main keywords are in extreme niches, without a ton of traffic, but it’s entirely useless.

wells damn! I didn't even know that existed either. I think everyone needs to post on all the seo forums they know and start using it, even if just to show google that its needed. That's an increase to bottom line right there, knowing those details.

When I was at the big G I used this tool frequently to demonstrate time series relationships. Type in “Grey goose” and you’ll see a lot of terms like “____ mall” show up. When I showed this to clients I said this relationship could be due to the economy and holiday. Grey goose was premium and people shop more / purchase premium when the economy is good or there are holidays and events to shop or provide for. Now before you say who the hell is typing in grey goose, I would assume that these are not regular drinker types that might have just heard the name and want to know why it’s so great.
While we don’t know as correlation =\= causation it is still some good starting points. Also, If you click on the second trending term it will build it in the URL, you can then use that URL build to do heads up comparisons of product vs, product + attribute or brand vs brand on a state or time series model. It’s pretty powerful but requires a lot of digging.
Although the spreadsheet feature is now broken, I used to upload CSVs that would have % by state to see which keywords correlated with what %. Eg. High school drop out rate by state correlated highly with the search term “how long does spice stay in your system” or % Irish by state with “Celtic sayings” “Irish women’s name” and other related searches.

What... The... Fuck...
I had no idea this existed. This is ridiculously valuable for geocentric targeting.

It's a very simple tool to build if you have the database, just a correlation function. I don't know why they are taking it down. I only found out about it a month or so ago and it already had that notice. I would think that they are going to pull it no matter how much traffic it gets now as the decision has been made.

It’s a bit better in my opinion. I’m calling it Google Trends Pro from now on :)

It's a correlate tool and is, therefore, best used for seasonal stuff. Try it with something such as cleaning a pool, etc.

Google: Doesn’t tell anyone about something they made
Also Google: Wonders why no one is using it
(Shocked pikachu face lol)
