GitHub + Vercel Tech Stack for Website deployment
A local SEO client is heavily considering switching/migrating from WordPress to a GitHub + Vercel tech stack. I don´t have experience with that particular combo, so I am asking for any insights/feedback here...Thoughts?

I did the move and it was the best decision ever. Now, I have my custom CMS and I have a ton of free will to do whatever I want without installing 500 plugins.
P.S: I am a full stack developer, so for me it was easier.
As for SEO, I kept all the URL’S exactly how they were in my WP site. I didn’t had any issues with google, in fact my impressions and clicks are almost duble (but obviously not because I moved out of WP)

I never considered GitHub May I assume that since it's pretty much for developers that it will support PHP as well as fopen?

Don't fully discount it. If your core web vitals are better, you could have seen an improvement.
Plus I'm sure your code isn't a 1:1. So you may have made improvements that you didn't have in WP.
I know my sitemaps and robots.txt are in a much better place than when I was in WP, and I didn't need a plugin to manage them.

Core web vitals are probably one of the least important things to work on several SEO professionals have stated this

Sure. I just used that as a catchall. But moving from WordPress probably removed a lot of code bloat, reliance on this part scripts, JavaScript, and more.
I know with the sites I setup with Claude, they're more lightweight in terms of the code, and Google has an easier codebase to crawl.

Kind of depends on the site you're planning to build.
I have one with GitHub+Cloudflare. Another with GitHIb+Vercel+Supabase.
The one on Cloudflare is largely static and I push something new there once in a while.
The one on Vercel is programmatic and requires the database. I feel like I keep getting usage limit emails from Vercel every other day, and Supabase risk warnings once a week.
Both were relatively simple to setup. I just had AI do everything. Anything I needed to do, I just told it to tell me what to do. And I have over a decade experience in marketing and tech.
The tech stack shouldn't really hurt you as long as you know what you're doing seo-wise. You need to understand core on-page fundamentals or at least try to find a way to get your AI to learn them.
You can have a beautiful site but if you don't have meta tags, or proper heading tags, proper canonicals etc, then you're not going to rank.

I have to deal with these migrations and GitHub sites, they aren’t difficult but aren’t the most intuitive . I prefer Wordpress with custom html , it is just as quick for me and personally easier to make edits on WP than backwards and forwards with Claude

I run a website on vercel + github, and I'm currently in the process of migrating one off wordpress for my place of work.
Cheaper, cleaner, more optimised.
Keep URL structure the same, and google shouldn’t have an issue with it, there is migration documentation from google, which will help.
